Senate Democrats vow to reject GOP's aid plan

WASHINGTON (AP) -- With the economy sputtering, the warring factions of Congress headed toward gridlock Thursday night over the typically noncontroversial steps of delivering disaster aid or even keeping the government from shutting down.

Senate Democrats signaled they'll reject a House move to try to force a smaller aid package upon them and partially pay for it with cuts to programs Democrats insist create jobs. A top Senate aide revealed the strategy on condition of anonymity.

The battle erupting on Capitol Hill sends a discouraging sign as a bitterly divided Washington looks ahead to more significant debates on President Barack Obama's jobs plan and efforts by a congressional supercommittee to slash deficits.

"We're fed up with this," said Democratic Whip Dick Durbin of Illinois. "They know what it takes ... to extend (stopgap funding) and keep the government in business. And this brinkmanship ... we're sick of it."

Apparently the numerous Obama admins. scandals are getting so hot than Dingy wants to vacate DC altogether.

This had nothing to do with defeating the bill. It was the democrats wanting 1.5 billion for green cars! Republicans said no!

Gawd I hate the liberal media. They couldn't tell the truth if their enterprises depended on it!

The money to offset natural disaster with non-priority budget items (such as "green cars") was negotiated MONTHS ago.

The Democrats know it - the media know it.

What we are witnessing is a hissy fit because Union Thug/Green Job payoffs want their cut.

Shut it down! Every day the govt is closed is another day of respite from the damage they cause.

The drama and battling over disaster aid and stopgap spending is unusual.

The Dodos at AP who wrote this can barely state the real reason why the GOP house rejected this: this is a green job fraud seeking taxpayer's money to waste...again.

Okay - let the Dems shut down the government. Plenty of fodder to use against them during their Senatorial re-election campaigns.
