In an interview with Fox News Megyn Kelly, former Pennsylvania senator Rick Santorum commented on the reaction to a question from a gay soldier at last nights debate. I condemn the people who booed that gay soldier, he said. I have to admit I seriously did not hear those boos. ... But certainly had I, I wouldve said, Dont do that. This man is serving our country and we are to thank him for his service.

I was booing the policy and the question.
There were 2 at most and it was after the soldier asked the question. I think it was the question and not the soldier that was booed.
You against free speech? Cheering and booing are forms of free speech.
He is doing but causing problems for the real Men that are serving My Country.
Probably the question being booed. If he’s gay...ok. If he’s out there dodging bullets and risking death for a country that allows him to live the way he wants in civi life...booing is disgusting. I could care less what he does with his penis. That’s up to God to judge.
What are the odds that a gay soldier would get through with a question...
Spineless Santorum shows us why he is an Ex-Senator.
Well, the administration and homosexual lobby have convinced me that our military is full of homosexuals, so I guess the odds would be pretty good.
I think the questions were submitted earlier and voted on. He didn’t need to say he was gay, he could have just asked his question. He chose to announce that he was gay.
That’s free speech alright, but it is no different than heckling a bad comic. What’s the point. They are trying to discuss serious issues at these debates and we have hooting and hollering from the audience like a bunch of drunk Eagles fans. Decorum matters in my book.
Come on Rick. They weren’t booing asoldier serving his country.
They were booing the latest issue in the culture wars that has been used like a wedge not to enhance military strength or even fairness, but create more social chaos and anarchy in an area that should be free of social expirementation that the social engineers are foisting upon the rest of society. You know that Rick.
He sure didn't.
It was quite obvious that he was a poofer.
I don’t agree with the booing, but I thought it was wrong for this stupid question from the gay soilder to get through in the first place. I thought Sanitarium nailed the answer, then he had to go screw it up by “condemning” the crowd just as the MSM wanted him to.
The soldier had to make the point that he was a fag. Why?
I wish there had been a candidate who told him off for wearing his perversion on his sleeve.
It didn’t prevent any serious discussion. Santorum answered the question and he did a fine job. Gays didn’t like it obviously and now they are trying to stir the pot. He didn’t have to mention that he was gay. He could have just asked the question. If you want the audience to shut up and not react, perhaps he should have shut up and not announced it. That works both ways. jmo
Gays in the military is an incremental step in destroying the family, and implementing State control of how children are raised. Read the Communist Manifesto. You can bet there will be greater demands as time goes on. Acceptance will become enforcement (”not enough gays in the military”).
And I must ask, have we turned “serving our country” into the new race card? Is it the new phrase to shut down dissent and end the conversation?
As I understand it, Santorum condemning booing but did he back track or apologize for the answer he gave at the debate?
How dare people think they have a right to express an opinion! Off with their heads for questioning immorality and bad government policy!
More importantly, this is not a rally, but a debate. We`re supposedly the adult party, but people there can`t go that long without hooting their emotional responses? Let the viewers take in the candidates` responses without the editorializing from the studio audience like they`re at the Leno show. Some folks seem to think letting our message get out without emotional outbursts is a form of `silencing` but I can`t figure out how letting our side speak clealry is `silencing` anything. But some people need to feel put-upon.
In elementary schools showing it off to children, would that be okay?
Day late.He should have done that last night. He’s riding the Howard Dean train to irrelevance.Just go away!
Because exhibitionism and recruiting and brainwashing the youngsters are the top goal of all homosexuals.

Santoum is a good man. I have now narrowed down my field to Santorum and Cain. I really like Cain. He has the right solutions. I don’t know as much about Santorum yet.
Yeah,Yeah, how dare Rick Perry be a state rights man,and be bashed upside the head constantly for it. Especially when it doesn’t cost us a dime! yeah yeah, see see.
About the same odds a kid with a heart could get on to ask a question about pre-existing conditions; 100%. He was booed for his homosexual agenda question which most Conservatives are sick of.
Pray for America
From what I could read it doesn’t look like he retracted anything. I went to the link and they had a section on winners and losers of the debate. Winners were Romney, Newt and then Santorum. There might be hope yet for inching Romney out. 9 9 9 even got mentioned in the winners list! They said to look for it to trend in searches which will help Cain.
Losers they listed Perry, Bachmann and the gchat noise that signified their time was up.
Another priest removed for explaining church teaching on homosexuality, now in Texas
It’s irrelevant what the fag said. Let him throw out his San Fan Lib BS and let the candidate handle it. I don’t see the need for the audience to react like we are all in Harlem watching a movie in the theater.
I think that question to any of the other candidates would have sunk them. Very few solid Conservatives up there in my opinion. They would have tried to split the baby. To many Libertarian leaning or straight up politicians.
Heh.. I was impressed with Santorum for a minute there.
Persoanlly, I could care less if people want to boo an activist faggot soldier.
Santorum was able to clearly get his message out. Hence the queers are in a tizzy.
There is nothing wrong with letting a candidate know that you like or dislike their answer. ohhhhh wait a minute. You a Perry supporter with his panties in a bunch over the boos he’s gotten the past couple of debates?
I don't think the President has the power to adopt or repeal the policy, although I'm sure Obama assumes he does. Therefore, the question had no purpose other than to be another homosexual "in your face" moment. The boo was justified.
See 35 I suspect it fits!
We heartless conservatives should steer clear of Perry for sure.
I dont know what small group in the crowd did it but Conservatives DONT boo soldiers. Booing soldiers is a Progressive thing, not ours. I dont give a damn what sexual orientation he is. It was a horrible demonstration, that will be used against our side in worse ways than the cheering at Ron Pauls let him die reply from the 2nd debate or the Jerry Springer audience that snuck in and loudly cheered executions.
Quite frankly as a Veteran I was embarrassed, and even felt insulted last night.
Ending dont ask dont tell, was not part of the Republican platform, but its done and American people just want to move on, and not make this social issue part of this election. Its not the time and place for that battle. And this soldier lifted his right hand like any other soldier and took the same oath, and for all we know has served honorably. A standing ovation for the soldier, or at the very least a Thank You for your service followed by an intelligent argument defending the Republican platform would have been much smarter and classier.
Bother checking around here. I am the lone Santorum guy here. Have been and always will be. I defended Perry against irrational attacks because I was hoping for Perry to succeed because he was going to be the Myth killer. Myth needs to go post haste. Perry is failing at that.
You aren’t the only Santorum supporter.
Free speech goes both ways. They were idiots. There that’s my free speech.
Beat ya to it! :)
For all we know the booing could have been done by DNC plants because the leftmedia is using it to validate their vicious lie that 'Republicans hate gays' (and, as they often add, anyone not white, heterosexual and Christian). Since I doubt the election will turn on who gets the homosexual vote this is not terribly important but it demonstrates the abject fear the left has of the TEA party. They are pulling out all the stops to defame the TEA party folks and convince Americans they are a bunch of KKK-style haters that want to shove Christianity down the throats of Americans. That is insane and a palpable lie but the left is getting desperate as they see the nation slowly turning on Obama and threatening to dismantle the socialist structure the left has carefully built over the past 70 years. Look for lots of this 'Republicans hate...(fill in the minority group) rhetoric in the weeks to come. Expect it to reach tsunami proportions if Sarah Palin enters the race, as I hope she does because she will be prepared to deal with the smears and evaporate them as they are based on fallacies.
Really? Whenever I bother to get involved with defending him, it degenerates into what a POS Rick is. I get flamed. I know there are at least two supporters because I get FReepmailed from them afraid to get involved with my beat down.
When Ricks brand of Conservatism is deemed as not genuine and unelectable, I am giving up and taking up fly fishing.
“I am the lone Santorum guy here. Have been and always will be.”
Naw. I love the guy. Always have, and always will for his clarity about the centrality of traditional values to the American soul.
He needs to stop wincing when he listens and speaks, though.
He delivered the knock-out punch to Perry on the subsidy issue. It’s not about preventing children of illegals from going. It’s about not subsidizing them at the expense of legals. He said it with passion and a touch of irritation at Perry’s obtuseness. Perry visibly deflated after the blow.
Santorum’s message about the necessity of foreign conflict is not going over well, or at least not as well as Paul’s message about withdrawal and isolation. But, he’s got the courage of his convictions, and I think he’s got the better of the argument in substance. This is a dangerous world, with or without our engagement. Better to shape events (within the limits of decency and respect for difference) than wait for them to shape you.
Kind of a dilemma, a soldier defending America who is hellbent on destroying it.
I have taken note. It is the new cool Libertarian thing as irrational as it is in actual practice. I have been getting Ricks weekly e mails since he left office. They are always solid articles on foreign policy and are as thoughtful as Boltons ideas, in their depth of knowledge and topics covered. Rick is a lot deeper than most people pigeon hole him as.
Why? A soldier asked a political question at a political forum and some people disagreed with his politics and booed him.
And this is somehow a big freaking deal?
Again I ask why?
Is it not possible to support the soldier and dislike his policy preferences?
Signed, a former soldier.
” I dont see the need for the audience to react like we are all in Harlem watching a movie in the theater.”
They see their Culture and country circling the drain and maybe they get emotional and before they know it they are reacting. Maybe they can learn to shut up and sit there silently, just watching.
