Don Lemon: Watching Palin's transformation
cnn ^ | 09/12/11 | Don Lemon

Instead of ruing her lot as an outsider, she embraced it. And by doing so, in just a few years Palin has outmaneuvered, even leapfrogged her Professor Higgins, John McCain. So, regardless of her decision about a presidential run, Palin has positioned herself as the kingmaker of conservative politics.

Palin fatigue?

Palin speaks at rally How did she do it? Perhaps by sheer shrewdness or sheer luck, Palin spotted an opportunity early on with a growing chorus of other self-proclaimed outsiders, the tea party, and seized on it. Now, while the Republican straw polls, caucuses and debates play out, Palin simply orbits around it all, eclipsing her show's extras, the supposed front-runners.

In fact, it can be argued that some of the front-runners ascended to their current positions because Sarah Palin helped them get there.

Two things, I think, are in play here. One, Palin gave Lemon all the time he wanted to ask impromptu questions in Iowa. Two, she did so inspite of the left’s attempt at saying she hates gays.

When respect is given, it is likely earned.

Sarah changing the mind of my son - not to mention the NYT - is stunning to me.

As it has been stated: ‘Like a marine, she runs into the fire”. We ain’t seen nothin’ yet - wait until she is free of her FAUX exclusive contract!

She is clearly operating inside the media and establishment GOP’s OODA loop.

she runs into the fire

Yep. That really stood out for me with her WI "Game On" speech. WI had become the focal point in the Tea Party's war with the left, and all the other would-be leaders of the free world were awol. Not her. Right to the sound of the guns she went, to do her share in getting the win. Leaders, real leaders, lead by example, inspiring countless others to follow in their footsteps. They succeed because their example becomes a force multiplier, making them a thousand times more powerful than they ever could be on their own. Reagan understood this. Sarah gets this. I doubt if any of the others really do.

CNN, NYT, LAT, the YellowStream media is seeing the actual polling results and catching onto the fact that they will either print fair Palin pieces or miss the coming tidal wave. Palin's supporters are not going to spend any time or money on re-hashed hit-pieces or the scum that produce them.

If last November wasn't enough of a "wake-up" call to the YellowStream Journalists, the current Palin poll numbers (the real, accurately administered ones) show her in a statistical tie with Myth for Second Place, and she ain't even running yet!

Roughly 90 hours to go until the tsunami hits, in my estimation. Pull those belts tight, this is going to be one helluva ride!

Yes, it is an interesting read, but I wouldn’t read too much into it. Lemon could be a real snake-in-the-grass.

Definitely, and I see the very existance of the TEA party as an out-growth of Palin’s unorthodox campaign. She has inspired “The People” to re-emerge.

To get less than Palin for president will extinguish the TEA party fire; I pray it all works out.

Excellent reference. John Boyd is (was?) a great military strategist and fighter pilot......I have read some of his articles years ago on getting inside the turning cycle of your opponent...and essentially hitting them from the inside out.....precisely how SP is playing the game. Pretty cool reference !!

Yes it is intersting.

One argument with the article, “Palin spotted an opportunity early on with a growing chorus of other self-proclaimed outsiders, the tea party, and seized on it.” Nope. Sarah was Tea Party before the Tea Party was Tea Party.

I would HIGHLY recommend the book "Boyd: the fighter pilot who changed the art of war" by Robert Coram.

Very well-written biography of a fascinating man. You'll learn a great deal from this book, on many subjects. John Boyd was (truly) at the level of Sun Tzu. In many ways Boyd was not a likable individual (he died in 1997) but his contributions to this country were immense.

Fascinating book. I've read it twice, couldn't put it down either time.

Thank's for the heads up on the book. I didn't know about it. It's now on my list to buy and read. GO SARAH !!

Don't ever underestimate political savant Sarah Palin. I think she is no doubt running. The style of her campaign will be the vanguard for future candidates.

She will keep it simple and direct, with emphasis on what she can do to reclaim, restore and renew our great country.

She knows if this works, it will set the stage for other outstanding but not necessarily beltway/country club/establishment politicos.

You mean in the future relatively unknown gifted people can run? You betcha'!
