Turkey Dispatches 3 Warships to Eastern Mediterranean
Arutz Sheva ^ | 12/9/11 | Gavriel Queenann

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has dispatched 3 warships to the Eastern Mediterranean to 'defend against Israeli vessels' and ensure 'freedom of navigation' for his country’s ships, Today's Zaman reported.

The move, only the latest in Erdogan's bellicose rhetorical assault on Israel, comes on the same day he called Israel's boarding of the Gaza-bound Mavi Marmara in 2010 "grounds for war" adding only Turkey's "greatness and patience" had averted conflict.

During the boarding action 9 Turkish nationals who participated in a mob that attempted to lynch the commandos were killed when non-lethal weapons the boarding party was equipped with as their primary arms proved insufficient to stop the lethal threat necessitating the use of live fire.

While the UN Palmer Report criticized Israel's use of force resulting in the deaths as "excessive," it also concluded Israel's blockade of Gaza was "legal and appropriate" under international law.

But Erdogan, whose government has rejected the UN stance in the Palmer Report, insists Turkish ships will provide protection for ships bringing humanitarian aid to Gaza and confront Israeli warships outside of Israel's territorial waters if necessary, according to the report.

War is imminent i’m afraid. After the U.N. approves the Palestinian state and Israel rejects the U.N. mandate there will be war.... within days.

If I was in the scrap metals business, I would shadow those Greek ships.

They are wise to strike now with Obama in office. he will seek peace and the UN. what would happen if Bush was in power—or Sarah Palin? or Rick Perry? or even Mittens? Its like the Fall of Saigon all over again. Expect an airlift of people out of Israel if the Muslems seize the place with their natural savagery and hate. A good US president could stop this—but we haven’t had one of those in two years!

It already did 10 years ago. The past decade was just the first phase. This is the second.

Nope.

Expect millions of dead muslims as Israel uses their tactical battlefield neutron weaponry.

Followed quickly by sabre rattling from Russia and then WW3 begins in earnest as Russia threatens action and Israel reminds them that they can deliver city-buster 1MT weapons on her in minutes.

Pray!

I sorta agree. I think the past 10 years have been more of a “cold war” though. All of the players are not on the field yet. Nation states will soon be taking up arms against us and our allies. Sides will be taken and large numbers of people will die.

Maybe trying to look good at home? Does Israel stop them in international or territorial waters?

Before anybody panics, let’s look at the reality of this, K?

Operating Warships in potentially enemy waters without air cover is a DEATH SENTENCE for the crews. Erdogan may want to Sabre rattle, but his Air Force is out-classed, and doesn’t have long range capability.

Turkish ground forces massively outnumber the Israelis, but they would have to travel through Lebanon first, with long lines of supply vunerable to air and sea attack. And as soon as they lift the boot off of the Kurds to fight Israel, they will declare independence from Turkey, and cause a civil war.

Jordan won’t want ANYTHING to do with this, Syria has severe internal problems already that a war won’t solve, and Egypt couldn’t field a sizable army right now even if they wanted to.

The Saudi’s and the Gulf States will sit it out. Iraq, Libya and Algeria are no longer capable of projecting military power outside their own borders. Morocco doesn’t want to play, either.

The ONLY wildcard left in the region is IRAN, and there is a buffer called Iraq, as well as internal dissent that could keep them out of it, other than through supporting terrorist actions by their puppets in Lebanon.

Frankly, Israel shouldn’t fear this move much, and even if it turns in to a shooting incident, the Turkish Generals will overthrow Erdogan before he takes them to full-scale ground war.

We are watching a president in total failure mode. He has nearly destroyed our economy and now we are watching the Middle East collapse and suck in millions of lives because of his failure. Very few presidents in our history would have sat back and let the Middle East spin out of control like it has. The price of oil? The sky is the limit.

The Hildebeast? She is an incompetent Secretary of State.
