REPORTING FROM MEXICO CITY -- The United States government has yet to brief Mexican authorities on the failed Fast and Furious gun-running operation that led to scores of American weapons being smuggled purposefully into a raging drug war, Mexico's top law enforcement official told The Times.
"At no time did we know or were we made aware that there might have been arms trafficking permitted," said Atty. Gen. Marisela Morales in comments from a recent interview with Times reporters published Tuesday. "In no way would we have allowed it, because it is an attack on the safety of Mexicans."

U.S. has yet to explain Fast and Furious to the U.S.
Mexico has this posturing thing down pat.
Get in line behind us in the US Mexico, me thinks it's going to be a long drawn out wait.
gun-running operation that led to scores of American weapons <<
I thought it was thousands.
Can you say “rogue international arms trafficking” Alex? Perhaps including bribes from cartels not yet disclosed?
I’m pretty sure that the big-eared narcissistic Marxist isn’t going to appoint a Special Prosecutor without a lot of public bitching from Mexico about the 200 murdered mexicans tied to F&F firearms, because murdered Border Patrol agents just don’t carry enough weight.
Many Mexicans have died and many more will die because of Obama's criminal attempt to destroy the 2nd amendment.
Mexico has yet to explain its existence. That won’t stop Obama from crawling on hands and knees, bowing and scraping to apologize once more for the evil US. Albeit, an evil of his making. ...I say skip all the apologies, and arm every Mexican citizen, so the criminal circus they call a country can be enjoyed by one and all. It’s entirely unfair for our Chicago criminals to arm their criminal friends without giving the rest of Mexico’s population a chance.
Are you kidding? The President of Mexico was in on it from the start. That’s obvious when he played such a large part in the initial propaganda campaign, with Zero and Hillary.
OK I will have a shot at it:
US DEA and FBI agents gave cash to your mexican criminals in the zetas, gulf cartel, sinaloa cartel, and similar, and the mexican criminals came illegally to the united states to buy thousands and thousands of weapons, especially semi-automatic high caliber pistols and semi-automatic AR-15 and AK-47 type rifles, from our American federally licensed and controlled gun stores, using straw buyers who illegally bought the guns with the US government cash, at the instructions to store owners by US ATF agents to allow the sales to be consummated, and the straw buyers then gave the guns to the mexican criminals to take them to mexico or otherwise use them in their drug smuggling and human smuggling operations and firefights against mexican and US authorities and private citizens, leading to hundreds of criminal deaths of people in the US and Mexico, including a border partol agent and a dea agent, by use of the illegally sold weapons owned now by the criminal mexican cartels, including use of the weapons in smuggling operations and operations conducted by the cartels in mexico against the mexican police and military forces and civilians, all of which was a plot from the highest levels of the US government, from the President, Secretary of State, Secretary of Homeland Security, Attorney General, etc, to justify revoking the second constitutional amendment right of Americans to keep and bear arms (which shall not be infringed) and to destabilize Mexico and threaten the security of the United States and its borderlands and increase the illegal immigration of mexicans into the US to avoid the increasing lawlessness in their own lands.
Is that about right? Nothing is stranger than the truth.
Holder’s people tried to use your country (Mexico) as a pawn in the game to destroy the USC’s 2nd amendment by turning public opinion against guns and gun trafficking.
You forgot the ending. Yes it hasn`t been written yet but we can all see it coming:
The GOP/RINO elites hold hearings that merely skim over the surface of the evidence . A few minor peons lose their jobs. A sternly worded report is written. It disappears down the memory hole. Obama retires to a comfortable zillianiare lifestyle being worshipped wherever he gives 500,000 dollar a pop speeches.
Bump. Very concise short description of what happened.
“But, given the river of weapons that flows into Mexico from the U.S., do a few more make a big difference?”.. I believe that the original “Gunrunner” operation under Bush concluded there was NO “Iron Pipeline” from the US to Mexico. Obama’s regime said if there isn’t one, we’ll make one. My sources are accurate. Is Mexico’s?
Has anyone ever postured the questions: How is it the straw buyers knew which dealers to get massive buys from?
Then, for the real scheme to be successful (gun control in the U.S.) some of the guns would have to be FOUND at the crime scenes to be traceable back to the U.S. dealers - but WHY would the drug cartel thugs drop the weapons at the scene to BE found?
/were they ‘paid off’ to leave the links to the crimes/guns with having all the extra weapons for their use AND not have to worry about being tracked down?
Would the whole runner op be useful any other way?
Evil, America hating people are in charge - there’s been a coup at the WH. Time to recognize that.
***Holders people tried to use your country (Mexico) as a pawn...***
And still are via the last paragraph in http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/world_now/2011/09/us-has-yet-to-explain-fast-and-furious-to-mexico-official-says.html
“Yes, it was bad and wrong, and you have to ask yourself, what were they thinking?” a senior official in President Felipe Calderon’s administration told The Times, referring to Fast and Furious. “But, given the river of weapons that flows into Mexico from the U.S., do a few more make a big difference?”
Sounds like the LAT mistook the administration that unnamed senior official is connected to...
In opening statements at the conference on Wednesday, Attorney General Marisela Morales called for strengthening the strategy against “narcomenudeo”, or local drug dealing for domestic consumption, which she admitted is the real engine driving violence in the country, and was the motive for the murder of the 35 people in Veracruz.
Morales emphasized that Mexico must put an end to this criminal phenomenon that has generated the struggle between organized criminal gangs seeking to seize control of several territories within the country...
My optimism could be betraying me but I think Mexico is getting ready to help level the executive branch.
Yup. You are right on the mark. Amazed it took to the tenth post for that truth to be stated.
Memo to Mexico: We, the People of America, are having a hard enough time getting this lame ass idiot-ridden administration to explain such. Join the club and get in line. =.=
There. I fixed it.
This could only be a purposeful understating of what went on.
Hey Mexico, 0bama and Holder were using you in their crack-pot scheme to remove our 2nd Amendment Rights!
theres been a coup at the WH. I don't think it's complete, yet. I think any action by Mexico I alluded to in the earlier post is part of future events
Obama's change chumped America but he got chumped first. Those who will unseat him will not undo anything he did but will run hard with it.
We, the People better snap out of the dazed and confused mode and find someone(s) to trust politically and rally around.
Free opinion generated in part by Folgers.
I’m missing your point here. I know the story.
"Progressives" have an end goal and they will justify any means to get there.
Their zeal precludes rationality, logic and truth.
Imagine what would have happened had we not managed to wrest back at least some legislative power and the zealot idiots still controlled both the executive and legislative branches of government.
Yep, imagine. (horror)
Ot was just an add on to show that murders of American agents as well as Mexican citizens have resulted from this op with more to come and should be dealt with in the harshest way possible.
A response to:
“My optimism could be betraying me but I think Mexico is getting ready to help level the executive branch.”
Mexico has yet to explain why it meddles in the sovereign affairs of The United States and why it actively encourages it’s citizens to violate our borders.
ROTFLMAO!!!!! Oh man, that’s funny!
And Paul Walker the worst Actor in Hollywood would be a better cop then any of the idiots working on the Fast and the Furious gun running.
That statement, as I read it, indicates a significant departure from the Mexican presidents claim that the flow of guns from the US is the cause of violence in Mexico.
Something's up. That was my point. I was not favoring their dead over our dead.
Nor was I. just mentioning it. Our government is responsible for murders on both sides of the border. And we don’t know yet, but it is VERY possible that the weapons used in the Carson City shooting of National Guardsmen were ALSO walked weapons. I want this administration to be held acountable, and the Mexican government, if their president knew, should be held accountable as well.
Add to that we don’t know how many weapons went to OTHER countries besides Mexico. ALL of this needs to see the light of day.
Because there is no explanation that does not make Obama look like a liar or like he is trying to destabilize the Mexican government.
I’d like to know for sure if a domestic version of f&f wasn’t in place, too.
Wow! I didn’t think it was possible to sum it all up in one sentence. Excellent! You get and A+.
From the what’s good for the goose category.
On Friday, Laura Chinchilla Miranda, the Socialist International President of Costa Rica urged the UN to help fight drug cartels.
...As a result of our location between the largest centres of production and demand in the world, we have become a target to the dynamic of death that they both create, and we must bear the burden of extraordinary material, institutional and human costs What for the main perpetrators of these atrocities are mere collateral damages, for Central Americans represent extreme challenges and deep wounds.
Ms. Chinchilla added: From here stems our greatest frustration. Thus we demand that the international community, in particular the greatest consumers of drugs and suppliers of arms that materialize the violence, assume completely and without further delay, the responsibility of their actions.
Hmmmmm. Collateral damages. Sounds kind of familiar. Wonder if she’s planning to sue the gun makers of Central Europe? Or Hezbollah?
In that same UN confab El Salvadors President Mauricio Funes claimed:
...We are talking about a drug trade route that moves about $100,000 million per year, and that culminates in the biggest market in the world and the main consumer of these substances: the United States. Not even a big country like Mexico can take a step on its own and have any possibilities of success in this battle in the face of such a terrorist threat...”
Maybe Mexico can’t take a step on it’s own because it’s tripping over it’s increasing number of drug addicts laying around the plazas. Them and the dead sicarios.
