ORLANDO -- There's no scientific polling, but talks with dozens of delegates who will vote in today's Florida straw poll suggest that many are making last-minute decisions to vote for Herman Cain.
What seems to be happening is this: A lot of delegates came to Orlando planning to vote for Rick Perry. But Perry's poor performance at Thursday night's Fox News-Google debate gave them pause and re-opened the question of whom they will support. And many of the conservatives who were attracted to Perry will, when asked for a second choice, naturally gravitate to Cain, who, it just happens, had a particularly good debate on Thursday. So with Perry not commanding the loyalty he did just 48 hours ago, Cain appears to be picking up support.

Herman Cain is the best candidate on the stage the other night. He has my support. I like him politically far better than Perry, Romney and Bachman put together.
I have yet to see a good argument against the man. Not one. Yet for some reason he is second tier. Are we going to let the rew rich GOP donors choose our candidates? Really??
I thin we should be backing Cain with all we have, the man would kick Obama’s ass so bad he would bever be able to sit again.
Actually, folks, Newt Gingrich and Herman Cain look like they could make a great team for America!!! They should be in the running. However, this race is just getting started!!! And......IMHO opinion, Romney & Perry are dead in the water!!! At the end of the day, neither one of them is going anywhere in the POTUS race!!! Both losers!!!!
Isn’t that odd. So far, Cain has shown NO negatives. He’s been consistent in his message and actually articulates a plan - something the rest of the knife-throwers don’t do.
But as he rises in the polls, count on the MSM to dig the dirt on him. Today’s journalism is nothing but mob crusifixion. Pretty soon we’ll find out Herman mandated less cheese and non-union grown tomatos on his pizzas.

It is marketing pure and simple. It is about who can get the most air time and in this American Idol culture, people tune into dramatics, not intellect.
Herman Cain won that debate. I don’t care what the pundits say. Actually, they don’t say much about Herman Cain...they acknowledge he was there and move on to the Perry/Romney saga as if that is all there is.
I think Cain has an incredible trust factor working for him. Based on his debate performances, interviews and background I have less wariness about him than I do the rest of the people on that stage (and politicians in general). I know he doesn’t have a lot of political experience, but based on his attitude I am confident if he doesn’t know the answer he will find someone who does. That is what businessmen do.
Perry & Romney may have the Rudy syndrome- the assumed leader by the media early on but can’t pull it together.
Right now, I am planning on voting for him hear in Georgia. That might change in time, but he was more relaxed and smoother in this last debate than he had been, and most of the others - especially the too leaders - make we feel a little noxious.

I don’t know. I liked him, but I hadn’t taken him seriously as a candidate until the night before last.
Yesterday I did my homework on the man and shared what I’d found with my daughter. Cain now has two more supporters. My mother will be on board by tomorrow.
So I can guarantee three more votes for Cain in the primaries just from this house. My daughter will sway at least three of her friends.
If the buzz keeps up, he’ll start to surge within the next two weeks.
Well if Cain is still in the race by the time your state votes then I think you are choosing wisely.
But, if he drops out early because he simply can’t get any traction in the polls and/or with fundraising, you need to have a back up from those likely to still be in the race which most likely will be just Perry or Romney (unless you live in one of the few early primary states)
He's being purposefully ignored by the media.
In a news/video report just before the first debate, the CBS affiliate here in Nashville listed the participants with their images. They did not even mention Herman Cain's name. They are desperate to hide the fact that a black conservative exists in this world, much less in the election cycle.
Lack of experience in government and politics.
Lack of knowledge or record regarding non-economic issues.
My son was griping about this plan. The idea of paying 9% in income tax and an additional 9% in sales tax stuck in his craw.
My daughter broke it down like this:
On her last paycheck, she earned $415. She was actually paid $359. So she paid 13.5% in federal taxes. (With Cain, she’d pay less)
She’s trying to save up for a cheap, used car. If she saves that money, she won’t have to pay the 9% until she spends it. (She won’t pay anything in taxes for a used car - only if she buys new.)
I told him that I liked the plan because it rewards savers.
I then pointed out to him that he uses Coin Star to cash out his tips. He’s paying a 10% surcharge because he’s too lazy to count and roll his own money. I told him that, if 10% meant that much to him, he’d do it himself. (He’s now sworn off Coin Star.)
If Cain’s 9-9-9 plan is anything like the Fair Tax, the products will only be taxed at the retail level. this means that overall prices will go down and it may end up being a wash. (Plus the 9% corporate tax that’s passed on to consumers)

He probably is already paying close to or even more than 9% in sales tax depending on where he is but that would bring income tax down. The good part is that with sales tax, you can control how much you pay through wise purchases or people can even barter if they feel the government isn’t spending their money the way they want versus just confiscated via income tax.

I agree completely. It’s far past time that we start voting for candidates who are literally just like ourselves. There is only one candidate like that in the field right now. That person for me is Herman Cain.
