WHY was Palin taking her family on a vacation in a brightly painted bus if she’s not running for president? Why didn’t they do it in an unmarked bus? Was it that she was just trying to draw attention to herself?

-"So then tell us how Social Security is NOT a Ponzi scheme."

A Ponzi Scheme denotes 'criminal' intent to defraud and steal funds for personal gain. It does not impress with thoughtful consideration for meaningful reform to the program, it demonstrates and reinforces a "shoot from the mouth" personality.

So tell me. If a corporation had done to their pension funds what the US government did with the Social Security Trust Fund - spent every last red cent of it - would that have landed them in the docket for fraud?

Yes.

And have politicians used the abuse of the Social Security Trust Fund for personal political gain by masking the true size of our deficits?

Yes.

So you just undid your own point, if you are willing to look past the veneer of legalities that our politicians have woven over Social Security.

The problem is not that Perry isn't telling the truth. The problem is he is too close to the truth for the comfort of the DC establishment.

Come on people, this is America. Who cares if he flies in the fricken jet? Can he beat Obama and “make the federal government as inconsequential in our lives as possible”?, as he said in the debate.

-"Was it that she was just trying to draw attention to herself?"

YES! We all know that she's just a 'celebrity-crazed publicity-hound', who's trying to suck up millions of dollars on her fame and fortune made possible by her fawning paparazzi media scavengers.

I don't think ANYONE cares that he's flying around in a fricken jet (even Algore could care less, he does too). He could fly around the block for all I care. It's WHO IS PAYING FOR IT!?

You have yet to establish that the corporate jet makes him “owned”

Well, I’ll be more concerned if he goes in there and panders to the ethanol lobby. That will really concern me.

Are you suggesting that Perry does not have a history of payola?

If Perry campaign pays for this, I have no problem with it. *******************

He must...

Honest Leadership and Open Government Act of 2007

*Prohibited use of private aircraft

Requires that candidates, other than those running for a seat in the House, pay the fair market value of airfare (charter rates) when using non-commercial jets to travel. (This affects senate, presidential and vice-presidential candidates)

https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Honest_Leadership_and_Open_Government_Act

Also...Finance or lease corporate jets or turboprops

No, I have actually suggested he does have an issue with that and as such he might not win the nomination. What has NOT been established is payola related to this article and this thread, which is about the campaign jet.

All I’ve seen on the corporate jet so far is class envy that sounds like it could have been written expressly for Obama’s teleprompter.

THe Iowa Republican... it’s not a news site. It’s the opinions of a former Iowa party exec that set up a consulting firm and pretends to report news on his web site, helped by a bunch of sycophants who wanna be like the guy pretending to report news.

Take nothing from TIR at face value, and keep a case of Morton’s salt handy.

"If a corporation had done to their pension funds what the US government did with the Social Security Trust Fund - spent every last red cent of it - would that have landed them in the docket for fraud?"

Currently, no! The federal government is selling securities (borrowing) to cover any revenue shortfall in the SSTF. But, if reform is not done, then the imbalance will tip to insolvency down the road.

Calling it a Ponzi scheme is demagogic and stupid. Palin had to cover his explanation in a better way. He's like a bull in china shop, huffin and puffin along with no concrete solutions.

"...Perry’s use of corporate jets, a perk most other candidates lack,"

If Perry campaign pays for this, I have no problem with it. .... The Bronze Titan

It was paid for.

Federal election laws allow presidential candidates to fly aboard supporters' or corporations' planes so long as the candidates reimburse them. But using donors' jets became far less attractive after a 2007 law required that the donors be reimbursed the equivalent of charter rates, rather than lower rates often pegged to first-class fares, as before. ...... Mark Miner, a spokesman for Mr. Perry, declined to say how Mr. Pardo's plane came to be used by Mr. Perry but said "it was a plane we chose to use" and the owner was "paid in full in accordance with federal election laws."

Winoneforthegipper is simply engaging in Obama-style class warfare agitprop.

If you want to get to a smaller city without a major hub airport, sometimes it takes you longer to travel the last 300 miles than the first 2,000. In travel costs and lost time (with staffers on the payroll), a leased, small private plane is that fastest and CHEAPEST way to get 10 staffers and a candidate from City A to Cities B, C and D.

Trust me on that. I know. On Saturday, to get from our house to his college in a smaller city in California, it took my son 2 hours to drive from our smaller city to a major airport, one and a half hours of dead time for checking baggage and security, two hours to fly from our nearest major airport to another major airport in California, then four hours of waiting for a connecting flight for the last 300 miles that required less than one hour of flying time.

As noted in my last post, even Sarah Palin takes leased, private jets between the major stops in her "Bus Tour".

The only difference between winoneforthegipper's class warfare agitprop and Obama's class warfare agitprop is ..... ummm ..... ummmm .... come to think of it .... there is no difference.

One more time....

You are not material made for the conservative party. You are more suited for the DU or perhaps the labor union.

You have very little patience for those that disagree with you and even less intelligence required to make a conservative point.

YOu are are not a tea party member nor should you be. I understand your identity problems but really I wish you luck in your search and suggest you start at the DNC for more progressive information to aid you and your soul.
