All I know about Hippos are that they are one of the deadliest critters on the earth.

Nasty slashing tusks

I have some 147 grain 9mm Black Talon
You could never use a round like that in a Makarov, it would blow the slide off the frame.

But, the Makarov is a lot more compact and is pretty damn respectable.

The KGB used it for 60 years

The XTP is a proven bullet. Deer, elk, bear or bad guy...

I bought a conversion barrel for my G27 and forgot to take it to the range months ago :o( it’s 9X19. I’m going to decide if it’s better than .40 cal and wondering what the optimum size bullet would be for it.

Just because it’s a 9, it doesn’t make it not deadly. It is.

It is a very good bullet, and I am pretty sure several other American company’s make 9x18 bullets

Russia and makes lots of JHP but I prefer XTP if my life depends on it.

Russias QC seems a tad lax on ammo, but then that is because they build their guns to eat anything.

The CZ is Czech, they really refined the makarov
My CZ eats all the Russkie stuff with ease

Not to be trifled with.

I really like the 40 SW
But it tends to make for a much larger gun, or a ****load of recoil.

It is powerful and it delivers lots of kinetic energy.

I have two 40’s and I never carry them, but I do love to shoot them.

If it was designed for 40SW, you can bump up the weight and powder charge using 9mm.

I would stick with 40 in it because of over penetration with a dam hot 9mm round

How do you find the sub compact 40?

I find that 40SW is peppy, impressive and manageable in a full size pistol like the CZ75.

I imagine it is a wrist snapper in a sub compact.

Tony Dungy is looking very frail on the Falcons/Eagles Halftime show.

I hope his heath is ok. He is a standup guy.
