You shouold post this is a half-dozen more Perry threads, and then for fun post it as breaking news activism as it’s own thread.

Oh wait, you did that already.

ThinkProgress sends their love, and the idiots at ZeroHedge thank you for the blog hits.

>>> The Pa apportionment plan, if it goes through could actually benefit the Republican in the General. <<<

Well that’s a relief to hear. Thanks. I did read where Pennsylvania has gone wobbly on Obama enough to make him vulnerable. And with the right candidate.....

Surely we can pull Virginia out. Senator what’s his name who is not going to re-up anyway was very moderate on several issues.

Yes, Bachman did her job very well on that score, apparently. We get a couple more weeks of this, and none of our candidates will be close to Obama anymore.

Yeah whatever bud....u believe what you will the fact remains....Perry is a ghost of what is wrong with this country...

Go about your business and pretend all is okay...we will see where that gets ya..

And by the way if you google past those sites you might find the more tangible sites that have it as well.

That’s the video where the guy comes up to Perry at a bank of america event and says he’s from bank of america, right? How did a bank of america guy get into a bank of america event to begin with?

And he said he wanted to help Rick Perry. Who goes to campaign events and tells the candidate they want to help get them elected? That never happens in real life.

I’ve never seen anybody in a video come up to Palin and say “we’ll do whatever it takes” to her or anything like that.

I heard that Perry was playing monopoly, and someone gave him a get out of jail free card. Maybe you could report him to AttackWatch.

LOL, yes Alan Keyes is great debater. He got my votes.

Debates will matter when it is our guy against Obama.

Perry made a near fatal mistake referencing his own ability to be bribed. When Bachmann mentioned that his campaign manager worked for the drug company and that the drug company made a contribution, Perry said that they gave him $5000 out of $30,000,000 in total contributions and that “if you think I can be bought for $5000 then I am insulted”.

An accomplished debater would have hit that out of the park. As much as we dislike Obama, he is a trained lawyer and will slam him with amatuerish remarks like that. Bachmann (or Paul or even Romney) could have and should have floored him right there, could have knocked 10 points out of him with a set-up like that.

The debates do matter in close races when it is us against them. Our guy will probably not have a inherent lead against the incumbent. He will need to put positions forward, assert them and defend them and not make mistakes or set up easy point scoring like “you’re no Jack Kennedy”. He will need to energize the base and raise hundreds of millions to compete with the incumbent’s funds. That means, even if he has your support, and he will have my vote, he may not get much of my money if I don’t have faith in his ability to go all the way without major flubs. So far, I am not impressed and as some more of the sub 10%ers drop out a third or fourth stalking horse could climb into the lead and make a more serious impression.

Oy that comment of yours just irks me. It’s not personal. I just think we should be able to do a whole lot better than “just do”. Perry’s record is not historically conservative, and his governance - though I grant the right of States to experiment with governance - doesn’t appear very conservative.

I agree with the comment that being dealt 4 aces doesn’t make you a great poker player - Texas has a lot going for it that Perry didn’t really have much to do with, and what he chose to do, such as the Gardisil mandate, reeks of statism. I can accept his apology and I can believe he acted from his heart, but he did not act in any way from a conservative principle in that episode. How can I believe he will repeal Obamacare when he has his own version of a (near) mandate.

Granted, Taxas like California has a lot of problems that need to be overcome wrt illegal immigration and federal mandates, and he should be good at handling that, but I did not come away with a great impression that he knows what it is going to take to turn our economy around. He grabbed some talking points from Paul and Romney and Bachmann and that is why he seems like a winner but I didn’t hear any unqiue, clever, thoughtful, understanding, empathetic statements that showed me he knows what he is doing.

I haven’t sided with a candidate yet. I want to align with a winner (naturally) who is conservative. I don’t think Cain can win but I like him. I don’t think Bachmann can win but I like her. I lean Libertarian but I don’t think Paul can win and anyway I don’t really like him. I guess that is why your comment rubbed me the wrong way. I see too much truth in it. The best we are going to get is “just do”. When we need and deserve so much more than that.

Romney is snubbing the California GOP on an upcoming tour. Not sure what this is all about, but I heard it on the radio driving home an hour ago. Now, I am a Californian born and raised, and there is a whole lot to be desired from the Cal GOP - they are a total mess no two way about it - but you would think that Romney would have a lot to gain by sewing this constituency up early. They are probably a lot closer to him than Perry. And the Mormon population is fairly strong and active and largely Republican.
