Look to Henry Ford, not Barack Obama, to End Unemployment
American Thinker ^ | 9/17/11 | William A. Levinson

Money for President Obama's new jobs bill will have to come from somewhere else, whether in the form of higher taxes or higher debt. Productive jobs pay taxes, but taxes do not create productive jobs. As for taking on more debt, the private sector would already be borrowing money at today's very low interest rates to create jobs that fill a genuine economic need. Social Security is already struggling to remain solvent, so a payroll tax cut that is not balanced by increased taxes elsewhere is simply not realistic. The summer jobs for disadvantaged youth would create themselves if there were a demand for whatever goods or services they might produce. Green and renewable energy jobs would create themselves if they could meet a genuine need instead of a self-serving ideology. Most people understand this, so it comes as no surprise that the Dow Jones Industrial Average reacted to Mr. Obama's speech with a nosedive of more than 300 points the next day.

As shown by Mr. Obama's long trail of failures in so-called green jobs (e.g., Solyndra), the government is far less qualified than the free market to distribute resources efficiently and effectively. To this may be added his ongoing calls for taxes or cap-and-trade mandates on fossil fuels, both of which would drive up the cost of energy to make American goods even less competitive in the world marketplace. This president is clearly not qualified either by education (political science, law) or experience (politics) to lead the United States back to affluence and prosperity. We should look instead to the person who not only helped make the United States the wealthiest and most powerful nation on earth, but also left us a legacy of books that describe how he did it.

Mr. Obama ,

Your people read this site , and through them I am addressing you today. I have a large parcel of land and many buildings that were recently “decomissioned” , sold as surplus , they are in great shape and I want to use them , “repurpose” them in your “greenspeak” as a community health center and a grocery , I will employ as many as 12 people and as the buildings are paid for and remodeling would be a minimal cost I can create those 12 jobs for $500,000 (including a $150,000 set aside for salaries during startup).. This is in your home state of Illinois and will draw a lot of business from neighboring Iowa (I’m right on the Mississippi at a bridge crossing) ... If you’re looking for a story you can point to during the next year I can be it as I can be up and running in 6 months.

contact me via FreepMail.

Siince Obama is supposed to be the smartest man to ever be POTUS why isn’t he smart enough to see that what he’s been trying hasn’t/isn’t/won’t work. Ever?

A rat in a maze could figure this out - apparently a rat in DC cannot.

In a simpler and more plainspoken world Henry Ford would be recognized as the hero of Western Civilization. He adapted the assembly line and increased wages to enable the worker to buy the product of his own labor--the Model T--the first time in the history of the world that this economic alchemy had been accomplished.

In the process he single-handedly discredited the entire Marxist critique and demonstrated empirically that capitalism is more worker friendly than any dictator-based economic model could hope to be.

When you look at Ford's history you discover even more than the Model T. He built communities for his workers. houses, deparment stores, hospitals and schools followed. He nurtured the middle class.

It is the politicians who were/are jealous of the rich man's contributions to society. They lacking the business acumen. They have since earliest times have invented powers that our founding fathers decried and tried to diminish in our Republic.

Happy Constitution Day and special thanks to those Rich Men including Wendy's Dad, Col Sanders, Old MacDonald, et al.
