All Believers have a special and unique relationship with God. Yes, but that is not how it comes off in the context of the peice. The author is claiming to be a prophet.
As a rhetorical device it isn't such a good idea, unless you goal is to get 98% of your audience to tune out.

I do believe in God. But I do not believe that the author has any special and unique insight into the mind of God apart from what is already revealed in the Bible.
