Palin Defends Perry on Social Security

Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry has taken a lot of heat for his critical comments toward Social Security. Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin says that Social Security shouldn’t just be jettisoned but that the Texas governor is right to call for reform.

"Well there's no need to frighten or throw under the bus our esteemed elders who have paid all of their working lives into the Social Security system. And the question should be asked of the politicians, where the heck is their money?" Palin said on Fox News.

"What Rick Perry was trying to say I believe is that there needs to be reform. Status quo is not acceptable because these programs are insolvent . . . So he's saying reform is necessary, and we either reform these entitlement programs ourselves or the world capital markets will reform them for us."

Perry’s main competition for the presidential nomination, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, cuts him no such slack. His campaign is passing out a flier in Florida ripping Perry as "reckless and wrong on Social Security."

She said this days ago, right?

This is just a re-hash, right?

Your post 35 provides an eye-opening revelation as to Perry's character.

If he did that to suppress Palin in some way, then Perry is toast with me.

Thank you.

Perry needs to come out with a Social Security Fix Proposal that alleviates fears of current recipients and probably anyone over 50.

The only solution is to make sure that they understand that their retirements will be covered via the general fund regardless of the solvency of the system.

Means testing should kick in at some point, though.

That of course would mean that our politicians would have to show leadership to assuage the bad feelings created by this blatant violation of trust so all non-military federal pensions will have to capped at $50,000 and all legislative pensions will have to ended with our legislators getting the means-tested SS for their retirements.

I find it funny when Perry supporters say Palin’s gonna endorse Perry or be his VP. She hasn’t decided whether to run or not and you are already courting her endorsement.

Personally, I've always found it hypocritical. They're scared sh!tless she will enter the race because they don't think she can win, but at the same time believe she has enough power to help their candidate win through her endorsement.

This is complete and utter bull malarky!I refuted this claim in another thread titled something like...’Perry jealous of Palin’. Why didn’t you post the video? The video shows the truth.

I watched the video in full screen twice.

I saw Palin step back to give the podium to Perry. He did not disrespect Gov. Palin in any way;(if anything they looked rushed to move on to another agenda/meeting) and Perry seemed lke he got a cue from off stage to move it along.Click below and kindly scroll down to see for yourself..

http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=46056

If it looked like Perry was in command he was; he chairs The Republican Governors Association (RGA).

As Gov. Perry chairs the RGA committee. It may be why he took the podium/ microphone to move things along when Palin stepped back? The reters last question was ridiculous and it looks like Gov. Perry saw this and decided they were on a time schedule.Unless I hear differently from Gov. Palin, her and Perry are good friends, she endorsed him and there is no contention.

As far as the other video of all the governor’s standing on a stage and Palin is ‘visibly uncomfortable’,please post a link or video.I doubt it as she is such a superb human being full of humility yet full of confidence; she would never feel this way.

Sarah Palin is running. If any of you are thinking she will be ensorsing Perry, you best find your Plan-B.

CRONY CAPITALISM - THY NAME IS RICK PERRY !

“Roll up your sleeve for Rick Perry” (and I mean the forced-vaccination use of “roll up your sleeve”)

Possibly just maybe possibly common sense is utilized in believing Palin when she says she does not need a title. And she is a good spokesperson. Her endorsement being an outstanding thing does not make her running (as of yet) a frontrunner nominee. It may also be some people’s opinions that Palin has as much of a chance at the nomination and beating Obama as Bachmann has. If not less. That does not make people anti-Palin or Bachmann. If you were to post you don’t think Bachmann has a chance at the nomination right now, that does not necessarily make you dislike Bachmann nor her policies.Just because the above may exist and they’re are people scared Palin could not pull it off does not make them bad people,or some how anti-Christian,or anti Palin.

Glad to hear Sarah sticking up for what is right and Rick Perry is right on SS.

Still will prefer Sarah but it is good to see another R not back down on SS or capital punishment (why is this a presidential debate issue anyway-rhetorical question—Brian Williams would rather not talk about the economy)

Now if Rick can find a way to close the borders

Here we go again with the “Palin is going to make a better president than RINO Perry” comments. Palin is not a candidate. Talk of her being the better nominee are just a fantasy. When she gets in, you can say what you want but for now, you need to pick a horse who is in the race. The posts about Palin as nominee are just wishful thinking. And besides, Palin gets along with Perry and is close to him ideologically. If she does not get in, my bet is she will endorse him enthusiastically.

Best to stop it flat right now.

Will never happen in a million years. Grandma/Grandpa need their checks every month. If they don't get em, they vote Democrat. Simple.

I’ve posted that video several times (a couple of times Perry supporters told me “I don’t see what you see”).....I’m glad you see it...Didn’t know much about Perry and watched the press conference just to see Palin back in 2008.....Completely turned me off of him....No class, jealous politician, and he did cut it short because ALL questions were being addressed to her....Did you catch the part where he even pointed to a reporter and said “Who do you want?”, obviously trying to tie a question to himself, and when the reporter didn’t take the bait watch his face as he trys to stay composed and grabs Palin by the arm and pushes her forward.....Real ###hole......

We were watching different interviews, I suppose you are going to tell me that Gov Palin was not talking about Perry when she went on about Crony Capitalism?? LOL

If you are going with that argument let me educate you....

It was reported by mega media that Gov Palin was going to mention Crony capitalism etc and it was going to be a hit on Romney without mentioning his name specifically.

If Gov Palin wanted to correct that impression, she had multiple opportunities to do so. Also C4P was certain these attacks were indeed aimed at Perry, Sarah did nothing to say......that`s not what I meant at all, SHE DID NOT

Gov Palin is running against Perry and will announce sometime in the next couple weeks!

See post 48 (not mine) because I think you picked up the wrong vibes.

Sarah does not want to sound like she is openly attacking Perry, because she will need Perry supporters votes once Ricky drops out

Perry is in no way, shape or form a RINO.

Is he perfect? NO.

But do not confuse Perry with RINOs like

Mitt, Pawlenty, Huntsman, McCain, etc.

Sarah endorsed Perry, and barring Palin getting in, if Perry is good enough for Sarah, he’s good enough for me.

Note: Perry has been attacked ALL FRIKIN DAY today in the media. It is obvious who the Liberal Shrews fear now.

“Perry needs to come out with a Social Security Fix Proposal that alleviates fears of current recipients and probably anyone over 50. A good start would be increase age of eligibility, a “means” test and eliminate the Cap on earnings for social security contributions.”

I am solidly against “means testing”, arrogant Federal assholes(politicians) promised every American that payed into it a return on that [forced] investment.

Every last American who was FORCED to put 12% to 15% of their income into that Ponzi Scheme deserve and equal share of what was taken from them. Just because John ended up being more successful in life then Joe, doesn’t mean John didn’t get the same promus as Joe and was forced to pay actually higher rates then Joe.

Means testing is wrong. That wasn’t even the deal when this corrupt Ponzi scheme was ramed down our throats by FDR’s so called “greatest generation”.

By all rights this scheme should be volenerized, whatever money there is and banknotes for money owed should be given immediately to every American who has payed in in proportion.

Let each American choose how to “invest” this money for their own individual future.
