WASHINGTON (KGO) -- Two top executives at bankrupt Solyndra have invoked their Fifth Amendment rights and refused to answer questions at a House hearing Friday.
The Solyndra executives have sent letters to the House Energy and Commerce committee, saying they will invoke their Fifth Amendment right to remain silent.

The REPUBs should calculate how many taxpayers we have in the US and then calculate how that 500 million plus would distribute back to those hwo were forced to give that money. and keep hammering how each taxpayer should get back ...$ from that terrible RAT-driven company-government deal.

Let’s be fair. Regardless of what this Committee needs and deserves to know, these two men are facing possible criminal indictments, not to mention being scapegoated by the Regime and DOE. The FBI just raided their offices and carried off anything and everything that they thought pertained to the case so these two men do not even have access to their own records.
Like it or not, the 5th Amendment exists for exactly this purpose, and since neither of these men have been charged with, tried for, or convicted of any charge whatsoever, and all we know about this case for certain is what the Media has reported about it, and since there is little if any factual evidence even available at this point, these two men are entitled to plead the 5th, and would in fact be insane not to do so.
There are somewhere around 140 million taxpayers in the USA.
A real number is difficult to determine because so many who file don't actually owe taxes in a given year and quite a large number actually get money from the EOTC.
So the cost to each real taxpayer might be about $4.00 each.

I agree with you, I would never testify before a congressional investigation hearing. Who in their right mind would. In fact, I would never testify before any investigation without the advise of an attorney.

No, I based my remarks upon the protections against self-incrimination that the United States Constitution requires for any American Citizen who is accused of a crime.
Again from the top, with emphasis: These men have not yet been accused of anything formally, and are entitled to a fair trial, and freedom from self-incrimination.
To my knowledge, neither of these men works for the FBI, Justice Department or the Obama Administration, so I am not at all sure how your comments even apply here. The subject is the use of 5th Amendment....

The Solyndra money probably spend 24 hours or less in an actual Solyndra account. Then it was moved to the execs’ personal accounts, where it may have remained. Or, it possibly moved offshore then for laundering to re-appear in Obama’s personal pocket or his campaign coffers. There’s a reason FBI removed the computers from homes as well as offices.
Invoking the 5th is almost, and can be better than testimony.

The FBI/DOJ will lock up the Solyndra files with an 'ongoing investigation' routine, the DOE is going to be covering its rear-end big time with their 'they lied to us about their financial situation' arguments and it seems unlikely that Obama will allow anyone from the WH who really knows anything to testify.
And does anyone really believe that Eric Holder is going to indict the CEO of Solyndra? Not a chance.

You missed the chapter where the execs agreed to testify if the hearing was delayed. This is all being carefully choreographed by the dims. FBI raid, take the fifth, CYA NY times article dropped day of hearings, talking points, etc.
I really don’t understand why this hearing is on a friday. After the dirty pool by the dims the Republicans should have started the hearing on a monday and called a single exec everyday for a few days. Let them take the fifth three or four days in a row!
Ollie North wrote the book on how to testify before Congressional hearings. Part of me thinks they lay awake at night in a cold sweat fearful that someone will one day have the stones to do that to them once again.

This incident must be fully investigated to find out where all the money went and why it went to certain people. The whole thing is outrageous. We could have paid for full 4-year scholarships for 10,000 kids at state universities with the money wasted on this company. House Republicans should continue pushing this investigation until they discover the truth about where all the money went and why.
Forensic accounting will burn this pair and others. Remember this moment when they ask for mercy.
