“There are different types of intelligence. (And education)”

This is true...liberals are far and away, educated beyond their intelligence.

I remember the issue about PT 109 not being under power at the time it was rammed - a real no no that has to be overlooked to make him a hero, and I hold his post collision actions in high regard.

This isn’t too surprising. Joseph Kennedy and FDR didn’t like each other either.

I personally did not find Aristotle Onassis very attractive - but he showed up in her life when she needed him.

Or perhaps you were a close friend of Jackie and know more than I.

Her tragic personal life belonged to her - not history.

Joe Kennedy disliked anyone that was a more successful theif than he was - hence his resentment of FDR.

I don't think Jackie thought much more of Joe Kennedy than she did FDR. Her feelings about FDR probably came from her step father who was a big Republican supporter/contributor and became a real mentor to her. In fact, when her real father was too dead drunk to do it, her step father was who escorted her down the aisle when she married Kennedy.

Caroline traded the tapes in exchange for the studio NOT to air the documentary about the family. The one starring Katie Holmes.

Jackie made the tapes with a stipulation the be held for 50 years or so after her death. Caroline overturned her wishes.

“I thought Caroline’s comments were incomprehensible. Weirdly contradicting what her mother so obviously meant.”

Exactly. It’s so fun when liberals’ perceptions are mugged by a thing known as reality.

“Jackie was a pretty savvy reader of people. I want to hear more. Plus, I really dig that New York accent of hers. Libs must be cringing.”

Michael Savage says the same thing when he aired tapes of her on his radio show. She was his favorite 1st Lady. Of course, that was the time period he describes as “When America was great, the chrome was thick and the women were straight.”

So she thought LBJ had a hand in JFK's death, huh? I always suspected that he at least knew. On the other hand, it may have just been a "lone wolf" act as seems to be the consensus. He just didn't seem so shocked when it happened from the photographs, didn't show even a trace of sadness, either.

And as far as ultra-liberal women being afraid of sex (and I'm sure she meant with men), you just have to hand it to her for such an astute observation.

Now as far as her insight about FDR being an insecure showoff, that explains a lot given his throwing America into the maw of socialism.

Then she further confirmed MLK was a perv, particularly given that he was a reverend. Of course Sharpton is a "reverand" too but he's in a class by himself and I don't mean that as a compliment.

And there may be a lot of Kennedy bashers here but I wonder about the direction the country would have taken had Kennedy lived. I think it would have been more positive given that there probably would not have been any Great Society.

I consider old 'saint' Teddy's ways and means to symbolize, what would have been. And he loved to forced US into his kind of bondage. That is why I always refer to the resident at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue as BamBamKennedy... Chrissy Matthews told US that BamBamKennedy was the last of the Kennedy bros.

Good point. The Great Society might not have happened. Also, Vietnam may have been handled better. Goldwater might’ve won the presidency in 1964. JFK wouldn’t have the martyr status he has now and perhaps folks would’ve evaluated his presidency and life more objectively.

The First Family starred stand-up comedian and impersonator Vaughn Meader as Kennedy and Naomi Brossart as the First Lady. Meader’s skill at impersonating Kennedy was honed on the stand-up circuit—with his New England accent naturally close to Kennedy’s familiar (and often parodied) Harvard accent, he needed to adjust his voice only slightly to sound almost exactly like the President. Brossart was a theatre actress and model making her recording début.[2]

I liked this family much more.

Preach it! FDR and his types despised Conservatives like General Patton, a great and noble commander who liberated Czechoslovakia (as it was then known). I don’t blame Patton for being at odds with people like FDR, since it was the FDR types who insisted on giving the brave people of Czechoslovakia over to the damn communists. For that reason alone, FDR and his lackeys should be given a damn Scarlett letter in the history books. Don’t get me started on Stalin’s betrayal of the Poles in Warsaw during their uprising against the Nazis, only to see him cozy up with FDR later on.

Combat zones are combat zones. People make mistakes in dangerous environments, but it is how they take measures to preserve life and property thereafter that matters most. Agree that Kennedy’s actions to keep his men alive despite any potential negligence is what supersedes anything else in the PT 109 situation.

I meant ‘an innocent’ in the back stabbing ways of Washington - I did not mean to infer ‘sexual innocence’, but I also have never heard or read about infidelity on Jackie Kennedy’s part.

Are you thinking perhaps of Princess Diana?

I didn't know there was a stillborn child, too. I agree with you about being spared herr son's death and your other comments; she went through a lot. A bullet could have hit her that day, and she seemed impervious to her own safety.

Her knowledge of history of the furnishings and rooms of the White House (the redecorating was more returning it to what it had been under former presidents) was really impressive. She rattled off names, facts, and dates without missing a beat. I think she had a passion for history and books.

I came to like and admire her and the news and photos of the children, especially Caroline and her pony, Macaroni.

He could have been rendered practically impotent by his back, health and med problems, haven't read anything to that effect and pretty personal but it happens. So I don't know if all the tales with the exception of the Swedish woman of womanizing were true or not, even Marilyn. I can't remember what was proven and don't like to repeat the gossip and speculations, came to believe he did have affairs.

Jackie was a good mother, and whatever JFK was or wasn't, he was an extremely affectionate and playful father. The bathtub toys may have been for John John. From what I've read about what she divulged, I don't really think any the less of her for it.

"I believe Jackie’s father was an anti-FDR Republican, but i stand corrected???"

I heard her parents were Republican, don't know if that's true though.

....Kennedy apparently was very much a woman of her time and didn’t care for relentlessly driven careerists who put work ahead of family. She thought that only “violently liberal women in politics” would vote for JFK’s opponent in the 1960 Democratic primaries, Adlai Stevenson, because they were “scared of sex.”

...she thought that Vice President Lyndon Johnson...had a role in the killing of her husband.

According to the book Blood, Money and Power, by Barr McClellan, Mrs. Kennedy was correct.

McClellan, from his work as an attorney with an Austin law firm headed by LBJ's lawyer and close confidant, had access to folks who knew LBJ intimately, as well as to revealing documents concerning LBJ's sordid history. He makes a compelling case connecting Johnson to the JFK assassination.

When we lived in NYC in the early 90s, my wife took our kids to the same pediatrician as Caroline Kennedy. She shared the waiting room with her on occasion, and said that she was haughty and aloof, and Caroline’s au pair dealt with her kids.

I’ve said a dozen times here and laid out the reasons but I still don’t believe for a minute LBJ had anything to do with it. He and Lady Bird were best friends with Gov. Connolly and Nellie. There is no way Lady Bird would have allowed him harming one hair on Nellie’s head and that goes for Connolly, too. They bought weekend homes next to each other in Llano county, TX and had parties for many, many year at each other’s house. If you were the Connolly’s, would you let your kids and grandkids sit down at the same table with someone who nearly killed you? I don’t think so.

We were old family friends with his pilot and they wouldn’t have lived on the ranch in Stonewall, TX or continued to work for him after he left office if they thought for one second he’d done that.

She may have been correct on several fronts but she was still a flake.

According to Time and Life the Bouviers were Republican, and Jacqueline's stepfather's family, the Auchinclosses certainly were.

Jackie's views of FDR reflect this, though come to think of it, Old Joe Kennedy and Gore Vidal's grandfather (Jackie's relative by marriage and divorce) were both Democrats and both came to hate FDR.

But yes, Jackie wasn't the smartest tool in the shed.

Fun fact: John Kerry dated Jackie's half-sister when he was in high school. Even then, he was a gigolo.

At the time, there was some discussion in Conservative circles as to whether or not Lyndon was involved in some way, with the Kennedy assassination. Indeed, a former CIA operative, who at the time was running a mail order book service, devoted the front of an issue of his monthly catalog, to the subject "Stifle The Legend," calling upon LBJ to deal with a rumor already gathering momentum, that "Lyndon did it!"

Since Kennedy, himself, O.K.'d political assassinations, there is certainly a distinct possibility that there was some involvement. But, of course, we may never know for sure. But it was a very amoral time in the higher level of "Liberal" American politics. (I am not going to suggest that the present times are any more moral.)

JFK was scheduled to ride in a vehicle with Sen. Ralph Yarborough.

Kennedy insisted that he ride with Connally instead; that is was proper for the two chief executives ride with each other. So Yarborough switched places with Connally and rode with LBJ instead. It was a last-minute switch made by JFK; it was out of LBJ's hands.
