I thought it might be interesting to visit Urban Dictionarys Web Site.
It was interesting. In fact, it was so interesting I decided to post a definition. It is similar to Wikipedia in that the visitors can add their own information. You submit your definition and they review it to see if it is acceptable. I couldnt find anything on the Web Site that listed acceptability.
I thought I would submit the expression Tea Party Patriot.
I submitted Tea Party Patriot
A Tea Party Patriot is a person who joined the Tea Party grass roots political movement using the Republican primary to elect Conservative candidates to achieve a constitutional government for America.
The grass roots Tea Party movement is not a political party but rather a group of Tea Party Patriots coming together to elect Representatives and Presidents who will keep their oath to uphold the Constitution.
They would verify my Email address and review my submission.
I received this notice today. Thanks for your definition of Tea Party Patriot! Editors reviewed your entry and have decided to not publish it.
I believe the correct grammar is Thanks for your definition of Tea Party Patriot! Editors reviewed your entry and have decided not to publish it. Something about split infinitives or such but why argue with a dictionary editor.
I went to their Web Site to find an acceptable definition. Ive posted my finding below.
1. Tea Party Patriots :
A small group of trashy, uneducated, hypocrites who wave signs in protest of things they do not understand. A lot of these people will believe anything you tell them about the government as long as it has to do with taxes and conspiracies. They are constantly concerned that people are coming to take their guns and cite their own made up facts to convince you of it. Fueled by racism, this group did not exist prior to the election of our first African American President. These people share many similar traits to your common Wal*Mart white trash yet have the uncanny drive to create sharpie signs with words on them they will never understand. Their cultural icons are Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, and Sarah Palin. While most of these toothless rejects don't possess the mental capacity to blink while walking without falling down, at some point they've been made to feel that their ignorant bigoted opinions are worth something more than the welfare checks they receive monthly. Which has led to many comical protests that resemble a trailer park circus. They are not to be taken seriously considering there are currently no professional wrestlers currently considering a Presidential bid. If you do come in physical contact with a Tea Party Patriot be sure to wash the affected area immediately. Lice and stench are the two most common symptoms people report after coming in contact with these brainless, white trash, morons.
I also found these related words.
Teabagging
tea bag
teabagger
teabag
Tea Party
Tea Party was capitalized and closes to Tea Party Patriot.
Here is the Urban Dictionary editors acceptable definition for Tea Party :
1. Tea Party
(n.) 1. A disillusioned group of U.S. citizens that blindly oppose whatever legislative and/or government policy they perceive as being leftist, but said legislation/policy is actually in their own best interest.
2. Unknowing puppets of capitalist corporations and their congressional silent partners used to derail any progressive movement in the US government and/or society.
I decided to pursue other related definitions acceptable to Urban Dictionary and Ill post a few.
1. Tea Party Movement:
A political action movement started by right-wing nutcases like Sarah Palin filled with greed and a refusal to share, treat others the way one would want to be treated, or follow any of that stuff people are supposed to learn in kindergarten.
Going further, I found Tea Party Patriots Official American Grassroots Movement.
This was closer to my notion of the Tea Party Movement.
1. Tea Party Patriots Official American Grassroots Movement
The Tea Party Patriots story began in 2008, when some people began to realize the government was growing and growing. Then in 2009 the government grew so big so fast that millions of people noticed. Families, friends and neighbors began to pull together to stand up for our freedoms. These grassroots rallies were called Tea Parties, inspired by the Boston Tea Party of the Countrys Founding Fathers. On February 27th, 2009, the first nationwide Tea Party was held. At that time the three core principals; Fiscal Responsibility, Constitutionally Limited Government and Free Markets were formed.
Todays Tea Party Patriots are just like the American colonists. The colonists fought King George III because they wanted to govern themselves. That is all the Tea Party Patriots want! There are now tens of millions of Tea Party Patriots working to ensure America remains a shining beacon of freedom for the whole world! Become a Tea Party Patriot today and help us!
Juxtaposing all this causes me to wonder just what is the purpose or goal of Urban Dictionary.
Fo Shizzle!
Totally tubular!
The is actually some useful definitions there, but anything goes. Dirty Sanchez is one of the tamer ones of that Genre.
Urban Dictionary.
Seriously?
You ARE kidding, right?
Okay...but don’t let ‘em get your “goat”.
Look up “Obama”
It’s an “urban” dictionary, a dictionary of slang. As far as that goes, it can be useful. Definitions can be voted up or down by users.
Sorry man, you didn’t grok the intent of Urban Dictionary at all. The mistake is yours, and yours alone. It’s not a repository of real information, nor was it ever meant to be.
I stumbled on to Urban Dictionary by accident when I Googled the phrase, “boy howdy”. Some especially rowdy member of our church’s Amen Corner shouted it out a few times, and I just HAD to know what the heck it meant. The Urban Dictionary definition was the first hit.
And so what? You’re going to leave us to look up the urban dictionary meaning ourselves?
Must be baaaa-aaa-aaadd.
Snoop! Ice-T! Flavo-flav!
Yo dawg!
We heard you like writing wordz about Black entertainment iconz and sh!t...so we put Black entertainment iconz and sh!t in your wordz so you could write about Black entertainment ionz and sh!t with wordz.
Meme fail. I will report self to #attackwatch.
By the way, the Urban Dictionary is brutal on Obama as well.
“And so what? Youre going to leave us to look up the urban dictionary meaning ourselves? Must be baaaa-aaa-aaadd.”
Although it CAN be bad in some situations, generally, it’s just a strong affirmation like, “Yes, sir!” Or “You said it!” Something like that.
Look up Freeper. Maybe we should FReep the poll on it a bit.
Obama Administration 1218 up, 103 down Beginning on January 20, 2009, the Obama Administration set out to Annihilate America, to increase the devastation of the U.S. economics, to deface all American values, to demoralize, to destroy the American Constitution as well as any values left of America!
After 8 years of what we thought was arrogance, corruption, deregulation, senseless wars, pro-rich tax laws, and depreciation of the economies in just the U.S, we became very aware that oBAMa was the true meaning of arrogance, corruption, deregulation, senseless wars, pro-Government tax laws, and total depreciation of the economies in the Whole World.
Now we all need a major change to restore hope!
America finally woke up and found oBAMa IS the FALSE Hope!!! There is Hope: www.deportobama.org
oBAMA took swift action to further the damage four fold and sent us as well as the Whole World like sheep to the slaughter. While it may have only take many years to fully recover from the Bush Depression, oOBAMa increased the damage that it may even take Centuries to recover from a total economic collapse caused by oBAMa and has us on the loooong road to recovery.
HELL YES.
"Keep yo pimp hand strong!"
Did you look up “News/Activism” in this dictionary?
“Its not a repository of real information, nor was it ever meant to be.”
it’s a repository of...well, i can’t say it on FR
There was a print edition of the Urban Dictionary going back to the early 1990’s. I used it for a creative writing class at University. I had no idea, at the time, that it had any kind of following and being creative I liked the idea of using slang in my writing. To my surprise several others in the class (mostly womyn) had the dictionary and were not at all happy at my use of the terms...
I think it was less politically biased and a lot more fun back then :-)
