Turkey Dispatches 3 Warships to Eastern Mediterranean
Arutz Sheva ^ | 12/9/11 | Gavriel Queenann

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has dispatched 3 warships to the Eastern Mediterranean to 'defend against Israeli vessels' and ensure 'freedom of navigation' for his country’s ships, Today's Zaman reported.

The move, only the latest in Erdogan's bellicose rhetorical assault on Israel, comes on the same day he called Israel's boarding of the Gaza-bound Mavi Marmara in 2010 "grounds for war" adding only Turkey's "greatness and patience" had averted conflict.

During the boarding action 9 Turkish nationals who participated in a mob that attempted to lynch the commandos were killed when non-lethal weapons the boarding party was equipped with as their primary arms proved insufficient to stop the lethal threat necessitating the use of live fire.

While the UN Palmer Report criticized Israel's use of force resulting in the deaths as "excessive," it also concluded Israel's blockade of Gaza was "legal and appropriate" under international law.

But Erdogan, whose government has rejected the UN stance in the Palmer Report, insists Turkish ships will provide protection for ships bringing humanitarian aid to Gaza and confront Israeli warships outside of Israel's territorial waters if necessary, according to the report.

“We are watching a president in total failure mode.”

Whenever Obama has had a chance to shine, he has chosen to do EXACTLY the wrong things instead, like with PORKULUS, Jr.

Even many Democrats now freely admit this, as well.

This is about the most sensible analysis of the situation in that region I have heard for a while. Unfortunately and regrettably the only way to quiet things down for a while, not necessarily bring peace in that region will be if one side wins and the other side loses. Not to mention that the religion of “Peace” which dominates this region doesn’t help things either.

If Turkey screws around the wrong way with Israel, she will send those warships to the bottom of the Mediterranean Sea.

Any odds for Obama to say Turkey is acting stupidly?

A lot more than 10. We lost almost 100,000 KIA in that one. It wasn’t cold.

The sculptor Gaudier Brzeska wrote to Ezra Pound that wars were made to rid the world of excess humanity. Shortly afterwards, he died in the trenches of WW I. Economic problems? I hope Erdogan’s 72 virgins are all Helen Thomas lookalikes on steroids.

This is what will happen in that day: When Gog attacks the land of Israel, my hot anger will be aroused, declares the Sovereign LORD. 19 In my zeal and fiery wrath I declare that at that time there shall be a great earthquake in the land of Israel. 20 The fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the beasts of the field, every creature that moves along the ground, and all the people on the face of the earth will tremble at my presence. The mountains will be overturned, the cliffs will crumble and every wall will fall to the ground. 21 I will summon a sword against Gog on all my mountains, declares the Sovereign LORD. Every man’s sword will be against his brother. 22 I will execute judgment on him with plague and bloodshed; I will pour down torrents of rain, hailstones and burning sulfur on him and on his troops and on the many nations with him. 23 And so I will show my greatness and my holiness, and I will make myself known in the sight of many nations. Then they will know that I am the LORD.’

I hope you are correct, your logic runs true, but we are dealing with an irrational islamicist actor who might be bucking for 72 virgins or the caliphate, either way.

Excellent analysis. As someone who lived in the region for years, I agree that any attempt at a overland invasion by Turkey would be fraught with difficulty, not the least of which would be the projection of supply lines through Lebanon.

Still, it is interesting that Ezekiel 38 speaks of a future invasion of Israel from the "uttermost parts of the north," led by Gog and Magog. This is historically modern Turkey as well as the Central Asia republics.

Up until recently Turkey was neutralized by its secular government and friendly relations with Israel. However, that has all been turned on its head, and Turkey is rapidly falling in with her Islamic cohorts and assuming a hostile stance towards Israel. One could easily imagine such an invasion should circumstances change, including, for example, a compliant Islamic Republic of Lebanon.

Also curious is that Egypt escapes mention among the nations attacking Israel in that future war. However, in the near term anyway the danger is considerable, not from the a questionable chance of success of armored thrusts through the formidable barrier of the Sinai, but rather from the sky.

Already hundreds of rockets are falling on Israeli territory from Gaza, smuggled from Egypt. It is just a matter of time before the rain of missiles forces Israel to respond militarily, not just against Gaza but also against (potentially future) launch sites in Egyptian territory in the northern Sinai. That, along with the imminent declaration of Palestinian statehood and the ominous threat from Iran, indicates that a cataclysm of biblical proportions may not be far removed.
