Homeowner's wife and son fled the house in terror. Second suspected intruder being hunted by police.
A father has been arrested on suspicion of murder after allegedly stabbing to death an intruder during an attempted burglary at his home last night.
Police were called to Midland Road in Bramhall, Stockport, at around 7.50 pm last night after reports that two men had forced their way into a house. Officers responding to the call discovered a man, thought to be in his 30s, with serious knife injuries.

Police believe that the two men had entered the property and threatened him.
Mr Cooke was home alone at the time but his wife, Karen, and their son returned during the altercation and were able to escape unhurt.

Neighbours spoke of their shock about the incident...'If you have children though, you do anything to protect your home.'
Another neighbour, who did not wish to be named, said: 'Whoever tried to break into the house deserved all they got.'

Here’s a bet for anyone willing to take it. No charges will be pressed against this man. The police are carrying out their enquiries, will see that he acted in self-defence and will be sent along his way.

I hope the anonymous neighbor isn’t arrested for a thought crime and gets sent to a re-education camp.
