What the heck is a loophole anyway? A deduction?

The ones I have a problem with are deductions that are not available to the general public. They are a deduction so cryptically worded that it can only apply to one or possibly a few companies or individuals. They are granted much like the Obamacare waivers. Soros got a big one, creating new category of funds that are not subject to disclosure. Google got one that allows them to pay the 12% Irish on their income instead of the much higher US rate. If you have friends and a handy checkbook you can get a special deduction written for you. Just like you can get special exemptions from environmental law, protection from the Labor Relations Board or waivers from Obamacare.

Equal protection under the law. We all pay the same rate, no special deals that are not available to everyone.

Forced charity (taxation for social spending) robs the giver of the blessing of giving and the recipient of the humility and thankfulness of receiving. Government redistribution is not what God intended when he asked us to take care of the poor.

Note to self: Remember also that there were rumors that Obama threatened Hillary out of the race by threatening to release damaging information about Bill’s continued infidelities.

Also - it’s the Chicago way - and we already know what a POS Obama can be.

Maybe Boehner has something he’s willing to drop on Obama about continued drug usage.

Because the Fed bailed out Europe, not Congress. Congress has little insight or control over the Fed. It was designed that way.

Many of our conservatives are uneducated about the legislative process (or act that way), many are simply purist and argumentative, and many are fickle.

It's easier to be a "right fighter" than to look at the situation and see what you can get today and still be able to come back another day for more. I think the Pubs have won great victories already. The obama juggernaut has been stopped. Tax increases are going nowhere and the Rats are losing the debate because the Pubs are countering with "lower the rates and remove loopholes". The Pubs have put forward and passed substantive bills addressing fiscal reforms and all the Rats can do is not allow them to be voted on.

Probably the best thing the Pubs have done is maneuvered obama into his class warfare rhetoric to try and get his base fired up. Mondale was trounced when he ran on raising taxes.

That’s why we’re busy knocking off conservative presidential candidates and giving Romney a free ride.

Everything seems to be moving in that direction, but I think Perry has a couple things coming that will help him. Also, Perry seems to be weathering the storm and has not "buckled" on his positions. If he can get through the next couple months okay I think the right will wise up and see he's our best hope.

Even Boner will not go along with tax increases unless he wants to lose his speaker position. Everyone knows that 0bama is just playing to his base and he is not doing anything substantive.

Why would he start voting for tax increases now? For all of my beefs with the Speaker, I don’t see him doing that.

What conservatives need to keep in mind is what control of the house means. It means that any decision you make can probably be over-ridden by a president/senate with control of the media.

I have to disagree with you. All bills that have a spending component have to START in the House. Since the republicans control the house, the republicans control the purse strings. There is no better power than to control the purse strings.

Eliminate loopholes = tax increase.

Not necessarily. They said combine lower tax rates AND eliminate loopholes.

That's why I say: Throw the IRS Code out the window and start over with a 17% flat tax.

BTTT!

When my wife was receiving unemployment checks, we had to claim that as "income" and pay taxes on it! Do welfare queens have to claim their checks as "income?" While in the Marine Corps, I had to claim my non-cash benefits: housing allowance, etc... to see if I qualified for Earned Income Credit! Do all these welfare queens have to claim their non-cash benefits: Section 8 housing allowance, reduced lunch savings, reduced utility savings, etc...?!?!?!?

Plain and simple - repeal the 16th Amendment and incorporate a national sales tax of 17% on everything but grocery staples (i.e., milk, meat, bread, rice and beans)! There are already national sales taxes on gas, cigarettes and alcohol (probably more items), so why not just get rid of income tax returns across the board?!?!

I really don't care where you got your cash: employment, found it, inheritance, etc...! I just want you to get TAXED on it! PERIOD!

THAT, is a "fair share" for everyone! Anything else is CLASS WARFARE!

While we’re at it, I’d like us to return to one of the basic tenants of the Constitution, with one minor change. The Founding Fathers required all voters to be property owners. I’d change this to: If you don’t pay federal income taxes, you don’t get to vote in federal elections. Same for state and local elections, too. This might make it a little more difficult to justify some of the crap being passed in Washington.

Are you saying that no money from the US Treasury has gone to bail out Europe?

And are you suggesting that American taxpayers won’t end up paying for what the Fed has done? Because we will, one way or another.

Congress could see to it that the IMF never got another damn dime of US taxpayer money. But they won’t.
