Hope something turns up on this one. So far, not believing this story. Could be wrong, yet everything is too convenient especially since this allegedly took place at age twelve where he and dad entered the woods to live. One can remember age twelve unless there is brain damage. Age seventeen (five years) and cannot remember clues regarding his life at age twelve? This is far from normal (imho).

The boy told authorities that after his mother had died in a car accident about five years ago, his father had taken him to live in the forest, Maass said. The two lived in a tent, and in earthen dugouts according to his story. "He said that he had lived for the last five years wandering around with his father," Maass said. "We don't know where."

Let's assume the story according to what the son says is true.. -- Why would a father take his 12 yr old son to the woods (forest) to live & wander around for 5 yrs? - Says a whole lot about his father.... or at least *the son's perception* of the father. Then again, they could both be certifiable.. - too many cases like this one, but never make headlines. Also, sometimes truth is stranger than fiction.

Not very likely, or did you miss this?

-- snip --

The German paper The Local said the boy buried his father in a shallow grave, which he covered with stones. His father died after falling, he told authorities, according to Heinrich Walling, an NBC News staffer based in Germany. The boy said his father had told him to travel north until he found help if something were to happen.

I am sure someone can tell if he has a British or an American accent

Agreed odds ... sometimes truth is stranger than fiction

Spent a little time attempting to contemplate a scenario, as described in the post, yet unable to determine due to the lack of information. Five years? Many clues would be apparent ... (imho) ... which would offer the truth. If happened, full agreement, in this day and age I would determine the father was brain dead.

Reading the rest of the story is always optional.
