Romney Closes in on Perry

After his bludgeoning in the Monday, September 12 GOP Debate, Texas Governor Rick Perry has lost more than half his lead over Mitt Romney in the polls. Perry's position as front runner makes him vulnerable by ganging up by the other contenders and his missteps on Social Security, immigration and the Papalloma virus have made him even more so. After Thursday's FOX News presidential debate, he and Romney should be about even - with Romney on the way up and Perry on the way down.

But I do know that if he were to renounce his open borders policy and adopt the sort of get-tough immigration measures Americans overwhelming support he could easily zoom back up in the polls

I have problems with Perry's tuition for illegals but let's be honest here. The borders is a federal matter and the border problem is the failure of Washington DC. It's not the governor's job to seal the borders. Let's blame Obama when he's due for blame. He surely does not hold back from blaming republicans (even when republicans are not the blame).

Remember, it was Perry who has been requesting that Obama 1000 troops and aircraft be sent to the Texas/Mexico border, It is Obama that refused.

It was Obama that has said that sealing the borders before getting Amnesty would take away the incentive to get Amnesty. Now THAT'S a crime.

I assume you are supporting either Cain or Bachmann. They are the only ones that score high on illegal aliens, deportation and NO amnesty.

Very funny.

But voting for yet another lackluster RINO will get us to the same place 0bamao is taking us, only slower. Maybe.

I figure if things get bad enough, and if the Marxist dullard gets reelected, it might be just enough to wake the people up.

At least the GOP will know that we won’t support RINOs anymore.

Yawn and double yawn. The two biggest flatulent gas balloons in the GOP/conservative primnaries are inevitably deflating.

Only the demrat propaganda organs keep these RINOs alive.

So you’re good with four more years of Obama?

Some people put politics above country by undermining just how bad of a President Obama really is. They feel, it's my candidate or no republican.

I honestly think that if Obama gets a second term we are finished as a nation. In the general I will vote for whoever gets the Republican nomination.

If that’s Romney, so be it, but in the primary - as between Romney and Perry, I go for Perry.

We are about finished as a nation already under Obama. We went from number one competitive nation to number five under Obama's watch.

If that’s Romney, so be it, but in the primary - as between Romney and Perry, I go for Perry.

I don't blame you.

Yes, and these people are not patriots, they are traitors. We are a team. We work to get the person we want to run in the general but after that primary, it’s Republican all the way!! To not vote straight Republican is to say you’d rather help a Democrat—that is unacceptable.

. . . And the "under achieving dullard in the White House"?

The diminishment, destruction and bankruptcy i.e. the worst transformation of America - the stuff of Obama's Campaign promises - is now manifest. The current pain and suffering that grips our country, do not speak to an 'under achiever' at work. And don't think for a minute he considers himself finished.

Please realize that 'four more' will be the Final Four for America, should Obama, Inc., get his second term chance.

Am not happy with our field thus far; and voting a 'choice' for certain. But a vote that allows a continuance of this abomination, taking our country to hell; is as close to treasonous perhaps, as a vote can get.IMHO.

Perry is right. As for the Ds, if they don’t have something to “exploit” that has actually been said, they’ll just make things up. Palin knows that, and if Mittens gets the nomination, he’ll find out.

Yes, now that he has Dick Morris’ and Bill Clinton’s endorsements, Romney’s success is assured...

>>On this earth, you are ALWAYS going to have to vote for the best choice you can make. Now, make the choice, do you want Romney or do you want Perry?<<

Bwahahahahaha! This far out we have to pick between only those two? Not this conservative. It would be a safe bet that it won’t be either Perry or Romney.

To not vote straight Republican is to say you’d rather help a Democrat—that is unacceptable.

I have always voted straight republican in every election for every candidate local / national.

Even though I've never done it, there are times when it's good for the party to teach them a lesson and not vote or (if one has more of a stomache than I do) vote for the democrat. You know, when we are well beyond a majority in both houses and a republican in the WH and we refuse to vote to re-elect a McCain or a Graham. But this is NOT the time to be teaching the republican party a lesson. Doing so this year is punishing Americans more than Republicans, destroying our system more than teaching the GOP a lesson and destroying our own country.

Paul is last on my list and Romney is right next to him. I'm from New England and I can tell you... when you talk to Romney in person he's not real. He careful what he says (even in person) almost robotic and very fake. He's a lifetime politician. He's a politician first, republican second and just because he has some business knowledge does not make him by default a conservative. He does not even mingle with the Tea Party.

If these polls are right. The Perry critics (those claiming Perry is not conservative) have pretty much handed Romney the nomination.

While I would take anybody over Obama, it will be difficult for Romney to beat Obama on Obamacare. How could he have the credibility to be against Obamacare when he has Romneycare?

Strangely I went to Google Perry the other day and I found so many negative things on him. Sadly, the website was FreeRepublic. I don’t blame FreeRepublic. It’s all out there folks and ready for the democrats to use against Perry if he were to become the nominee. The library for the democrats. Nice.

A lot of wisdom here. In what state do you live? I once lived in RI and in spite of it being infested with liberals, I still love the NE.

If you feel that way, fine, I have no problem with that so support whomever you want but after the primary, we unite against Obama.

However, observe what is happening right now. We have a bunch of Republican candidates all ganging up on Perry and it appears they are managing to drive up Romney's numbers. Just be mindful of these kinds of things.

I like Santorum, too, but in order to prevent Romney from being the nominee, I'll be supporting Perry.
