Republicans dodge the real lesson of Solyndra
The Washington Examiner ^ | Sept. 19, 2011 | Timothy P. Carney

Posted on 09/19/2011 4:29:09 AM PDT by EternalVigilance

In Republican-leaning circles in Washington, the question of the moment has been "Does this Solyndra thing have legs?" -- in other words, will the news media keep running stories on the subsidized, politically connected solar power company that just went bankrupt?

When Republicans ask this question, they mean, "Will this significantly detract from President Obama's re-election chances?"

The brief answer is: Probably not, because too many Republicans are asking the wrong questions and drawing the wrong conclusions.

I’ve always been fascinated by the story of that speech. Further research shows it to be apocryphal, but it is still a good one nonetheless.

This whole article is an example of the infantile "I know you are but what am I" defense.

Rather then discuss the very real wrong doing of the 0 regime in ignoring their own analysis waring that this business model was doomed from the start, the 0bot propagandists here try's to create a fraudulent moral equivalence between the GOP past support for loan guarantees and the corrupt politically actions of the 0 regime in this particular case.

It a fraudulent attempt to divert attention from the very real wrong doing of the 0bots by manufacturing a fraudulent moral equivalence claim.

Well, Mr. Crockett always did like a good tall tale. :-)

But the Constitution still says what it says.

Conservatives can walk and chew gum. They can see clearly what Obama is, and fight him, without putting on blinders about the Republicans.

By the way, I’ve always been under the impression that Carney, and Barone, and the rest of them at the Washington Examiner are all Republicans.

I think the problem here is you have utterly NO clue what a Loan Gaurenttee is

A loan guarantee, in finance, is a promise by one party (the guarantor) to assume the debt obligation of a borrower if that borrower defaults.

That is NOT a "corporate subsidy" as the ignorant author here claims.

If you cannot understand the difference between loan guarantees to solid proven business's which your business analysis say is a prudent move and a loan guarantee to a business your own analysis say IS GOING TO FAIL, you are either too bigoted, or too ignorant, to be commenting on this issue.

Wow, is that a hanging curve-ball! All Carney has to do is give you a list of Republicans that voted for TARP.

Touché!

I’m not responsible for the writer’s understanding of anything. I simply posted it here for discussion.

But I do have a question, based on your post:

Can you point me to the Article or Section of the Constitution that empowers Congress to co-sign notes for private businesses, or to pay the debts of private businesses if they can’t pay? Because I just can’t lay my finger on it.

Isn’t that something.

Almost like we need a candidate who will run against crony capitalism.
