Sarah Palin says she is not afraid to call out fellow Republicans when she thinks they have been "part of the problem." On Monday night, Palin accuses Republican candidate for President Rick Perry of engaging in "crony capitalism." Perry, as governor of Texas, mandated that young girls get a vaccination for the HPV virus in an executive order. Perry is criticized for this in part because of his connections to the drug manufacturer Merck.

Guess they haven’t scrutinized the fact that SarahPAC only spends about 10% on actual campaign contributions to Conservative candidates.
Perry would agree with you! He as much as said selling out for a measly $5K would give selling out a bad name!
He said he’s raked in $30M and the last thing he needs is for all those million-$-plus donors to think they could have bought the same influence for a mere $5K!
Too much of the system in TX and DC operates this way, and Perry’s long been recognized as one of the biggest pay-to-play players. Gov. Goodhair is something of a Blago of the South.
She is not a good candidate.
Its kind of funny watching the Perrybots claim it didn’t happen but just in case it did, its OK.

Interesting that so many Perry supporters consistantly want to hinge Palin to endorsing Perry.....so they obvious see that Palin is indeed significant. However, Palin has not endorsed anyone for the Primary and those saying so are wishful thinking only.
Reluctantly, I have to agree. I’ve been on the Palin bandwagon for some time now. It is time for conservatives to unite behind Perry and for Palin to endorse him. After 30 years of politics, I’m sure we can find many things to nitpick Perry about. Palin had her chance, She chose not to run and take the slings and arrows of campaigning. The future is too serious not to coalesce early around a conservative candidate and push for absolute victory in 2012.
It is something that needs to be hauled into the light, and one of my minor worries about Perry, or indeed any politician, is how deep they are in the hip pockets of their big donors. We know all about that here, and it ain’t pretty.
While I wasn’t terribly impressed with Bachman in the debate (only just watched it now and, while passionate, she did not look like ideal President fodder to me) it is a valid charge and really needs to be discussed.
My biggest regret is that Palin didn’t join the debate, despite the invitation to do so. This sniping from the sidelines is not her style.
We were at the post debate party last night and Perry is FANTASTIC at retail politics!!! He had the crowd ROCKIN!! Mitt was STIFF.
If he has broken laws, he needs to be prosecuted. I hardly think this contribution makes him guilty of breaking a law. If this is the best his critics can come up with, it’s best to dig deeper and put the same scutiny on all the candidates.

I agree, Plain is talking about crony capitalism; and that she points to the HPV Exec Order as a bit of evidence. But I don't think a fair reading of Palin's remarks admits concluding that she is accusing Perry. "Something was up," yes, and Palin had pointed to Perry's chief of staff.
Well, someone? That someone, as Michele Bachmann pointed out, was Governor Perry's former chief of staff, who then went to work for a drug company who made the drug that would be required of the Texan government to mandate that, that our young daughters would have to be inoculated against potential disease from the company that his former chief of staff was lobbying for. That's crony capitalism.

I don’t think he did it for a measly $5K either, but the likely crony connection is fairly strong.
I take it you either didn’t listen to Palin’s Indianola speech or you somehow didn’t hear the message. Crony capitalism may be hard to prove in a lot of cases—winks and nods are seldom captured as evidence—but it surely what makes lots of campaign donations go round and keeps DC ever expanding their budgets and spending.
If you want to stop the deficit spending that is killing this country you have to get at the root of it, and that is crony capitalism from both the GOP and Democrat sides. Electing for president the governor currently most famous for crony capitalism (and that predates Palin making a mention about it) is a necessary start if we are going to save our country.
Clear indication that she will run....this break with Perry.
I hear that she has some kind of a contract clause with Fox that prevents her from announcing at this time.
Romney needs Bachmann in there to help him beat up on Perry. It's like a demolition derby. I'm not sure if these attacks will strengthen Perry for the run against Zero or weaken him.
If this $5,000 from Merck is the best example they can come up to use against Perry as being a "crony capitalist", then he's pretty squeaky clean.
