well, by their own actions, they are certainly NOT Law Enforcement Officers...

I’m damn sick of Freepers relishing the thought of some criminal being raped in prison.

We in the USA are better than Pakistanis inflicting rape as a punishment.

And, permitting rape in the prisons is a laxity that allows the worst predators to have a power and a pleasure that they ought to lose as prisoners.

These two look brutal and thuggish enough that they are more likely to be rapers than rapees.

"His numerous pleas of 'I'm sorry,' 'I can't breathe,' 'Help Dad' (were) all to no avail. Screams, loud screams, didn't help,"

And of course, I'm sure you're attitude would be exactly the same if that was *your* son saying those words...

I’ll bet when the inmates learn they’re ex-cops that’ll grant a unique cachet to their experiences.

You mean they're not just going to just kiss b*tt?

Video from a bystander's cell phone taken from a distance showed parts of the bloody encounter in which Thomas can be heard screaming for his father.

...and in many jurisdictions, it is illegal to videotape a cop. This case is a prime example why such recordings need to be legal. Without it, some persons in authority will get away with murder.

Which is exactly the reason police don’t want anyone video taping them.

Any officer dojng his job correctly should have no objection.

I agree with you. I had a patient that was in his early 20’s married with kids that spent a short time in prision for a non-violent crime. His life is ruined. He now has AIDS from a prision rape.

Actually even if it were one of my sons, I would want the death penalty or life in prison for his killers. But not rape.

If, God forbid, one of my sons went to jail, he would likely be targeted for rape, as a white boy without much street smarts. Prison rapists victimize the young, the small, the non-violent, the novice criminals, the non-gang members, the worst preying on the not-as-bad.

We can have the rule of the brutes and bullies, or the rule of law. Cops beating a man to death, and the stronger raping the weaker in prison, are both rule of the brutes.

I'm wondering why all six weren't charged equally under accomplice liability laws.

The DA was on the radio about an hour ago and he said he had to consider how a reasonable person would have assessed the situation when each one arrived.

Let's for get that he'd never make that statement about 4 gang bangers who walked up on 2 other thugs beating someone...and either helped, or didn't stop it.

These cops aren't supposed to be merely "reasonable"...they are cops. They are the people that get to walk into court and pull the "training and experience" card that makes their word better that an ordinary citizen's. These are the guys that walk into situation daily and instantly believe they know exactly what is going on and what needs to happen. Then they vigorously defend their actions based on their superior ability to assess a situation.

But now...NOW....NOW...they want you use the excuse that they couldn't really be sure what was going on.

The reason this situation has us so incensed is that what happened to this poor man could happen to any of us, if our police have gotten this out of control. Any one of us could be sitting on a sidewalk curb, perhaps because our feet or our back hurt, but we’re sitting there minding our own business waiting for a ride. And some crazy cop could come up to us, and, well, it could be you or your kid, or your friend.

I sure hope they do a drug screen on these guys, see if they’re on steroids or something. Because the way they acted and what they did shows serious mental problems and use of drugs needs to be ruled out.

Finally. Or at least until these charges are actually tried. Maybe it won’t get that far. Or maybe this one was too egregious to maintain institutional arrogance. It has been coming to the point that someone being approached by a police officer has to decide whether or not to make a serious act of self defense before the officer can kill him or break his bones. Perhaps this is the start of a trend away from the cstrongly developing paradigm in which the Policeman IS the Law and Can Do No Wrong.

Definitely not in the Anglo Saxon Tradition- more like the Tsarist Soviet Tradition.

If all six don not face real charges that are actually prosecuted then nothing has changed.

This one was so bad and the immediate witnesses so immediately recorded that I’m sure it was decided that someone had to take a fall but the idea of taking down six (6)criminal policemen was too much to contemplate and might dangerously have made it more difficult for officers to commit these acts in the future. That would be intolerable and the MSM and the people would be calmed sufficiently if only one or two were made to take the fall for the six.

You know why this guy is dead? Because we abandoned him to the streets.

If it wasn’t a couple of filthy criminal predator cops, he would have been murdered by a civilian thug for the stuff in his bag. Or he would have died of some disease related to exposure. Or O.D.’ed. Or hit by a car.

Most families are not capable of handling a severely mentally ill adult. When are Californians going to flip the bird to ACLU types and demand legislation that will allow families to commit the mentally ill against their will? Right now, it’s nearly impossible. And even if you could, where could you put them? We were also bullied by busybodies into closing all the state mental hospitals.

This tragic event is the shame of all Californians, and not just because of a couple of psycho cops.

The MSM portion of the media won't stay on it because the victim was white and presumably heterosexual therefore of no consequence or even by those lights guilty of being white, heterosexual nd male. Nothing in the reports alluded to the man's sexuality but were he gay he would be an instant Cause for the ACLU and the entire Left.
