Posted on 09/14/2011 6:36:54 PM PDT by DRey
Republican Party leaders, who only a few weeks ago viewed the GOP presidential nomination race as wide open, now consider it a two-man contest between Rick Perry and Mitt Romney, and they are choosing sides in what many think could be a long and potentially divisive campaign.

After Iowa and New Hampshire, Romney will be history.
You heard it here first.
They both may find themselves fighting in the dust
Of Sarah Palin’s campaign. We’ll see.
They already are, actually. She’s kicking up quite a bit as she laughs all the way to the bank.
Gotta love the MSM salivating over the prospect of a long battle that might generate ammunition that they will then use against the winner when it comes to the general election against Obama.
It’s positively creepy how much groundwork is being laid NOW for their surely Orwellian treatment of the 2012 election. Exhibit A is the demonization of the Tea Party - they are trying to drill into gullible people’s heads that the Tea Party somehow represents a crazy, extremist and dangerous idea. They aren’t going to let the fact that the Founding Fathers set up a limited federal government get in the way of the narrative.
All for show. Nearly identical candidates.
Attention Republican Party high muckity-mucks:
I will not vote for Romney under any circumstance. I am one of millions. Yes millions.
Run that sleazeball at your own risk.
That is all.
A duel between two least conservatives in the group.....great.
This is how the duel looks from where I'm sitting.
I call bs. Mitt is a Massachuttes yankee and all that entails. If he is good enough for Mass, he is bad, real bad.
Perry is a Texan. A great Texan. Bad mouthing is getting old
I hate it when they do that... “girding” is so gay.
On the issues, you’re probably right. I’d vote for either one of them. And so far, Romney has done better in the debates than Perry.
Gawd, we can only hope!
Yeah... what Nik said!
That iz sum funny stuff there.
I don’t like any of the two, but Perry is miles better the Myth Romney......I really can’t stand Myth.
For some reason I think Newt will work himself back into the conversation. He came across as highly Presidential and bright in the Reagan debate.
Finally, I think that if Jim DeMint decided to run, he’d not only be the instant frontrunner, but would unite conservatives of all stripes a lot more than any of the current candidates do. Anyone have any insight why he’s not running?
Pssst....*W*......U heard it here 1st!
If Palin decides not to run and we are left with just these two, our family will certainly vote for Perry. Unfortunately he doesn’t appear to come across as well as a public speaker as Romney but look where that got us with Obama. I know personally that Perry hates to make a speech to a huge crowd - another reason to vote for him. He is 180 from my position on illegal immigration but hates big government with a passion.
i’m not voting for romney.
voted rino for bush 2 and bush 3.
look at what it got us—debt and more debt.
Romney’s support is illusory. He lost already. Perry will be the nominee and POTUS unless someone else jumps in.
You are right. Gingrich has done nothing but dominate the debates. He is clearly the smartest and most articulate guy in the room. I think he should be Perry’s Cheney.
Did he do this, SERIOUSLY? LOL! Never heard this before. The mental image is hilarious! So Chevy Chase
Well, everybody knows what a wet dog smells like.
I don’t trust Perry. He’s too liberal on issues.
But I really, really, REALLY HATE Romney. He’s beyond a phoney.
IF you'd rather NOT be pinged FReepmail me.
IF you'd like to be added FReepmail me. Thanks.
LOL Someone posted a picture of a car with an Irish Setter on the roof. It was hilarious.
Both of them will be history. A snake-oil salesman and a Mormon, let the tykes fight in their sandbox, but in the end, wave bye bye.
Hee hee... butter please... thanks!
If you ever want to know what a communist dressed as a republican smells like... smell mitt.
Ruomr is you would sit on your hands rather than vote for the eventual GOP nominee. Any truth in that?
No rumor. I won’t vote for Mitt Perry.
Don’t bother telling me how it will only elect Obama because its not my fault “conservatives” are just a gullible and ignorant as the Obama voters.
Maybe it would be prudent to help the current front-runner defeat Romney then?
Just a thought.
Sorry mis-read your comment...idiot.
Whether it is Perry or Palin, somebody needs knock Romney out of the nomnination. Romney is not an option. As recently as yesterday, he use the automobile insurance mandate to defend his MA healthcare insurance mandate. Bachmann and Santorum would be wise to abandon their Romney suck up and focus their fire at him instead of the leading conservative in the race. Palin too, and she needs to get in the race or quit sniping at Perry from the sidelines. Does she want Romney to get the nomination? It actually wouldn’t surprise me because she does work for FNC who clearly supports Romney.
The simple, correct answer would have been to say that our military is voluntary, and his sons chose a different path.
Instead, Mitt said he thought his sons were serving their country by helping him in his quest for the Presidency.
However, if he's the Pubbie nominee, I'm certainly not going to sit on my hands.
Secretary of State seems ideal for him.
The dog was in a doggy crate, but yes he did strap the crate on the roof of the carand drove through a rain storm.
Pssst.... You are not alone.
