You would think that we would have learned our lesson after putting Obama in the White House solely because he is black.
Nope. We still live in an affirmative action culture. “Conservatives” will go around and say things like “we need a Hispanic president” or “we need a woman president.”
Why? I mean ... if they are qualified and accomplished and experienced, if they are clearly capable of doing to the job, then great.
But what about electing people solely on the basis of race and ethnicity? How long can you get away with doing that before people start to wise up to that game?
Not long.
So Obama is eligible to be president? Darn.
Where does “native born citizen” show up in the Constitution?
Well, actually, I didn’t put Obama in the White House. I voted for that RINO a-hole McCain. It disgusted me, but I did it. I am whitey white girl here, but frankly, if Marco Rubio wants to be on my side and is willing to educate other “Hispanics” about the truths of Conservativism, I’m ALL FOR IT. Even if his name was Marcie Rubio. I’m not going to suggest you are a sexist or a racist. I think you’re old school, and I get that. But I do think you need to look past your assumptions. Rubio is a solid conservative. Don’t knock him BECAUSE he’s Hispanic and new. He’s got “star” quality that is NECESSARY for elections these days.
It’s a new day. Hispanics are the fastest growing group in America and republicans will need all the votes they can get.
Exactly...look what happened with Obama.
A lot of big time liberals have got to be tearing their hair out about their bad choice.
You mean the education at those land grant schools of yours? I did better than that, as you well know.
"Informing minorities about conservatism?" Print some leaflets, start a web site, sure. But you want to BUY votes like the 'Rats.
You're a troll.
Yes, he also predicted hillary would beat Obummer. And she may yet. Are you sure Obama won't have any primary opposition?
weak...........
"We have to pass the bill so you can find out what's in it."
Plus, he represents the Cubans who came here to escape Castro...not Mexicans who stormed our borders with pregnant women to produce "anchor babies" and collect welfare.
Rubio 'is' eligible! Anyone throwing that crap up in the air is being 'mischieveous'.
He was "natural born" in the United States.
You are either "natural born" or "naturalized" U.S. citizen. ONE or the OTHER. Nothing else.
If you are NOT "natural born" then you have to be "NATURALIZED" and go thru the process of GETTING 'Citizenship Paperwork' to become a "U.S. Citizen" - or else....you are an ILLEGAL!
So if you think Rubio was not "natural born", and he has not gone through the "Naturalization" process - then he is an ..... ILLEGAL!
The only way this issue would ever come to a head in an election, is if the Sec of State of a State rejects the candidate's application to be on the ballot for President for that State's election. Then it would have to be litigated all the way to the Supreme Court!
A non-trivial percentage of conservatives won't vote for Rubio because of this issue so it had better be decided by SCOTUS in favor of Rubio being NBC before he he is nominated. It won't just go away.
Minor v Happersett suggests that the Constitution does not define natural born, and that while there may be doubts on whether children born in the US to non citizens are natural born or not, the court would not rule on that.
So they did not confirm or deny natural born status to children born in the US to non-citizens, as that was not the point of the case. All the result of that case does is keep the argument going, but it is not anything final.
EXACTLY!!! One of the most patriotic ethnic groups in this country.
Do you know what the phrase ‘In obiter dictum’ means?
ditto.
Good point!
That's the biggest BS you can put on this board!
Ever seen a cereal box in Canada? That's where we're heading...on an express train to losing our culture.
