Giuliani assails Obama on terrorism [Republican Response 9/10/11]
YahooNews ^ | Sept. 10, 2011 | Staff

Former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani, speaking for his fellow Republicans ten years after the September 11th attacks, denounced President Barack Obama's handling of national security on Saturday.

Giuliani, giving the party's weekly address, notably blasted Obama's decision to withdraw some 33,000 US troops from Afghanistan by September 2012 and bring home all combat forces by 2014.

"Perhaps the most dangerous impulse we've developed since September 11 is impatience demonstrated by the calls to put our armed forces on timetables," said the former mayor, hailed for his take-charge response to the attacks.

...And he blasted "the inappropriate decision-making and irrational application of political correctness in the attack at Fort Hood," the army base in Texas where US Army Major Nidal Hasan alleged killed 13 people in a shooting spree.

Post Giuliani New York has proven to be basically a progressive sewer. It makes one wonder if the effort to rebuild was really a good thing. The crap the Mayor is displaying now makes one wonder. New York city is bad for America

I am a lurker - guilty as charged.

I agree with you 100 percent. I am not a Giuliani for President type - however I am extremely grateful that he cleaned up NYC.

Mr. Stonehouse is reading his book right now.

I have a personal interest as my daughter attends college in lower Manhattan although we are Hudson Valley upstaters.

I agree - I am pro life, etc.

However - Rudy could not have prevented 9/11 - that was for the feds. And read history - the Spaniards (battle of Lepanto) had a hard time stopping the Turks and so did the Austrians. This is difficult.

Islam is here to take down America - Rudy did his best

Sara, you haven’t been at FR all that long, but I have to tell you, your posts are always insightful, and well reasoned. You have been blessed with common sense..... “common” sense.....talk about an oxymoron : )

Have a great Sunday!

Rudy could not have prevented 9/11 - Rudy did his best...

I disagree.

Prior to 9/11, previous terror suicide attacks against the US included: the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. The 2000 bombing of the USS Cole and the 1998 bombing of the U.S. embassies in Nairobi, Kenya and Dar es Salaam in Tanzania.

Some of the thoughts that continually haunt me:

<><> Why Rudy placed a prime target---the Mayor's Office of Emergency Mgmt-----smack dab in the WTC?

<><> Why 343 firefighters had to die standing in the WTC lobby ostensibly sent to "fight a fire" in a bldg struck by an airliner?

<><> Why no one listened when someone spoke up that terrorists in flight school said they wanted to learn how to takeoff---not how to land an aircraft?

<><> What happened to Giuliani's tax-exempt "charity" the "Twin Towers Fund". As we all recall, very publicly, for maximum PR impact, Rooty ripped up a huge Saudi check made on behalf of victims of 9/11. Later, Giuliani accepted huge Saudi checks made out to his consulting business, "Giuliani Partners.” The original Saudi check was made out to the "Twin Towers Fund"

Rudy appointed to the "charity's" Board of Directors Arnold Schwarzenegger and Judith Nathan who was then Rooty's mistress. Giulaini referred to Miss Nathan as a philanthropist. Mr Schwarzenegger used the tax-exempt "Twin Towers Fund" to help him launch his profit-making movie, "Collateral Damage," with Rudy and his entourage joining in on the gala premiere event.

The president of the International Association of Fire Fighters, said Giuliani gives every indication of using the Twin Towers Fund to maintain a staff of loyal supporters and to advance his political aspirations.

Giuliani then agreed to distribute the $100 million remaining in the city's "Twin Towers Fund" to the families of 430 uniformed and civilian rescuers killed on Sept. 11.

Now the ex-mayor---Giuliani's pledge came after weeks of criticism about his plans for the Twin Towers money, including threats of a lawsuit from police widows. The decision by the former mayor, who formed the Twin Towers Fund within days of the attack.

The move was a substantial victory for the families of the rescuers, many of whom have criticized Giuliani's efforts to privatize the fund, hire a staff of 12 to oversee its work and perhaps take months or even years to disburse its millions.

It remained uncertain if New York State's AG and the courts would approve the transfer of the $100 million Twin Towers Fund to the private charity of the same name that is controlled by Mr. Giuliani.

In recent weeks, while seeking control of the $100 million, Mr. Giuliani asserted that he had a ''sacred obligation'' to the families of the dead rescuers, and he suggested that fiscal prudence demanded a measured approach to distributing the money, taking perhaps as long as three years.

The police widows agreed to abandon their threats of a court fight to oppose the formal transfer of the $100 million to Giuliani.....and also agreed not to oppose Giuliani's continued control of roughly $15 million he has raised since leaving office in his new "private charity."

I am so sorry - mea culpa -

History shows us that Islam will stop at nothing to gain their Sharia.

Separation of Church and State is a joke for them. Their state is their religion. And people were worried about JFK (I am not a fan) being too tied to the Pope? Absurd.

On topic - third point - I am not sure that Guiliani would have had much info about the Florida flight school - that is for the Feds.

Your second point about the 343 has hit my heart.

I am not a Rudy apologist per se at all. I want to see the city safe.

Oh please---connect the dots. If ordinary citizens like myself knew, a Mayor of a large city would HAVE to know.

Elected officials have access to far more national security intel than ordinary citizens.

ANY type of intel that might affect a city THAT HAD ALREADY EXPERIENCED a terror attack would be a top priority.

History shows us that Islam will stop at nothing to gain their Sharia. Separation of Church and State does not exist for them. The state is their religion.

AUGUST 2010 The Obama WH announced the 'Coordinating Council of Muslim Organizations associated with the Muslim Brotherhood,' will bring 25-30 Muslim leaders of 20 national Muslim groups August 31 to Washington, DC.

The Muslim groups will attend a special workshop presented by the White House and US Government agencies, including Agriculture, Education, Homeland Security, HHS, etc., to provide the groups tax funding, government assistance and resources. "The August 31 workshop will provide special access for the Muslim Brotherhood organizations. We pledge to provide direct access and cut through red tape. " "The US Government and the Muslim groups will hold an Iftar dinner breaking the fast of Ramadan after the workshop. " SOURCE bigpeace.com

The Muslim Brotherhood in America

The Muslim Brotherhood is a group that's committed to jihad, sharia law and establishing Islamic domination in the U.S. The organization shares the same goals as al Qaeda, but some experts believe -- as a long-term threat to American security -- the Brotherhood is more dangerous than Osama bin Laden's followers.(Excerpt) Read more at cbn.com ...

I see now why RINO Mitt Perry refused to debate Bill White in his last gubernatorial election. I also see why he first tried to duck the last GOP presidential debate in CA and why he did so badly when he did show.

This dork is supposed to be our best chance of defeating Obama?!

God help us.
