You know all those rusting bridges that President Obama wants to spend billions more dollars repairing to allegedly stimulate the economy?
He's headed out to one today which he's described as a "bridge that needs repair between Ohio and Kentucky that's on one of the busiest trucking routes in North America." It is on a busy trucking route, spanning the Ohio River between Covington, Ky., and Cincinnati.
It's the Brent Spence Bridge. It doesn't really need repairs. It's got decades of good life left in its steel spans. It's just overloaded. The bridge was built to handle 85,000 cars and trucks a day, which seemed like a lot back during construction in the Nixon era.
Today, the bridge sort of handles more than 150,000 vehicles a day with frequent jam-ups.
So, plans are not to repair or replace the Brent Spence Bridge. But to build another bridge nearby to ease the loads.
But here's the problem, as John Merline graphically notes here, that could screw up all those envisioned photo op shots of the Democrat and the traffic:
The president's jobs bill is designed for "immediate" highway spending.
And the new $2.3 billion Cincy bridge is not scheduled to even start construction for probably four years, long after Republicans have scheduled the Obama presidency for completion.

No wonder even Bill Clinton is throwing him under the bus.

It’s not really an Ohio bridge. Only the on and off ramps on the Cincy side are in Ohio. Ya see, the Ohio River is all in Kentucky. Bank to bank.
After the hand waving thing yesterday, I called him “President Oblivious.” It was a joke, but I’m starting to think it’s reality too.
Touts his job stimulus plan in front of a bridge that will not be eligible for funds.

Known it for sometime now, not only is Obama not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but....he is mentally challenged at best!!! it would not be too bad if his staff could cover for this buffoon, but....there is not one sane or capable person on the entire staff. Dems, you better wake up and get rid of this total incompetent Obama dude, or......you dudes & chicks are going down, big time, with him, come November, 2012. And.....Dems, please tell your DNC chick, Debbie Wasserman Schultz to stop constantly blinking her eyes when interviewed on FNC!!! She looked like an insane woman this morning on Fox & Friends. Shucks, she probably is really, not all there, all the time!!! Some Chairwoman you Dems have chosen. What do you expect, Obama the idiot made the choice!!!

If he just needed a photo-op at a bridge, there must be plenty of bridges in Maryland or Virginia that would have served just as well, and wouldn't have required taking a trip on Air Force One.
Bubba may be laying the groundwork for Lurleen to run in 2012.
Doesn’t He have people to to His homework for him? Or are they all kept in the dark because of the absence of solar panels on the White House?

Did Obama actually touch this bridge? If he did, any bets on how long before it falls?

The bridge isn't in danger of collapsing - it is just being overused. The new project would be a new span to offload traffic from the existing bridge ...

The world economy is collapsing today and he’s off giving a campaign speech on a bridge. You really can’t make this stuff up.
