I am happy that I work well north of there. Whata buffoon to screw up traffic like this.

Is John Phillips still on the air in the air?

I live near the cincy metro area. This is terrible news for commuters. The Brent Spence is so touchy that even the slightest disturbance and it becomes a classic autobahr stau (mega traffic snarl).

It could stop traffic for hours from Dayton to Cincy and from Cincy to Florence Ky and beyond.

Do not get near the place.

Negative. He hasn’t flown in forever due to the ARTIMIS system and cameras. He had his own radio show but was later fired.

I don’t think so. Come to think of it, I haven’t heard an in air traffic report in years. Radio stations just surf to the Artemis site and report traffic that way.

John started at WVXU in the spring of 1974, then as an intern at WKRC-TV the next October, floor-directing Bowling for Dollars and The Nick Clooney Show. Started Q102 and 55KRC in March of 1975 doing anything they’d let him. He worked every on-air shift at 55KRC,and was production director, traffic-continuity director, music director, engineer, traffic reporter and assistant PD before he left Taft in July of 1983 for WLW. John got his pilot licenses in 1985 and accumulated 12,000 hours until the end of 2004. John reported the traffic from a studio until January of 2006, while filling-in for Jim Scott. In 2006, John teamed for a year with Brian Thomas in the morning on 55KRC.

From the mid 90s until they grounded the copter, John reported the traffic for all eight Clear Channel Radio Stations, WCIN and Channel 12, many of the reports “live,” and flew the helicopter by himself. John doesn’t know of any other pilot-reporters who carried that load.

John is now the Director of the Tribune Tower on Michigan Avenue in Chicago.

Brings back some memories! Used to hear his reports all the time when listening to Gary Burbank on 700. Burbank was incredible!

Thanks for the updates. Lived in range of the Big One for many years and always found his voice comforting for some odd reason, although I never had to transverse the Brent Spence or the cut in the hill.

Thinking of Obama and this obvious stunt, I keep flashign back to what may well be the single funniest TV episode ever..WKRP's Thanksgiving show..when the released the turkey's from the helicopter..amid Les Nessman's plaintive cry.... "I didn't know (domestic) turkeys couldn't fly.."

Is brave Obama going to walk or drive across this unsafe bridge?

Is this one of the bridges that Hussein Obama said was in serious need of repair?

Yes, and what better way to politicize it than to jack up traffic for hours. Unbelievable......

This is especially annoying since using the bridge as a political backdrop could be done without Soebarkah leaving the White House. Some wear and tear on one of the AF1 jets would be saved as well, but NO...he has to come and trash traffic.

Republicans should have a debate in Chicago concentrating on homegrown terrorism.
