Yes I remember. Luntz was on ABC This Week within the last 8 weeks sometime. He said there was no room for Gov Palin in the race because of Bachmann

If you think we should treat these children like the criminals they aren't, then I'd have to say yes you do not have a heart.

To give the children of these law breaking illegal alien parents a leg up over the children of law abiding Americans who played by the rules and paid their fair share of taxes all along and then give them the middle finger in favor of the children of illegal alien parents is not what this nation should be about or doing.

If that makes me heartless then so be it. I favor law abiding American parents getting what is fair and just and telling the illegal alien parents to get out and take their children back home with them and let them learn the hard lessons of doing things the legal and proper way and this is what happens when the laws of a nation are flagrantly violated.

These children should not receive any tax payer monies while telling American families, sorry but we don't care about you and your kids never mind that you've worked hard all your life and saved money to help educate your kids and then have a arrogant politician tell you that you don't matter any more and that furthermore you should now keep paying even more taxes to subsidize and educate some illegal aliens kids. Pure BS.

I know I'll get blasted and insulted for this position. I still believe in it. Perry may go down in flames but I think he is right. He signed a bill with only 4 dissenting votes. So I'm not the only one who shares the position.

There are other states, 13 that had a similar program but that isn't the issue as Perry is the Gov of one that has this program.

Allow In-State Tuition for Undocumented Students

I was for Perry... before tonight.

He is a terrible debater.

He has no passion, he stutters and stammers, and he let’s too many challenges go unanswered.

His “You don’t have a heart” remark on illegals was pathetic.

And he doesn’t take it to Obama enough... I don’t remember him even mentioning Obama’s name tonight.

Yup. Big one. Your illegals are costing American taxpayers jobs and money.

Illegal immigration is ILLEGAL. What part of that do you not get? Logic man! If they are illegal to begin with, they should not be here. So your law should have no one here to take advantage of it to begin with!

The U.S. Department of Education mandates that all states educate their students. Proof of citizenship is not a pre-requisite. Therefore, local I.S.D's are forced to educate their local students. Nobody on the state level can deport these people or turn them away from a public education.

Perry and Texas took a bold and decisive stand on the issue - to educate EVERYONE at state tuition rates if they can pass the SAT or ACT. We already had to educate them from K-12 and had no choice in the matter.

People including hundreds here on FR need to think more practically and less with a beer mug and armchair reaction. This is real life for people in Texas. Both white and hispanic. Real life for real people. The failure of the federal government should not be placed on the backs of Texans who want all residents to succeed with an education. Including a college education if they can cut the mustard.

People need to calm down on the Luntz focus group. Obama will not be defeated by the votes of Freepers. It will be Freepers plus RINO’s plus independents. Luntz analyzes those other groups which is very important.

People can all bag on Romney but the bottom line is that he sounded more conservative than Rick Perry tonight on a bunch of issues. And it wasn’t just talk as he vetoed the instate tuition in Mass.

The bottom line is that a lot of us bought into some hype on Perry and now that we are seeing him in action, the results are less impressive. Frankly I wish a second tier person like Santorum or Cain would get some traction after tonight to provide a counterweight to Mitt.

Well on the national level, Gov. Palin stated she was against the Dream Act.

That is because the Federal Government does not have the Constitutional Authority to pass a national Dream Act.

This is a State issue.

Texas almost unanimously supported the Texas Dream Act.

You got a problem with that?

The Texas legislature passed a veto-proof version of the immigration bill in question. Is Texas being completely misrepresented?

Here is the deal:
Illegal immigrants entering Texas’ higher education system are direct beneficiaries of a 1982 Supreme Court decision, Plyler vs. Doe. Parents in Tyler sued after the state began charging tuition for illegal immigrant children. The court ruled that Texas and the rest of the country must educate illegal immigrant children free of charge in public schools.

Some of the most vocal illegal immigration opponents don’t oppose the decision. But they say higher education is different, because it is tuition-based.

Suit challenges law

A lawsuit was filed in December challenging Texas’ law providing the students in-state tuition and state aid. The students are not eligible for federal aid such as Pell Grants.

Attorneys for the Immigration Reform Coalition of Texas sued the University of Houston, Houston Community College and Lone Star College systems in Harris County District Court, but the case was moved to federal court. “It’s not like we’re swimming in budget surpluses,” said attorney David Rogers. “It’s the responsibility of the government of Mexico to educate Mexican citizens.”

“Perry and Texas took a bold and decisive stand on the issue”

At the expense of American taxpayers and their rights. ILLEGAL as in not here LEGALLY. Bottom ;line. All the rest is just lipstick on a pig - laws that should not be.

The other 49 states didn’t weigh in. You are a gateway state. The other 49 pay for your laws as your illegals fan out.

At least we have Arpio trying to do what he can in AZ - where’s your border defense? He’s giving speeches to LaRaza...

Clearly, the ‘Muslim and/or even the ‘shariah’ question’ is off the political table. Perhaps, after, we have our nominee; or, is this issue to be forever ignored - at our expense.
