CBS ^

Posted on 09/21/2011 9:10:07 PM PDT by Borough Park

(CBS/AP)  JACKSON, Ga. - Georgia executed Troy Davis on Wednesday night for the murder of an off-duty police officer, a crime he denied committing right to the end as supporters around the world mourned and declared that an innocent man was put to death.

Defiant to the end, he told relatives of Mark MacPhail that his 1989 slaying was not his fault. "I did not have a gun," he insisted.

I am disgusted that we put Troy Davis to death tonight.

We should have done it in 1989.

Where did I come off as supporting Troy Davis? My original statement was that Mumia should be executed next, instead of the stupid new sentence hearing song and dance he’s been pulling for decades. I’m glad Georgia was able to put an end to such shameful legal maneuverings and carry out his sentence.

> Just proves it’s the usual anti-death penalty/liberal/racist mob since they single out Thomas.<

Justice Thomas is from Georgia and he’s black. He should have driven down there and smacked the syringe right out of the executioner’s hand!

I think we all remember how Alec Baldwin treats women, especially his own daughter who he called a “Rude, thoughtless little pig” over the phone, I believe she was 11 years old at the time..what a scumbag!! Malkin didn’t do anything wrong yet I have seen horrific death threats against her..calling her a racist, etc..maybe these loons don’t realize that the Davis jury was comprised of African Americans, they convicted him, he was convicted by a jury of his PEERS

Thanks for the clarification, the leftoids at CBS and throughout the media made it sound like a lot of eye witnesses changed their mind, they didn’t mention there were over 20 that didn’t and saw him kill this policeman in cold blood. I also heard nothing in the media about the shell casings at the site matching the gun this POS used in other crimes..

And this gem at the end of the article - “In Texas, white supremacist gang member Lawrence Russell Brewer was put to death for the 1998 dragging death of a black man, James Byrd Jr., one of the most notorious hate crime murders in recent U.S. history.”

How many of the anti-capital punishment folks were protesting the execution of this other POS in Texas? How many in Paris were carrying signs with Lawrence Russell’s picture on it? Guess it’s okay to execute some folks and not others.

With liberals its ALWAYS about race, they use it to their advantage so they can have riots, etc..but they don’t give a damn about the black community at all, they just use them for their own agenda. Liberals hate cops so to them what Davis did was a good thing. They see the police as the enemy, they are truly despicable pieces of scum.

Davis was not the only U.S. inmate put to death Wednesday evening. In Texas, white supremacist gang member Lawrence Russell Brewer was put to death for the 1998 dragging death of a black man, James Byrd Jr., one of the most notorious hate crime murders in recent U.S. history.

It's a shame there was no Texas hate crime law on the books at the time so that Brewer could have received a harsher sentence.

Coulter’s column is good, but I’m hitting brick walls when I try to cite it with libs. Do you happen to have another source for the 34 witnesses figure?

(To clarify: I’m not questioning the accuracy of Coulter’s account; I just want to cover my bases when I destroy the “seven out of nine recanted” BS.)

Brewer got what he deserved also, but did Amnesty Int’l have any petitions on his behalf?

In this particular case, several witness have recanted, and there’s not any substantial forensic evidence. I think they may have executed an innocent person.

Oh.

Yes, if Ann Coulter is correct, then it does seem that he is indeed guilty.

Grundle, I read that he admitted to shooting another man in the face, although he denied shooting the cop.

So as far as I’m concerned he can be put to death for the other shooting at the very least.
