In my time in Nova Scotia, I didn’t run into many brothas.
Roger That!
How much more of this Euro-descendant insensitivity can people of color tolerate? I would have thought they would be fed up by now and head back to Liberia, Ghana, and Burkina Fasso.
I am as anti-Afirmative Action as anyone, but it would seem that hiring a white woman from Ontario makes aas much sense, as hiring a Arab as a director or a Jewish community center.
On the other hand, why is the government creating this position in the first place. If the history was all that important to the locals, they can do it without government help.
They needed at least one competent person?
A least if they hire a non-black director they might have half a chance of not having their funds frittered away on high priced cars, booze, whores, and vacations in the Grand Caymens

I didn’t say it...you did...you’re...What’s that word?? ;-)
That Gibraltar sized chip will not disappear from their shoulder until there is no political and social advantage in having it on their shoulder.
Don't hold your breath.
Population of Nova Scotia 935,000 persons.
19,000 described as Black.
28,000 Native Indian (a political no no in Canada today) ie; First Nations.
4,500 Metis (mixed French and Indian).
The majority make up of Nova Scotia claims Scottish, English, Irish and French.
I knew, as a complete newcomer that there was no overt racism. I did notice rarely blacks were employed at the Aircraft plant near Dartmouth. The long shoremen and casual "scratch gangs" where I got my baptism of working in Canada seemed to lack blacks.
Enjoyed watching them at the Halifax Forum on fight nights. Their favourites were black of course, that is where there was some open and fair employment. Once the bell rang, it was one on one. They (present day blacks) have got to get that chip off their shoulders, for everyone's sake, including their own.
