“Opting-Out” of HPV Vaccine WILL NOT WORK for Many in Texas Governor Perry is misleading legislators and families in Texas by claiming that they will be able to “opt-out” of having their 6th grade daughter vaccinated with the vaccine for the sexually transmitted virus HPV. For many families currently, the exemption isn’t worth the piece of paper it is printed on. Besides the simple fact that parents should not have to get permission from the state to make informed consent medical decisions for their own children, here are four reasons why “opting-out” of sate mandated vaccines doesn’t work for many families in Texas:

You do know that he has been elected three times and that he ran against a Democrat every time, don't you? Those Democrats used every particle of dirt they could find against him and if you think Texas Democrats are somehow weak or even honest, you're even dumber than I thought.

And don't forget that Kay Hutchison's campaign taught the Dems a thing or two about dirty campaigning, and Perry went on to trounce her.

Very true. And the Texas Tea Party came out in force to support him. Its weird that people who say they’re conservatives are trashing him.

“who say they’re conservatives”

There’s your key. They are merely keyboard ideologues, and they consider anyone who doesn’t meet their ridiculous standards as “Rinos.” They couldn’t get elected dogcatcher anywhere with their rigid ideologies.

We all know that Perry lost the implementation battle that is not the point.

The point is he was using the opt out crap as a way to cover his misdeed....anyone can clearly see that the “OPT_OUT” was a farce and would not have significantly provided an option for parents.

"RINO" tops my list of political buzzwords that ought to be retired because they're completely devoid of meaning. RINO on FR basically means "anyone who says they're a Republican but disagrees with me or with my favorite candidate". Not very informative, if you ask me.

And it is a parent’s choice to send his kids to a private school.

Yes, but there is no option to opt out of the property taxes which pay for those public schools. Those parents would essentially be paying for education twice.

“And it is a parent’s choice to send his kids to a private school.”

Of which many did not accept the opt outs.

Just why do you believe We the People must “opt out” of a tyrannical law??? Because it is a Republican candidate being held to creating it?

Funny, my daughter was never coerced to get vaccinated when she went into 6th grade.

It was such a non issue that it was forgotten until now.

If he will let me opt out of being affected by any more illegal aliens, close the border, deport all the illegal aliens that already infect the area I inhabit and support with my taxes, repeal obamacare, and reverse every executive order issued by obama, I'll vote for him.

Go hyperventilate somewhere else. I'm sure Alex Jones agrees with you. People who obsess over inconsequential issues deserve pity and ridicule. The whole Gardasil issue is inconsequential--except that it is a proven effective vaccination which prevents one of the most deadly forms of cancer and unless it is given before exposure to the virus, it is ineffective.

I think that those who are against it are the dangerous people. Imagine if you could virtually eliminate lung cancer or pancreatic cancer simply by giving children an inoculation--that is analogous to what is being discussed here.

Perry was correct, he just went about it in the wrong way and the pity is that people like you can't seem to comprehend what this is all about.

I know what this is about, people who are obsessed over the Gardasil issue have another agenda, you just aren’t intellectually honest enough to post it. That’s okay, your ability to reason has also been exposed.

Perry's attempted mandate on the consumers of health insurance reminds me of the algore tax for promotion of the internet that required, and still does, telephone companies collect the tax.

Public health vaccination policy is far from inconsequential.

Mr. Perry's dictatorial executive order to force it upon 12 year old girls is very consequential and not a sign of a leader we can tolerate.

Mr. Perry's reaction to the Texas Legislature's take-back of his overreaching EO is quite telling. At the time the Texas Legislature revoked his order, Perry acted just like Obama, arrogantly truculent, refusing to accept honest rebuke, using play actors and straw dogs to isolate himself like a MacBeth in his Castle, mocking his opponents with naught effect but folly.

But worst of all is the reaction post-debate of the Perry supporters. Some much of it is the horrid and detestable "STFU" reaction, or arrogantly dismissive statements like "those who are against it are the dangerous people", "[opponents] deserve pity and ridicule", or "[opponents] can't comprehend what this is all about/i>".

Bullying behavior. We've sen it in the Global Warming Scam, we saw it here in Pennsylvania in the GOP whenever Spector ran for Senate. The party bullies insisted, demanded, enforced Spector support in the primaries and said to the Toomey supporters "STFU", "get outta here".

Well after he won reelection Specter defected, and all that internal GOP bullying resulted in the enemies gaining control of the US Senate.

Bullying on behalf on your choice of candidate is a sure poisoning of the community well. It is incredibly destructive.
