WASHINGTON (AP) -- Drawing a bright line with congressional Republicans, President Barack Obama is proposing $1.5 trillion in new tax revenue as part of his long-term deficit reduction plan, according to senior administration officials.
The president on Monday will announce a proposal that includes repeal of Bush-era tax cuts for the wealthiest taxpayers, nearly $250 billion in reductions in Medicare spending, $330 billion in cuts in other mandatory benefit programs, and savings of $1 trillion from the withdrawal of troops from Iraq and Afghanistan, the officials said.
The plan includes no changes in Social Security and does not include an increase in the Medicare eligibility age, which the president had considered this summer.

Baffle them with BS
His needle is stuck on stupid...on stupid...on stupid...on stupid...
Obama, rebuked by latest elections, is going ‘all in’
on tax and spend.
Our government is so screwed up that we have to force one segment of our citizens to pay for it. I don’t think that the Founding Fathers meant for it to go this way. America has become a disgrace. “For the first time in my adult life..”, I’m ashamed of my country.
"But right now," he said, "we've got to get Congress to pass this jobs bill."
To that end, Obama on Thursday will be at a bridge linking Ohio and Kentucky -- home states to Boehner and Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell. He will use the bridge as a prop to call for increased spending on infrastructure.
Good luck with that Jackass
Sadly, I am ashamed as well.
Bless us all.
Just when I think he can’t get any more stupid, he goes and proves me wrong... again. He’s like a hemmoroid or something.
The man is a fool, or he is counting on fools.
A bridge, how appropriate. This 'revenue' plan is his Waterloo.
Here is a clue.
Even Europe is saying WTF?
Uh, his 2% base is all he has left. .Doubling down on stupid is the Wrong BET!
Ok...FReepers that think Boehner is a stand up Repubic, we shall see. Who wants to bet that before it’s all over and done with Boehner will have agreed to close tax loopholes (you know the kind: Mortgage interest deduction, charitable contributions etc.) and come back with some bullcrap tax reduction that does absolutely nothing for us. And he will strut like he made the deal of the century...while the country continues to go down in flames.
I am En Chanted! LoL
When Obama steals $500,000,000,000 from Medicare for ObamaCare and now proposes taking another $250,000,000,000?
I have never been a fan of the weeper of the house.
He has however been measured and succinct in recent responses to Obamas BS.
We shall see.
ALREADY IN LAW. The Bush-Obama rates all expire at the end of 2012.
savings of $1 trillion from the withdrawal of troops from Iraq and Afghanistan
ALREADY IN LAW.
