KANSAS CITY, Mo., Sept. 20 (UPI) -- A Missouri kindergartner brought his mother's crack pipe and an ounce of drugs to his school's show-and-tell day, police said.

The children had been told to bring important family items to class at the Sweet Springs school, and school officials called police when the child produced the pipe and several baggies of drugs from his backpack, KCTV, Kansas City, reported Monday.

Police said the child's mother, Michelle Marie Cheatham, 32, has been charged with possession of a controlled substance and one count of first-degree child endangerment.

Police Chief Richard Downing said a child bringing drugs to show-and-tell was a first in his law enforcement career.

"When I called the prosecutor about it, they said, 'You're kidding me, aren't you?'"

The boy is now being cared for by family members, a family friend told KCTV.

" The children had been told to bring important family items to class"

That's just evil and a 4th ammendment violation (IMO) and someone needs to wear orange.

And I thought it would be a good idea for my son to bring in a picture book of him at Busch Gardens. I guess I need to get with the 21st century. Times a changing, right?

Me too. But I’m sure he knows how. I’m sure the kid has seen it done hundreds of times.

Be careful there’s a baby in the house
Loudon Wainwright

Be careful there’s a baby in the house,
And a baby will not be fooled
It will think and do what it wants to
until you get it schooled.

Be careful there’s a baby in the house,
And a baby will play it for real
if your I love you is an IOU don’t expect to get a good deal

look out momma, look out dad
your bundle of joy will not be had
if the blanket is blue if the blanket is pink
you’d best watch what you do you’d best watch what you think

Be careful there’s a baby in the house,
And a baby can spot your schtick
all the coochy coochy coo is a lot of poo poo
when you spread it on that thick

Be careful there’s a baby in the house,
And a baby is better than smart
it can waddle through all the stuff you do
never mind your big head start

LOL, true... but generally, ages 1 to 3 are considered “toddler” whereas the majority of kindergarteners start at 5 years old.
