The Beginning of the End of Oslo?
Arutz Sheva ^ | 24/9/11 | David Lev

Palestinian Authority chief Mahmoud Abbas on Saturday demanded a renegotiation of key aspects of the Oslo Accords, claiming that the agreement had prevented the PA economy from expanding as much as it could have. At issue is the Paris Agreement, which set up the system whereby Israel collects customs and taxes for the PA, and in return allows PA Arabs to work in Israel.

“We want to reopen the Paris Agreement and make changes to it," Abbas told reporters as he returned to Ramallah from Washington. "The agreement is not fair and there are restrictions on Palestinians that prevent our economy from growing and prospering. The Paris Agreement does not give us the opportunity to develop our economy and our country.” Sources in Jerusalem said that Israel may consider renegotiating the Paris Agreement, and other components of the Oslo Accords as well.

Abbas' statement came out of fear that Israel would take action against the PA for its failed statehood bid. Speaking Friday, a top official in the Prime Minister's Office, Liran Dan, said that the government was considering placing sanctions on the PA, including abrogating several previously signed agreements. In an interview with Army Radio, Dan said that Israel was considering several steps that might be implemented as a response to the UN bid. The government will discuss these options when Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu returns to Israel.

With that, Dan said, he believed that Israel and the PA would resume negotiations in the coming weeks.

Oookay. Let’s renegotiate. How about this? Isreal collects the taxes and customs fees, and the residents of the PA areas don’t get to go to work in Isreal.

****Just shut off the water and electricity. They want their own country, let them build their own infrastructure.***

If I remember my history, Palestine was to be partitioned between Israel and Jordan.

The Jordanians got tired of forking over funds to the Palis so they set them loose to go their own way w/o Jorndanian funding. After all, the Palis kept biting the Jordanian hand that fed them.

Actually, the Palestinians did more than bite the Jordanian hand feeding them. Yasser Arafat's PLO tried to stage a coup against King Hussein's government (and murder the King and hid whole family to boot). The King turned the Jordanian Army loose on Arafat and company with orders to exterminate them. (See origins of Black September terrorist group.)

The Jordanian Army was kicking PLO butt until Arafat brokered a deal involving the UN. Arafat and the remains of his PLO were allowed to escape to Lebanon (with their weapons). When they got to Lebanon, they promptly set about destabilizing that country. The Lebanese civil war lasted off and on from 1975-1990.

Ooops. Typo: “his whole family” not “hid whole family”. My bad.

You got it right. When I hear someone talking about the “palestinians”, I tell them there is already a ‘palestian’ state. It’s called Jordan. At the time, it was Trans-Jordan. Noone wants the ‘palestians’ because they are just so much human garbage.

If I remember my history, Palestine was to be partitioned between Israel and Jordan.

The original partition plan had "the west bank" part of Israel, but when Jordan attacked Israel when it became a state, they annexed it.

The Jordanians got tired of forking over funds to the Palis so they set them loose to go their own way w/o Jorndanian funding. After all, the Palis kept biting the Jordanian hand that fed them.

Wow is that an understatement. After an unsuccessful attempt at overthrowing the Jordanian government, Jordan massacred the palis and ejected them out of the country. Google "black september." The terrorist group took their name from the events.

I remember Black September and the six day war. The blowing up of the hijacked airliners and Entebbie. I remember that Jordan got fed up and kicked the Palis out.

It was still a few years later before Jordan finally cut the financial cord and said “See ya” to the Palis.
