I never stated he was a god, he was a great leader with the foresight to take the country into prosperity and security. Hence the separation that garners to anyone running, not running at this time.

Let's back up a bit. Palin does not enjoy unprecedented popularity anywhere but on this website. She has the highest published negatives of any candidate or non-candidate. She has a light track record and was party to a failed ticket. Sure she helped McCain and sure that ticket, as bad as McCain was/still is was fighting Bush hangover, that doesn't mean she has the capability or the experience to sit in the biggest chair on the planet.

She has not accomplished anything on any scale that can put her in comparison to Reagan.

What makes me laugh about this site is that she says all the right things, which is exactly what the party needs to change course, but they are not her ideas. She's regurgitating Goldwater and Reagan.

You would think from reading the ridiculous daily prayer threads and the posts against accomplished leaders like Cheney for simply questioning her motives that she's the nation's answer to all of it's fault, thanks to God giving her to us.

She has more reality TV experience than she does as governor.

I like her, I think she's great at getting a crowd juiced, I think she brings the level of debates higher.

Just dispense with the Reagan comparisons. She's not even close.

Sorry, but you're just flat wrong, and I'm tired of debunking that leftist meme. Open your eyes. Observe everything. She's got a broader and deeper level of support, than any other presidential hopeful in the country. 'Nuff said. Take it or leave it.

She has not accomplished anything on any scale that can put her in comparison to Reagan. Just dispense with the Reagan comparisons. She's not even close.

Again - you can keep your eyes firmly glued shut if you like, but there are very good reasons that she's so frequently compared to Reagan. The similarities between them are noticeable, and undeniable for any who care to just look.

No matter. If you're not convinced by now that Sarah Palin is the one person who embodies all that this country needs in its next president, then you'll just have to be one of those who figures it all out after it's already happened.

Later.

So this is what it’s like to be a drone.

We agree on the ‘later’ part at least.

Man, you're really making me warm up to your way of thinking with your posts.

I mean, the way you so evidently use gentle persuasion with generous doses of reason and logic, is really making me appreciate your viewpoints about Palin.

You're really convincing, you know that?

You started off by telling me not to treat Reagan like a god and then come back at me saying that Palin is the only one that anyone likes, that she’s Reagan incarnate and she’s desitined to capture the presidency and I’ll find out for myself.

How am I supposed to take the conversation seriously from that point on?

My intention was to say (and I did) that she is great, she has great qualities but despite her rhetoric she’s not close to Reagan. Her accomplishments are small and her executive record is light.

I’ll stand by that.

That said, if she gets the nomination I will vote for her.

If you're going to exaggerate the things I say, we're never going to have a reasoned discussion. It's also insulting to be mis-quoted, as you're doing.

For the record, you are treating Reagan like a god, or some kind of holy saint. No comparisons of Palin to him are allowed, whether the similarities exist or not.

Notice I said similarities, your grace. Maybe I should leave an offering in the plate?

I am treating him as one of the greatest leaders in modern day history. I do not shy away from that at all.

You can compare Palin to him on rhetoric all day long. Based on that criteria alone, there are a host of politicians who can claim they are like Reagan. I am beyond similarities because you are promoting her for president, which then goes to accomplishments. It’s at this point we part ways.

She has no meaningful executive experience (half term of one of the most least populated states is not enough) and her accomplishments are few, railing against the establishment and the oil companies are noteworthy, but does not put her any higher on that scale than Perry/Romney/Huntsman/Johnson who can all claim some kind of plank based accomplishments (as meaningless as they are). That last statement is not an endorsement for any of them BTW.

Reagan had a long track record of fighting not only the party but convential wisdom. He then was a successful two term govenor who’s one fault was the abortion issue which he regreted. He then moved to the national stage to push the establishment into a NEW direction, eventually taking the mantle and moving it all, becoming the standard bearer of the modern conservative movement.

Palin is simply trying to get the country back to Reagan’s model. She offers nothing new, she says nothing original and she has very little real experiences to point back to that gives her the brass ring above all others.

One more time, I like her. I like what she stands for and I like her ability to raise the level of discourse. If need be I will vote for her.

Your offering plate line made me laugh. I can’t get my family to listen to me so I don’t rate that high.

Sorry that you don't see the obvious parallels between these two great patriots, but they're there to see for anyone who cares to look.

You've got your viewpoint, and I've got mine. In time, I think you'll find that I was correct.
