Did Ron Paul just defend al Qaeda? Presidential candidate's campaign rocked by comment at GOP debate
Daily Mail UK ^ | September 13, 2011

Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul was hushed by deafening boos from a crowd of Tea Partiers at Monday's GOP Presidential debate, after suggesting America's foreign police played a role in the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Mr Paul attempted to position his argument to slash military spending, contending that occupation was the 'real motivation' behind acts of terrorism by Muslim extremists against the U.S.

But a provocative retort from presidential candidate, Pennsylvania lawmaker Rick Santorum, instead drew wide support, after he dismissed Mr Paul's comments as 'irresponsible'.

Prior to the Tea Party debate, Mr Paul, 76, had reflected on the U.S. response to the 9/11 attacks in his weekly Texas Straight Talk column.

He argued that 'the attacks of 9/11 deserved a response. But the manner in which we responded has allowed radicals in the Muslim world to advance a very threatening narrative about us and our motivation in occupying their lands.'

We are in 138 Countries around the World. We don’t need to be playing Globo-Cop.

Before 9/11 what Islamic nation were we “occupying”?

Is having a military presence in a nation that wants you there “occupation” to Ron Paul?

“He pushed the al queda justification that “Palestine has not been treated fairly”

No, he didn’t. If you choose, go back and watch it again ( I will, probably several times). While I disagree with the point he was trying to make, he stated what the STATED reasoning behind the attacks, was (which we all do know is a lie). I don’t know if he is unable to understand that the Islamists are lying, or what, but saying he was pushing that (while really paraphrasing what their leaders had said), is disingenious.

He was wrong, and I will not support his statements, but I think it’s important to accurately identify what it is that he said.

“We don’t need to be playing Globo-Cop.”

True, but we need to have treaties and make good on them. I say if we have no mutually beneficial, legal treaty, we get out. If we do, then we fulfill our obligations. There is nothing wrong with partnering with other countries for mutual benefit. There is a big problem with being the world’s sugar daddy and baby sitter.

How did Rand Paul spring from his loins?

OK that has nothing to do with the treasonous defending of al qaeda right after Sept 11. Now go back to your cave.

“While I disagree with the point he was trying to make, he stated what the STATED reasoning behind the attacks, was (which we all do know is a lie). “

The reason for the attacks is islamofascism, pure and simple. Ron Paul didn’t want to say this because it doesn’t blame America’s foreign policy so he accepted the stated reasons, instead.

“I would love to hear RuPaul explain the Islamofascist attacks and murders elsewhere around the globe: Spain, London, Bali, Mumbai, etc. etc. etc.”

That’s an easy one for him.

THE JOOOOOOS...

If the only choice is between

(1) Ron Paul's isolationist anti-Semitism, and

(2) ten years of no-win whack-a-mole in which our blood and treasure are spilt so that the Islamists can gain power in both Iraq and Afghanistan...

then frankly I flip a coin. There must be another option.

Dems have Dennis Kucinich, we have Ron Paul; that’s pretty much a wash.

Yes, there is. That would be calling a spade, a spade. Stop all of the "RoP" nonsense. Eventually, if this country and the rest of Western Civilization are to be saved, izlam must be stopped. That EVIL needs to be extracted from Western Civilization, root and branch. That is the option that we will be forced to choose, hopefully sooner rather than later.

But Dennis Kucinich didn’t poll 12% in his presidential bid, as CNN is saying Paul does. Does that mean the Democrats have fewer kooks in their ranks than the GOP? If 12% of “conservatives” agree with Paul then we’re in trouble.

Not that I'm a fan of Santorum, but I was proud to see and hear him chastise that lunatic, Paul. I saw anger in in his (Santorum”s) face when he replied to the nutjob, Paul. Good on ya, Rick!

This is the very reason that Ron Paul must be allowed to continue debating. Not because he's right, but because he's so wrong that people need to wake up to exactly what it is we're facing. We've spent almost 10 years at war now in the Middle East, but we've got enemy camps inside our own borders that we won't do anything about. Until we realize that ISLAM AS A WHOLE is the true enemy and not the "Islamic Terrorist Nation of the Month", we're never going to win this war.

Rand Paul is actually at the beginning of what could be a pretty productive Senate career. This morning he has to be swilling Maalox, wondering just how the heck he is gonna dance away from this one.

I agree with your comment. The other thing that’s off-putting about Ron Paul is the behavior of some of his supporters.
