President Obamas jobs speech represented the lowest ratings hes received for any address to a joint session of Congress of his presidency.
The speech garnered 31.5 million viewers, according to the website TVbythenumbers, which was slightly lower than his Sept. 2009 health care speech to Congress, which drew 32.1 million viewers and is probably the fairest comparison.
But viewed against other addresses to Congress, it looks worse, and is part of a broader downward trend.
During his first speech to a joint session of Congress in February 2009, Obama drew 52.4 million viewers. His first official State of the Union Address on January 2010 drew 48 million viewers and this years SOTU had 42.8 million.
His highest rated speech of all time was his speech on the death of Osama bin Laden, which drew 56.5 million viewers, though it wasnt to a joint session.

It wasn’t a speech. It was a yell fest. It sounded like a rally for union workers on strike. Not befitting a President.
Yep, and my wife and I watched another rerun during the speech; Gunsmoke on the Westerns Channel. Good show though I've seen it before...
All it takes is just two viewings:
First viewing - You think he is lying.
Second viewing - Confirms your first thought.
Any additional viewing is a total waste of time that could be better spent on something more important, like picking your nose.
Or like the "Nuremburg Rally" for Paul Wellstone.
Of course. Who wants to hear him talk about enslaving us even more - to the tune of another half trillion - so he can trow away our hard earned wages at union thugs? We don't need unions, so why the heck listen to this loon?
I think there's something seriously wrong in obomas head. I don't think he's all "there."
Besides, Green Bay and New Orleans was about to kick off the 2011 NFL season. Before that was a much better pre-game show. Why would anyone in their right mind tune in to the usurper in chief when the NFL is about to commence playing for real?

USA Network had the NFL Kickoff pregame. I watched that.
Dudden surprise me. I have NEVER watched a minute of any speech he has ever given. NONE. I refuse to watch him. When he hits my TV screen, I change the channel immeidately if not sooner! There is NOTHING that comes out of his mouth I want to hear. Even if he came on to say “I quit” I would get my info on it here or somewhere else, but not from his lying mouth.
31.5 million viewers..of which, no doubt..31 mill had tuned in to NBC..looking for the football game....and a huge collective WTF went up across the land...
I've been unlucky enough to get smacked with a clip of him, while surfing channels & he does YELL at people. That is the Chicago THUG style he learned!
They might have had the television on, but they were probably using the bathroom, or in the kitchen fixing snacks for the ball game.

Dinner was just about ready, and my wife had just walked in the door when I’d switched to Have Gun Will Travel. While we were finishing getting dinner on the table, Gunsmoke came on. I told her I’d channel surfed, and this was it. She said “That’s fine by me”.
Afterward she walked the dog while I sat down with a glass of wine and my eReader. About 45 minutes later I turned the TV on hoping he was off and he was. Nice way to get through a speech with your sanity intact.
As I was watching last night I was thinking how is it his supporters still think this guy is so brilliant.Then I saw all those morons standing and cheering and I realized and finally got it, he was the smartest guy in the room
Bad timing, 7 on the east is 4 on the west, good chunk of the people that actually wanted to hear him blather were still at work.
We watched the NFL game (New Orleans vs. Green Bay). It was great.
I’ve only watched a total of 5 minutes of Hussein since he emerged out of nowhere to usurp the Constitution, enabled by slobbering hordes of “tv” worshipping morons..
Not paying for MSM sat/cable helps. If something interesting is on Foxnews(very rarely) one of my bookmarked streams is usually up..

They are the lucky ones - they still have jobs. I doubt they really wanted to hear his plans for them.
I watched “Pawn Stars” from my DVR. Best example of true capitalism I can think of and it sooo entertaining! Love that show.
Where was I? Oh, yes - on the deck, I think - enjoying a warm summer sunset with a cigar and a wee dram ‘o singlemalt.
I watched Seinfeld re-runs. Interestingly, they were also about nothing.
I watched flies screw (polite). Seemed more interesting and original at the moment.
We watched “Wheel of Fortune” and “Jeopardy” instead.
Much more stimulating intellectually.
And easier on the gastric system.
Every time Obama said “pass it quickly or now” or whatever, everyone had to chug.
Midway through the speech, more kegs were tapped and more of the “good stuff” was brought out.
The hangover this morning was a “son of a ....” and so absenteeism was quite high today.

People talk about what a gifted orator he is.
I don’t see it. He hesitates way too long mid-sentence, has to use the prompter, and seems robot-like as he swings from one prompter to the other.
I went to the gym. I haven’t been able to watch President Zero since the Guantanamo speech his 1st or 2nd day in office.. that one infuriated me to such an extent, that I swore off every listening to him speak again. I rather read about it after the fact.
I used the remote and changed to the Watch Paint Dry channel.
one of my boys & I were stuck in traffic due to the power outage. I was MUCH more enjoyable than listening to Obama speak.
No, it means 31.5 million people's televisions were on the channel while he was speaking. Most of those people probably left the room when he pre-empted their regularly scheduled programming.
I turn the sound off whenever I see his face. Especially if I am eating.
I can believe it. The very sight of him is nauseating. Listening to him speak is stroke inducing.
I occasionally see a brief clip of him on FR, but I mute the sound so all I see is his head robotically turning back and forth from prompter A to prompter B. My catz have much more alert expressions!
Thats something when the old reruns are more interesting than Obama.
Fortunately, my cable doesn’t carry MSLSD. The Whistler is not permitted in my home, anyway.
Did anyone else note Obama’s angry shouting that Republicans want to cut MOST Federal government spending?

What a numbskull. Ryan and Company would be ecstatic if they could just get close to a spending freeze.
