NEW YORK - Heidi Jones, former New York tv meteorologist, admitted Wednesday she'd made up claims of being repeatedly attacked by a stranger on the city streets, allegations that sparked an extensive investigation before police said she told them she'd invented the story to get attention.
Jones, 38, pleaded guilty Wednesday to two misdemeanor counts of falsely reporting an incident. The judge says she will be sentenced to three years' probation and 350 hours of community service -- the same amount of time prosecutors say police spent looking into her false claims, reports CBS station WCBS.
It took over nine months for the plea deal to be worked out.

There seems to be this stupid FR game of declaring people in the news as guilty or not depending on whether they’re lookers. It’s like asking Laz if he would hit it.

I don't think they are the same. The opportunity cost of police's time spent on her lie might be solving real criminal case or preventing real rapes from happening. Meanwhile, opportunity cost of this person's time in community service is someone might get wet from not bringing an umbrella. The judge needs to take Econ 101.
But that's never the case, and we're supposed to be good sports about getting falsely accused, having lives ruined and getting a bill from her lawyer.
She'll get time served (none) and a slap on the wrist.
And people wonder why I avoid crowds or any gathering of humans.

And of course, during heated divorce and custody hearings, women NEVER lie when they dust off that ol’ chestnut saying that dad abuses the children. . .KoFF KoFF. . .
False rape accusations, false domestic abuse accusations, false child abuse accusations, false paternity accusations, do we see a pattern here? Lie to the court and get what you want (money, custody, etc.)
Feminists use the idea that rape is possible to destroy mens lives just to scrape their way to the top. And guess what most of the lib donators are?
It’s a very sad 38 if she thinks she has to cry rape to get attention,a strong indicator that her looks aren’t the problem.
It appears that the man remained mythical as the police hunted in vain. She did not have a patsy in mind (thank God for small favors, at least).
She should have been fined an amount at least equal to the value of the extra overtime that detectives and street officers spent investigating her bogus claims!

I wonder if the judge considered sending her to a mental hospital for examination. Criminal yes, but crazy too.
And suffer trivial consequences if that lie is revealed. False rape accusation by a female is not a serious crime in America. It is just taken as a sign that the poor dear needs therapy.
