Nothing like missing an “o”. I meant to say “Gee, too bad?
Time for Iran to attack to protect the Shias...
Iran?! If you mean Iranian (Mullahs) regime & their goons, they don’t protect shia or sunni - they protect their interests, and themselves, akin to a leech, sucking on Iranian blood, and and using Iran as a nation state.
Ask Armenia, Republic of Azarbaijan, and even moslems in China how often, since coming to power, mullahs in Iran have spoken up or done anything for them moslems. Yes, I know Armenia is Christian, but Mullahs’ sided w/ a Christian nation (Armenia) against Turkey too.
Also, remember how Khomeini, Ahmadinejad, and Khamenei et al, very often wore/wear that Arafat black & white kafieh (headgear) as a scarf on their shoulders, and never stop their pro-Palestine & Palestinian rhetoric this & that? Well, Palestinians are by a large majority SUNNI.
That's the constant -- Because the fundamental theology & principles (i.e. Allah, Mohammad & the Koran), regardless of shia, sunni, etc.. are the same.
"The thing, which seems to be constant, is the various [Islamic?] sects tend to kill each other when the opportunity presents itself."
If you meant [Islamic] sects (i.e. shia & sunnis), then a large part (not all) of it has been because of politics from time immemorial. More so, in more modern history, associated politics have been deliberately reignited.
Much like the situation in Ireland - protestant vs Catholics feud. Also, related politics, powerplay & partitioning of Ireland into Northern Ireland & the Republic of Ireland. The situation w/ moslem sects isn't exactly the same, but a lot of similarities w/ Irish catholics, protestants, and related politics.
Even now, some people who are 'Brisith' (pro the UK as a 'Kingdom') tend to use the generic term: "Ireland" - rather than Northern Ireland. Thereby, conveniently overlooking a distinct country called "The Republic of Ireland".
Big difference is that Catholic & Protestant discord has, largely, moved on. With Shia & Sunnis it has not; it continues to be fed to add fuel to fires.
"though cannot understand all the various sects. Guess I should do more research."
Not that hard.. you know, there are, actually, fewer Islamic sects (denominations) than Christian ones.
The post was informative to me. Another point of view always helps me. Thanks odds.
Just another fun day in moozlum world. Move along...nothing to see here.
typo #9: ‘Brisith’ = ‘British’
