New York Times: Did Sarah Palin really say that? Wow.
New York Times via The American Conservative ^ | September 9, 2011 | Rod Dreher

Sarah Palin said some amazing and terrific things the other day — and nobody who wasn’t there heard about them. From, believe it or not, The New York Times, in which a columnist points out that we’re so used to goofiness coming from Palin that we missed some really interesting things at the Tea Party meeting last week — something that even liberals would have found compelling. Read past the jump for Anand Giridharadas’s summary of the great things Palin said. A hint, to get you to read further: “Ms. Palin may be hinting at a new political alignment that would pit a vigorous localism against a kind of national-global institutionalism.”

This is essentially the same platform she used to win the Alaskan governorship and she delivered by kicking ass and taking names of corrupt republicans as well as democrats. That’s what drove her popularity.

Being opposed to crony capitalism (government shouldn’t be picking winners and losers) is a conservative principle that many democrats could agree with.

Frickin' clueless sheep in this country fall for the media narrative. Palin has been saying these things all along, but they are ignored and she is just spun as a 'dunce' or 'extremist'. Just like the relentless 24/7 media somehow pins economic ruin on a president that maintained unemployment at or below 5% and many consecutive years of GDP growth. Anyone who is to the right is savaged, while cretin's like Pelosi and Obama are propped up and covered for at every turn.

Regardless of any one's opinion on Palin in this Presidential race, Palin has been a champion for the people for many years, and especially since she entered the national scene. The media is too busy digging through her garbage and emails to report what she actually is saying.

1. The American "Conservative" is no such thing.

2. Palin's speech was actually broadcast on CSPAN.

3. The NYT piece gets it about right.

"Do you want to know why nothing ever really gets done?” she said, referring to politicians. “It’s because there’s nothing in it for them. They’ve got a lot of mouths to feed — a lot of corporate lobbyists and a lot of special interests that are counting on them to keep the good times and the money rolling along."

The real money is in the medicine, not in the cure!

Not really a fair comment. She would never have been known outside of Alaska if she hadn't accepted the nomination. It didn't necessarily mean that she bought into everything that McCain stood for (whatever that is). She just took an opportunity. I'm glad she did.

Her base of support will be too small if she runs, and she will be too polarizing, but if she rises above politics and stays on this theme, she might actually attract people to her cause who have been reluctant to support her this far.

Total nonsense. She's going to attract Dems who aren't insane leftists as well as Rs and Independents.

No song better reflects the crisscrossing of two critical junctures in time than Bob Dylan's famous 1964 rendition of ....

"THE TIMES - THEY ARE A-CHANGIN"

The Times - They are a-Changin
Bob Dylan (1964)
===================

Come gather 'round people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
You'll be drenched to the bone
If your time to you
Is worth savin'
Then you better start swimmin'
Or you'll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin'.

Come writers and critics
Who prophesize with your pen
And keep your eyes wide
The chance won't come again
And don't speak too soon
For the wheel's still in spin
And there's no tellin' who
That it's namin'
For the loser now
Will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin'.

Come senators, congressmen
Please heed the call
Don't stand in the doorway
Don't block up the hall
For he that gets hurt
Will be he who has stalled
There's a battle outside
And it is ragin'
It'll soon shake your windows
And rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin'.

Come mothers and fathers
Throughout the land
And don't criticize
What you can't understand
Your sons and your daughters
Are beyond your command
Your old road is
Rapidly agin'
Please get out of the new one
If you can't lend your hand
For the times they are a-changin'.

The line it is drawn
The curse it is cast
The slow one now
Will later be fast
As the present now
Will later be past

I hope so! Maybe Palin would do more good for American politics by staying out of the race and becoming the sort of independent activist suggested by these remarks.

She would make an excellent thorn in the side of Congress and the President by working from the outside.

Yea, just another variant of "She would be much more useful if she wasn't President" crap we have heard ad nauseum from the supporters of other candidates fearful of her entry into the POTUS 2012 race.

The so-called logic employed is amazing in it's lack of logic.

There is no other position on earth like US POTUS for it's ability to set the agenda.

Right now, I’m a Perry supporter and I don’t think she will enter the race but I’m not opposed to her becoming a candidate at all. Just think she has too many obstacles.

She made three interlocking points. First, that the United States is now governed by a “permanent political class,” drawn from both parties, that is increasingly cut off from the concerns of regular people. Second, that these Republicans and Democrats have allied with big business to mutual advantage to create what she called “corporate crony capitalism.” Third, that the real political divide in the United States may no longer be between friends and foes of Big Government, but between friends and foes of vast, remote, unaccountable institutions (both public and private).

Few have noticed when I've said these things either, and I've been saying it for years. There's only one person I'll vote for president.

I am going to listen to this speech, because if she said this, she is the first person I have heard that has hit the nail on the head for why we have no jobs!

1) Corporations are outsourcing jobs and bring cheap labor into this country.
2) Corporations are forcing salary people to work 50 - 60 hours a week and only pay for 40. There are no jobs to jump too, because the other corporations are doing the same thing.
3) Corporations survey jobs in your area and since they get together and “agree” not to pay more for a job, the salary does not go up.

Why would corporations hire new workers when the have “free” and very low cost labor? Free Capitalism is the best economy in the world, but we no longer have Free Capitalism in this country. The fix is in and all the rules have shifter to the giant Corporations.

This is all made possible by the politicians who write the laws that allow the corporations to screw their employees. Changing jobs does not help, becuase the other corporations are playing by the same rules.

What were the questions?

How many people asked?

Were they likely voters? Did they vote in the last presidential election?

How many Rs and how many Ds in the poll?

What areas of the country?

Please answer this question. Why are so many trying to horn in on Madam Ruby’s fortune telling business? Why can’t you and others just cruise along for the ride she has mapped out for herself? She is driving her own bus and she can take it any darn place she wants to go.

If she jumps in, great for us, it she doesn’t, great for her. We’ll just have to adapt and overcome with what is left. Not like any of us has had to do that before.

Actually you said that in your opinion that what she was going to do.

It's not only a bad idea, I would put her in the Ron Paul category if she does it. This would be completely destructive not only to the Conservative cause, but to the United States she claims to love. It will only ensure that Obama can win with a 42% plurality. In fact, Obama could conceivably win all 57 states.

Bingo. Sarah is essentially consistent in policy and values. This is nothing new, it's just new that the Slime mentions it truthfully.

It's also the same old policy that cost her the support of any RINO, inside the beltway, crony, ruling class, GOP scumbag, and the reason they sabotaged her at every turn.

Sarah remains consistent, but now knows who her enemies are, that's what's new.
