Can Two and Half Men Survive Without Charlie?

What was that thud Monday night? Oh yeah, it was the season premiere of Two and Half Men without Charlie Sheen!

Two and Half Men, a long time running favorite, had 28 million viewers on the September 19th’s season premiere episode titled, “All Will Be Revealed”. Sheen's hairy replacement, Ashton Kutcher, did reveal a lot in the literal sense because of his naked scenes that were placed strategically throughout the episode. But, what was really revealed were the 9500+ negative comments posted on Two and Half’s Facebook page that suggested that Sheen’s aftermath of his altered fury has buried the chance of Two and Half Men to continue on as a fan favorite without good ‘ol Charlie.

The reveal episode opened with the funeral for Charlie’s untimely death that may or may not have been caused by his newly wedded wife, Rose. Rose, his long time on again, off again stalker girlfriend, found Charlie in the shower with another woman on day number 2 of their union and the next thing you know, Charlie is dismembered after he fell in front of an oncoming train in Paris leaving nothing but financial despair for his beach front property.

Ashton’s character came to play as a man who chickened out of committing suicide because the water was too cold. He stopped by Sheen’s beach home looking for a phone and maybe a reason to be brought into the episode, too. Whatever it was, it flopped.

The question remains, will Charlie be brought back from the dead to help resurrect the show, or will this be another end to an era? Judging by the Facebook comments, the network needs to swallow their pride, fasten their seatbelt and get ready for another frenzied ride on the Charlie train.

No the real question is why is it still on the air. Why wasn’t it canceled after six episodes.

I’ve survived without 2 1/2 men for years and don’t care one way or the other if it survives.

I don’t think it will hold its current audience, but if Ashton Kutches does the nude thing on a regular basis, it could attract a new, different audience.

A more important question is, “Why would anyone care if it survives”!!

Uh, no offense intended, but who cares?

Charlie Sheen is a turd, and it’s impossible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

The “kid” is now a grown up. It should be called “3 boring men”.

28 million viewers minus 9500 negative commenters still leaves lots of viewers.

98% of TV is pure crap. That show is one of the crappiest.

I hope it has now jumped the shark.

I watched it until Kelso came on. He’ll always be Kelso to me. I like(d) That 70’s Show but always liked Kelso the least of all the characters.

Oh, and WTF happened to Jenny McCarthy’s face? WOW! BAD, BAD SURGERY. She used to be so pretty.

Too many haters on this thread. Anyway, That 70s Show was awesome and so was Two Men and a Half until Charlie Harper had to be killed off because in real life, he went crazy.

Yep. Chazz Sheen “seems” to be saner these days...rehab, perhaps?

Two and a Half Men, like The Office, are on the last toe of their last leg; you can’t ditch the series star and still go on.

Ignore Hollyweird and maybe it’ll go away.

Charlie Harper was Charlie Sheen was 2 1/2 Men.

When Hollywood said they didnt want him no more, they said goodbye to his runaway train life as a sitcom and cash cow for everyone. Can you really believe that Hollywood said that he was too far gone and refused to make (more) money off his crazy lifestyle??(!!)??

Just when you think you can count on something.

I enjoyed the show and have all the old episodes on disk.

But I could only stand 10 minutes of the first episode without Charlie.

Comedy is a very fragile thing and if you try too hard or modify a working recipe even a little it falls apart.

They were trying way too hard to be funny... it was an epic fail.

“I am honored that it took something as large and violent as an oncoming train to terminate my character,” Sheen said. “Anything less would have been an insult!”

They have signed contracts for bought commercial time. As long as they have taken the money for the time they will have to put on a show. Good or bad. When they quit buying time slots the show will go off the air. It has nothing to do with the quality of a show, it's if the show can sale advertisement time.

If the rest of the planet can survive without Charlie Sheen, then certainly about anything else can.
