Gore in 24-hour broadcast to convert climate skeptics Photo 8:10am EDT

LONDON (Reuters) - Former President Al Gore will renew his 30-year campaign to convince skeptics of the link between climate change and extreme weather events this week in a 24-hour global multi-media event.

"24 Hours of Reality" will broadcast a presentation by Al Gore every hour for 24 hours across 24 different time zones from Wednesday to Thursday, with the aim of convincing climate change deniers and driving action against global warming among households, schools and businesses.

The campaign also asks people to hand over control of their social networking accounts on Facebook and Twitter to it for 24 hours to deliver Gore's message.

"There will be 200 new slides arguing the connection between more extreme weather and climate change," Trewin Restorick, chief executive of the event's UK partner Global Action Plan, told Reuters on Monday.

"There will be a full-on assault on climate skeptics, exploring where they get their funding from."

If he only yells louder and more stridently will the slow deniers comprehend his superior knowledge of the science involved.

What, like a Jerry Lewis telethon?!?!?! I can’t wait to see him at hour 23. Fat, sweaty, his shirt tail out of his pants. Stumbling around like a drunk with his arm around someone, looking direct in the camera begging people to believe. Then telling the story about how believers need to treat non-believers like he treated racists in the old South. “Tell them: you know, people just don’t talk that way any more.”

Gore is operating under the premise that if you tell lies over and over, some people will believe them. He is right. Some will.

Uncorrupted scientists need to counter this guy for scientific—not political—reasons. When the science is right, uncorrupted politicians will follow.

Former “President”? Al Gore.

Well despite the fevered fantasy of the “reporters”, we never had to withstand an Al Gore Presidency.

Now he’s reduced to a telethon.

Well. We Tennessee voters tried to keep him from doing more harm in a position of power. I’m sure if we could vote to stop him from rampaging the countryside swinging his hammer of doom we would. But we only have so much control over our citizens.

Actually, the plasic bottles allow me to use less deisel to keep it going. It’s kinda interesting. I produce so little “final” garbage that I drop it off at the trash receptical at the gas station every couple of fill-ups.

That includes recycling the aluminum, which is actually worth something.

I will start with a very simple question Mr Gore. If you believe in Global Warming / Climate Change and the obvious need to reduce one’s carbon footprint, why did you buy your new modest ocean-view bachelor pad ($9 million / six fireplaces / five bedrooms / nine bathrooms) in Montecito, California? Why do I smell a scam artist at work?

"24 Hours of Reality" will broadcast a presentation by Al Gore every hour for 24 hours...

So it will be 1 hour repeated 24 times. Isn't there something in the Constitution about "cruel and unusual punishment?"

Back in the early 70’s we used to dump water, draino and aluminum foil into the bottom of a one litre 7-up bottle (they were glass back then) to produce hydrogen. We’d use it to fill up balloons and release them with a lit string at night.

Real purdy when they popped.

The heat generated would eventually break the bottle, btw.
