New Studies Show Severe Racial Discrimination at University of Wisconsin
Center for Equal Opportunity ^ | 9/13/2011

Two studies released today by the Center for Equal Opportunity reveal severe discrimination based on race and ethnicity in undergraduate and law school admissions at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, with African Americans and Latinos given preference over whites and Asians.

The studies are based on data supplied by the schools themselves, some of which the university had refused to turn over until a lawsuit was filed by CEO and successfully taken all the way to the state supreme court. The studies were prepared by Dr. Althea Nagai, a research fellow at CEO, and can be viewed on the organization’s website, www.ceousa.org.

CEO president Roger Clegg will answer questions about the studies when they are formally released at a press conference today at 11:00 a.m. at the DoubleTree hotel in Madison—525 W. Johnson St.

The odds ratio favoring African Americans and Hispanics over whites was 576-to-1 and 504-to-1, respectively, using the SAT and class rank while controlling for other factors. Thus, the median composite SAT score for black admittees was 150 points lower than for whites and Asians, and the Latino median SAT score was 100 points lower. Using the ACT, the odds ratios climbed to 1330-to-1 and 1494-to-1, respectively, for African Americans and Hispanics over whites.

For law school admissions, the racial discrimination found was also severe, with the weight given to ethnicity much greater than given to, for example, Wisconsin residency. Thus, an out-of-state black applicant with grades and LSAT scores at the median for that group would have had a 7 out 10 chance of admission and an out-of-state Hispanic a 1 out of 3 chance—but an in-state Asian with those grades and scores had a 1 out of 6 chance and an in-state white only a 1 out of 10 chance.

CEO chairman Linda Chavez noted: “This is the most severe undergraduate admissions discrimination that CEO has ever found in the dozens of studies it has published over the last 15 years.” Chavez also noted: “The studies show that literally hundreds of students applying as undergrads or to the law school are rejected in favor of students with lower test scores and grades, and the reason is that they have the wrong skin color or their parents came from the wrong countries.”

Roger Clegg added: “The latest census figures have dramatically underscored that America is increasingly multiethnic and multiracial. In such country, is simply untenable for our institutions—including public universities—to engage in politically correct but divisive and unfair discrimination.”

The Center for Equal Opportunity recently joined an amicus brief challenging the use of racial preferences at the University of Texas, in a case for which review by the U.S. Supreme Court will be sought this week.

I am a bit confused though....On one hand you say Harvard can do what they want, as they are "private"....on the other you "guarantee"..that if Harvard "discriminated against blacks and Hispanics, that they would be cut off the Federal Gravy Train."

Can you shed some light?

You caught a minor error in my analysis. I said Harvard can do what they like but I was assuming that what they like is to discriminate against whites and Asians. That's what they are doing and it doesn't hurt them in the least with the Federal Money. But if they discriminated against blacks and Hispanics they would be cut off at the knees. So you are correct. The double standard applies. The Federal Government would never cut off money from Harvard (or any private school) if they discriminate against whites. That's simply the way it works now. Discrimination against whites and Asians is permitted, encouraged, and committed by the Federal Government.

Check out the racist college scholarships that Bill and Melinda Gates dole out. Only minorities, if you are white you are not eligible.

They are called Gate Foundation Millennium Scholarships

I earned a Masters degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison nearly 30 years ago, and this does not surprise me one bit.

Remember Donna Shalala? Clinton was going to have a cabinet that "looks like America". From Wikipedia:

She... served as Chancellor of the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Under her chancellorship and with her support, the University adopted a broad speech code subjecting students to disciplinary action for communications that were perceived as hate speech. That speech code was later found unconstitutional by a federal judge.[3] Also while chancellor, Shalala supported passage of a revised faculty speech code broadly restricting "harmful" speech in both "noninstructional" and "instructional" settings. The faculty speech code was abolished ten years later, after a number of professors were investigated for alleged or suspected violations.[4]

"Being white and male is bad these days."

Actually the 40 year war against White males has been expanded...it includes all Whites now.

If you're not hostile to Whites at every opportunity, you're not cool.

I'm cool because I have a gun in my pocket ever where I go.

Actually it would be interesting to look at hiring and promotion statistics for the federal government over the past two years.

Let’s face it folks...It’s MADISTAN, WI, the most communist, liberal state capitol city in the nation.

PLEASE do not judge all of Wisconsin by “MADISTAN”

Two studies released today by the Center for Equal Opportunity reveal severe discrimination based on race and ethnicity in undergraduate and law school admissions at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, with African Americans and Latinos given preference over whites and Asians.

Furthermore, what isn't mentioned, is that graduates of law schools in Wi (and there are only 2) are automatically admitted to the Wisconsin Bar -- no exam required.

This may mean that there are incompetent lawyer running around here. Certainy, one of them worked for us as an assembler. He'd actually been disbarred and was suing to get his license back. He'd lied on his application because we'd never have hired a lawyer to do electronic assembly.

One day he showed up at work with a magnetic sign on his aging car billing himself as an attorney. He managed to lose the case for one of our other employees who was involved in a child custody case, but billed him for big $$$. TG neither of them work for us anymore.

We just got a letter about the "attorney" who is trying to get a job in TX now. We have to be very careful about how we respond because he turned us into OSHA after he left us before.

Nah, Harvard has such huge private endowment that the federal dollars don’t mean much. What the federal dollars do is allow them to charge tuition on a rolling scale according to family income and background. A student whose parents make less than $60,000 and didn’t graduate from college, can go to Harvard for something like $13,000. That’s what the federal dollars pay for and of course the prestige of any grant work, like the Arsenic in the Water study (which completely phony).

So we can expect the Republican state legislature and governor to address this with legislation?

Being white and male is bad these days.

Almost every major societal institution and all the ruling authorities in America are anti-White. I'm just waiting for the majority of Whites to finally wake up to this fact and do something about it.
