A suicide attack at a Nato base in central Afghanistan injured 89 people, including 50 American soldiers.

JALALABAD: A suicide bomber driving a truck attacked an advance Nato combat post in central Afghanistan, wounding 89 people including 50 American soldiers, the United States Army said Sunday.

The Taliban claimed responsibility on their Internet site for Saturday’s attack, news of which came as the world marked the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks that killed almost 3,000 people in the United States.

US Army spokesman Major David Eastburn said: “It happened at 5:15 pm on Saturday.

“It detonated near the entry oint at a combat outpost, resulting in 89 wounded in action and a 20-foot hole in the wall.”

Turn the ME into a sheet of glass. What about the oil you say? Last I checked, we can drill through glass.

This AP story has 77 U.S. troops wounded.

Obama's strategy, against the wishes of his military commanders, is really working if he means to be maiming and killing more Americans.

If these very highest officers can NOT see that there is a problem with Obama’s natural born citizenship then they are either stupid or evil. ( We know they are not stupid.)

When did overlooking usurpation of the office of Commander in Chief, identity theft, multiple social security numbers, FORGERIES of birth documents, and criminal election fraud become part of the military code of honor?

Speaking of lack of honor, wintertime, a subject you are quite familiar with.

I see that even on the ten year anniversary of 9/11, you continue to shamelessly and brazenly spit your cowardly venom upon the honor of the U.S. military.

In a better era, you would be shunned. The military leadership is a lot of things. Too political. Too PC. Too bureaucratic. But evil? You think the officers of the U.S. military are evil?

You have been told many times that it's not the military's job to check the President's paperwork. The military serves the civilian government, the courts, and the people. You are either a knave or a fool to suggest they overturn the will of the people. At this point, I suspect both.

On behalf of the men and women of the U.S. military, let me extend a warm 9/11 greeting to you and yours.

"Suck it, scumbag."

I think the death toll might be being suppressed today. This sounds horrific.

I just found more details -- looks like our guys are mostly okay:

"Most of the force of the explosion was absorbed by the protective barrier at the outpost entrance," NATO said, adding that the damage was repairable and that operations were continuing.

Fewer than 25 Afghan civilians were also wounded, NATO said, adding that none of the 77 injuries sustained by the Americans were life-threatening.

Thank God.

It’s exactly that attitude that cost us 4000 more lives than the 3000 we lost on 9/11 ten years ago today.

“Total war” was the answer then. It is the answer now. Pussy-footing around worrying about enflaming the world isn’t total war. The “rest of the world” expects America to come-a-runnin’ when its @ss is in a sling. So the “rest of the world” can sit back, shut up, and hold on while we administer the justice for which we stand.

I can not defend a strawman of **your** creation. I have repeatedly stated that our men and women are brave, highly train, and people of high honor.

Our brave and honorable troops deserve to be serving under a legitimate Commander in Chief.

The **very** highest officers ( a **tiny** number) should be watching their backs. Do we really want a usurper in the White House with access to all of the most sensitive secrets, and the power to dictate insane ROEs?

I don’t think it was suppressed because the word will get out anyway. But I do think that some of those wounded will probably die of their injuries. hate to see one American over there military or civilian die.

The question is, what do we do about Afghanistan?

What I would NOT be doing is arming and fighting FOR our enemy in Libya while fighting against them elsewhere.

I do not think it's a coincidence that the violence has increased dramatically in Afghanistan and Iraq since we started arming Al Qaeda in Libya.

After Project Gunrunner, I trust nothing this President does.

"They said that about Japanese culture. It seems they had an attitude adjustment."

Japan was a fully-functional industrialized nation for all intents and purposes. Yes they maintained a peculiar eastern philosophy and outlook on the value of life alien to our western view, but yo cannot compare the then Japanese soociety with the current Afghan culture (or lack thereof).

The Afghans are just now learning about toothpaste and toilet paper, and that is not an exaggeration in the least.

I can not defend a strawman of **your** creation. I have repeatedly stated that our men and women are brave, highly train, and people of high honor.

And then they turn evil. That's not as strawman, that's your position. Anyone who spends too long in the military and gets promoted too high becomes "evil or stupid, and we know they're not stupid."

That's. Not. A. Strawman. That's your point.

Why is this crime less evil if a colonel or sergeant major does it? Or anyone else who is sword to ignore unlawful orders, knowing they can be punished for following unlawful orders? This isn't the Wehrmacht. If your commander tells you to line up kids, gun them down and turn their skin into lamp shades, you don't blame a **tiny** number at the top. You blame everyone who takes part. So, your argument doesn't hold water.

Checking Obama's paperwork isn't the military's job. It's the job of the congress, the courts and the people. You are slandering the entire military and you goddamned know it.

You are pathetic. This bullshit won't stand, not today. Not on a thread about 50 wounded U.S. Soldiers. In fact, I'll make time, for ten years of watching people die in Afghanistan and Iraq on your behalf, including field grade officers. I'll check in throughout the day to heap as much abuse on you as you want.

Admin, this is a courtesy ping. Feel free to ban me, but I am not letting this stand.

Suicide attack on NATO base? ON the NATO BASE? Even at an outpost ON the NATO base?

Was there no security perimeter around the outpost? No systems in place for vetting an approaching truck?

When a lone muzzie truck bears down towards an outpost ON a NATO base, do they think it's the Good Humor truck.....and start looking for loose change in their pockets?

Good grief!

Appalling!
