(CBS/AP) JACKSON, Ga. - Georgia executed Troy Davis on Wednesday night for the murder of an off-duty police officer, a crime he denied committing right to the end as supporters around the world mourned and declared that an innocent man was put to death.
Defiant to the end, he told relatives of Mark MacPhail that his 1989 slaying was not his fault. "I did not have a gun," he insisted.

If only Mumia was next...
And in the meantime, the Twitter crazies are being whipped into a frenzy against not only Justice Clarence Thomas, but against Michelle Malkin(??) by Alec Baldwin:
Michelle’s getting quite a few threats from these creatures.
BZZZZZZZZZTTT....he got the wrong answer.
Oh no, he’s been using brand XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
It’s weird how so many pro-abortion, baby killers can get themselves so worked up over the execution of a cop killer. They’ll get over it.
Not one Supreme Court Justice was in favor of staying his execution. Just proves it’s the usual anti-death penalty/liberal/racist mob since they single out Thomas.
Why not call out Souter or Ginsburg?
Killed a cop. Justice was deserved. I don’t mourn Justice.
She is getting death threats like crazy by the lefties. What the hell did Malkin do? She didn’t do anything, why the hell are they going after her? And the idiots who are making death threats against her, the cops will be at their door shortly since they can easily be identified by their twitter name and IP address
Exactly, how come they are not going after the LIBERAL judges who also denied his stay of execution..I dont see any of the liberal freakazoids going after them..because they would never go after their own kind, instead they will focus on Clarence Thomas because they hate him..Justice was served, RIP Mark MacPhail, the REAL victim here, gone but never forgotten!
I’m not entirely sure what you meant by that. Anyway, congratulations to Georgia where cop-killers really get what they deserve.
One less cop killer.
Has anyone heard about any street level reaction to this in Atlanta or Macon?
I like the pic.
However, it’s ironic you use the A-Team for an execution article. The show specifically never killed anyone, even though there was gunfire all over. They just never hit anyone and killed them. It was totally on purpose too. Tehy never wanted to do it.
I think in this case he’d still be giving the thumbs up.
The phrase is the first think that popped into my head when I read the article. What are you going to do?
>>as supporters around the world mourned
That means London.
“Amnesty International says nearly 1 million people had signed a petition on Davis’ behalf”
The day something like this petition has any bearing on our justice system is the day we can toss the whole thing off the fantail and switch to the law of the jungle.
Bullshit CBS article. Read Ann Coulter’s column and find out about the other 27 witnesses, including close-up eyewitnesses who saw the shooting.
Those who “recanted” had some very serious credibility issues.
The officer was shot under his vest and in the head. A lot of people saw this, and even got his shirt color/writings right.
The guy did it in cold blood. He’s dead. GOOD.
CBS = Cold Blood Shooter Supporter
That and a nickle will buy you a nice hot cup of JACK SQUAT!
I am disgusted that we put Troy Davis to death tonight.
We should have done it in 1989.
Alec Baldwin has a lot to do with the howling mob against her. See below:
AlecBaldwin Alec Baldwin C'mon!! Let's go all Town Hall on that supreme thinker @michellemalkin. A world class, crypto fascist hater!
You left off welfare aiding, lawless, Muslim adoring moronic Libtards.
Let the riots begin.
Where did I come off as supporting Troy Davis? My original statement was that Mumia should be executed next, instead of the stupid new sentence hearing song and dance he’s been pulling for decades. I’m glad Georgia was able to put an end to such shameful legal maneuverings and carry out his sentence.
> Just proves its the usual anti-death penalty/liberal/racist mob since they single out Thomas.<
Justice Thomas is from Georgia and he’s black. He should have driven down there and smacked the syringe right out of the executioner’s hand!
I think we all remember how Alec Baldwin treats women, especially his own daughter who he called a “Rude, thoughtless little pig” over the phone, I believe she was 11 years old at the time..what a scumbag!! Malkin didn’t do anything wrong yet I have seen horrific death threats against her..calling her a racist, etc..maybe these loons don’t realize that the Davis jury was comprised of African Americans, they convicted him, he was convicted by a jury of his PEERS
Thanks for the clarification, the leftoids at CBS and throughout the media made it sound like a lot of eye witnesses changed their mind, they didn’t mention there were over 20 that didn’t and saw him kill this policeman in cold blood. I also heard nothing in the media about the shell casings at the site matching the gun this POS used in other crimes..
And this gem at the end of the article - “In Texas, white supremacist gang member Lawrence Russell Brewer was put to death for the 1998 dragging death of a black man, James Byrd Jr., one of the most notorious hate crime murders in recent U.S. history.”
How many of the anti-capital punishment folks were protesting the execution of this other POS in Texas? How many in Paris were carrying signs with Lawrence Russell’s picture on it? Guess it’s okay to execute some folks and not others.
With liberals its ALWAYS about race, they use it to their advantage so they can have riots, etc..but they don’t give a damn about the black community at all, they just use them for their own agenda. Liberals hate cops so to them what Davis did was a good thing. They see the police as the enemy, they are truly despicable pieces of scum.
He will always be either Banacek or Lt. Bruno Stachel or Zeb Rawlings to me...not that goofy show
Coulter’s column is good, but I’m hitting brick walls when I try to cite it with libs. Do you happen to have another source for the 34 witnesses figure?
(To clarify: I’m not questioning the accuracy of Coulter’s account; I just want to cover my bases when I destroy the “seven out of nine recanted” BS.)
Brewer got what he deserved also, but did Amnesty Int’l have any petitions on his behalf?
In this particular case, several witness have recanted, and there’s not any substantial forensic evidence. I think they may have executed an innocent person.
Yes, if Ann Coulter is correct, then it does seem that he is indeed guilty.
Grundle, I read that he admitted to shooting another man in the face, although he denied shooting the cop.
So as far as I’m concerned he can be put to death for the other shooting at the very least.
i believe someone cited it on the ann coulter/this story thread
27 people insisted you did.
On the left it is all about US and Them.
Maybe we’ll be fortunate enough to see Alec Baldwin get dragged behind a car in time for the next election.
Only a truly civilized and virtuous society has the moral authority to expect it’s people to obey the law and to expect as well the ultimate justice for violating the ultimate law.
Societies without Capital Punishment or fail to use Capital Punishment in an effective way degenerate.
NONE. We here in Atlanta insure the wanna-be Africans who are really Americans that want to tear something up keep that conduct in the West-end ie they get to tear up their own neighbourhoods if they want and then no body will notice.
What they didn't tell you is that ACORN was collecting the signatures. :-P
I personally think they should have drug him from Dallas to Brownsville and then executed what was left.
This is the first 30+ pages of the Federal Court Order going over the dozens of eye witness reports. The rest of the case is on another thread, I'll try to find and repost it.
It was in the 170+ page federal reexamination brief that prosecutors submitted in support of his sentence ...
