Obama changes rhetoric to try to sell Congress on transportation spending (new bank)
The Hill ^ | September 11, 2011 | Keith Laing

President Obama is changing his rhetoric in trying to get Congress to approve $50 billion in new spending on roads, bridges and railways.

Out are the words “stimulus” and even “infrastructure,” a term seemingly tied to the $787 billion economic stimulus package approved in 2009.

In is the word “jobs,” which is what the president says will be created if Congress approves his $447 billion package.

That Obama would ditch the word “stimulus” is hardly a surprise considering the political bruises he’s taken from Republicans, who say the stimulus failed to create the millions of jobs promised by the administration.

It’s a little more surprising that the president would avoid the word “infrastructure,” especially since a key part of the president’s plan would be to spend $10 billion to create a national infrastructure bank.

Obama says the bank would leverage private and public capital and invest in a broad range of projects to improve the nation’s rapidly eroding transportation network......

“The nation[U.S.] has over $2 trillion in infrastructure and social needs, and there is over $3 trillion in public sector pension funds,” said Randi Weingarten, president of the American Federation of Teachers and the leader of a group of public sector unions in the A.F.L.-C.I.O. that is studying the issue. “The question is, are there financially prudent ways to invest working men’s and women’s capital to create jobs and rebuild America’s infrastructure?” [end excerpt] Source

AFL-CIO Announces Commitment to Promote Large-Scale Infrastructure Investments …….AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka said:

”We at the AFL-CIO believe that together, with our partners in business and government, we can profitably invest at least $10 billion in workers’ capital over the next five years in public infrastructure projects to make America more competitive and energy-efficient.”

AFT [American Federation of Teachers 1.5 million members] President Randi Weingarten and AFL-CIO Building and Construction Trades President Mark Ayers will announce the initiative at the Clinton Global Initiative meeting and describe the partnership with investors, the government and businesses.

Teachers Union Prez Heads to Egypt: Should Obama Be Worried? …. [AFT] American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten recently led a delegation of union representatives to Cairo, Egypt to meet with “leaders of Egyptian unions that were instrumental in the recent political and governmental changes there,” according to a news release issued by the union.

Whoa. Are public sector unions planning a similar “regime change” here in America?

If not, why would Weingarten be cavorting in the Middle East at a time when American public schools are seeing massive dropout rates, budget reductions and reforms that strike at the base of union power?.....”

Stay focused on the Obama agenda....starting with Ms. Pelosi insisting America blindly pass the health care bill: (Nancy Pelosi: We Need to Pass Health Care Bill to Find Out What’s In It)...get past the ads.

(...How Many Times Did He Say 'Pass the Bill'? -- VIDEO)

Rather than acting like a president, Obama acts just like an Union organizer or a community organizer....America has a Marxist/Socialist man as POTUS.

Roads & bridges require CEMENT.

The EPA is throttling the USA cement business with rules & air standards that cannot be reached except in theory. The same kinds of theories that say a bumblebee cannot fly.

Where will the cement for all this repair come from?

Mexico???

In the Hill article it says that Obama billed this in his speech as an “infrastructure bank proposal, which is sponsored in the Senate by Sens. John Kerry (D-Mass.) and Kay Bailey Hutchinson (R-Texas)” — that it was the idea of a Mass dem and a Texas repub.

Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Rep. John Mica (R-Fla.) said he preferred encouraging states to create their own infrastructure bank instead of a “National Infrastructure Bank run by Washington bureaucrats requiring Washington approval and Washington red tape.”

There’s a lot of the Light Rail stuff being touted with this “plan” among other things.

The TARP and stimulus monies you took from us didn't go to squat to improve the economy.

The two Quantitative easings you have done didn't improve anything.

You want more monies?  Well, you do have a sense of humor.

But, really, is your scam all that funny?

"Shovel-ready was not as ... uh .. shovel-ready as we expected." The Council, led by GE's Jeffrey Immelt, erupted in laughter.

The Obama administration promised the Recovery Act ("the stimulus") would prevent the jobless rate from going over 8%. It now stands at 9.1%.

This White House has been, is and will continue to be run by the unions until Obama leaves in 2013.

The “green” economy is being fiercely protected by the Left. This is all tied together.

I missed Chris Matthews’ comments (saw him before the Reagan Library Debate — ahhhh the pain) — so he was agitated about this?

Economy of the Soviet Union

[snip]
...Based on a system of state ownership, the Soviet economy was managed through Gosplan (the State Planning Commission), Gosbank (the State Bank) and the Gossnab (State Commission for Materials and Equipment Supply). Beginning in 1928, the economy was directed by a series of five-year plans...

"...According to my opinion, and the opinions of many defectors of my caliber, only about 15% of time, money, and manpower is spent on espionage as such. The other 85% is a slow process which we call either ideological subversion, active measures, or psychological warfare.

What it basically means is: to change the perception of reality of every American that despite of the abundance of information no one is able to come to sensible conclusions in the interest of defending themselves, their families, their community, and their country.

It's a great brainwashing process which goes very slow and is divided into four basic stages.

The first stage being "demoralization".  [Got Liar Loans?]

It takes from 15 to 20 years to demoralize a nation.  Why that many years? Because this is the minimum number of years required to educate one generation of students in the country of your enemy exposed to the ideology of [their] enemy. In other words, Marxism-Leninism ideology is being pumped into the soft heads of at least 3 generation of American students without being challenged or counterbalanced by the basic values of Americanism; American patriotism..."

Lots of DC bureaucrats are ready to grab their slice of the money pie leaving only crumbs. Why doesn't Barry just cut the unions a check and stop with all of the ‘jobs’ flimflam?

Dear LomanBill,

And just in case you wondered, I do like the guitar.

Actually, that was done in my little rural county.

Our local weekly newspaper ran a story during Stimulus I that could have appeared in The Onion, except it was true.

Believe it or not, the BEST salaried people in our poor county are county employees. Under Stimulus I, every union teacher received $2,000. Nothing merit based about it, just two grand from Obama's stash. The reason was supposedly to keep those qualified and underpaid, faithful public servants on the job. Barf. You couldn't blast local teachers out of their pay and benefits.

Anyway, our local paper pointed out the obvious, how Obama expected a cut of the money in campaign donations, etc. It could have been written by a committee of Freepers.
