The American 'allergy' to global warming: Why? (it's that "faith" thing)
CBS News ^ | September 25, 2011 | AP

[snip]

....What's going on?

"The desire to disbelieve deepens as the scale of the threat grows," concludes economist-ethicist Clive Hamilton.

He and others who track what they call "denialism" find that its nature is changing in America, last redoubt of climate naysayers. It has taken on a more partisan, ideological tone. Polls find a widening Republican-Democrat gap on climate. Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry even accuses climate scientists of lying for money. Global warming looms as a debatable question in yet another U.S. election campaign.

From his big-windowed office overlooking the wooded campus of the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory in Palisades, N.Y., Broecker has observed this deepening of the desire to disbelieve.

"The opposition by the Republicans has gotten stronger and stronger," the 79-year-old "grandfather of climate science" said in an interview. "But, of course, the push by the Democrats has become stronger and stronger, and as it has become a more important issue, it has become more polarized."

The solution: "Eventually it'll become damned clear that the Earth is warming and the warming is beyond anything we have experienced in millions of years, and people will have to admit..." He stopped and laughed.

"Well, I suppose they could say God is burning us up."

This article needs to be read. It is the divide. Be prepared to be shocked and hopefully offended. This propaganda is what passes as news. Print yourself a copy so it will be a handy reminder when they keep coming at us with their panda bears, polar bears and green energy solutions.

Environmentalists have, are and will continue to lie for money -- for power and control. And they've been very successful. However their "brand" has been bruised so they've slowly begun transitioning to using the terms "conservation" and "conservationists" -- so don't be fooled (conservation has long been the CORRECT term to describe mankind's proper interface with our world -- so now the "greens" need to snatch it).

Even graduate students and post docs know to keep their opinions to themselves (a growing chorus of distinguished and renowned scientists are giving an informed rebuttal to the lies of global warming "science" in efforts to inform the world of this hoax). Companies and businesses bullied for years by "green" terrorists and the "green"education movement, pay "hostage" money to keep the environmentalist off their backs and fashion their advertising and products to draw in "brainwashed" green customers.

Solyndra "green" solar panel execs are in the headlines (well maybe in "Section B" of the news, because the SEJ -- Society of Environmental Journalists write the copy for so many news agencies) plead the 5th as they "loose" $500,000,000 of tax payer money -- handed to them by President Obama. Sixties radicals have churned out a marching army of "green"graduates ready to make free-market capitalism pay and reform.

There is a renewed push from the warmists on the Left, to alert listeners and viewers that "deniers" and "contraians" (Jim Hansen likes that term) must be refused a seat at the discussion table because their opinions are so wrong they are putting the world in irreversible danger by confusing the public. Many churches have adopted and incorporated "save Mother Earth" and "Creation Care" policies into their religious teachings. The EPA has been given the "green light" to overrule Congress on what and how environmental policy will be deemed lawful and unlawful -- who you can hire, where you can hire, what you can make and what you can sell. And you will pay dearly if you disobey.

The Left is using religion as their "understood" meme that people of faith don't believe in science and thus are dangerous.

This Left is formulating this distinction and divide to label conservatives as enemies of the state.

This is Stalinesque. Learn about Trofim Lysenko and Lysenkoism where scientists were "removed" for dissenting. It's was (is) called agronomy.

Your post from the pulled thread:

America, last redoubt of climate naysayers

Not long ago I had to do some research into captiol punishment (I'm against it, btw, so you know I'm not cooking the data), in response to the usual "civilized nations don't have it" crud from some Europeans. I presented them with the history of how Europe came to be 'against' executions, and how it was clear that in many cases if not most, executions were outlawed not in response to the people's wishes but in spite of them. (Now that this has been the law for the lifetimes of many voters, of course, it's a moot point.)

I think of this when I see how the MSM rush to defend the Global Warming position. One of their biggest tactics, of course, is to blend the idea of natural warming with the idea of man-made warming--thus, the 'deniers' are denying the sun is hot, for example.

I mention all of this to show that the MSM/leftists will always, always, always point to other GOVERNMENTS as proof of compliance with a certain point of view. Eleanor Clift and Chris Matthews not only don't know, they don't care what European CITIZENS think about this, or the lack of information in many countries, the lack of free expression, the very obvious bullying that goes on in the sciences, and many other factors. They Just Know, and look, these leftist GOVERNMENTS agree with them, so case closed.

The truth is a lot harder to uncover. I'm not saying the truth is that Europeans or others would agree with our point of view about this topic, only that we don't even know if they have the variety of information needed to come to their own conclusions. This doesn't even factor in the European history of not wanting to rock the government's boar--I'm often startled by how willing some Europeans are to simply believe the government all the time.

It's not about being anti-government or anti-science, it's about the truth of what people really think is very hard to find, and the newspapers seem to know this and bank on it when pushing their agendas.

Perry on Science The liberal media wants you to think Rick Perry puts ideology over science. He doesn't. - …….”Talk about deranged. Chait is claiming that Perry simply ignores reality when it is at odds with ideology. Sort of like EPA administrator Lisa Jackson continuing to link ozone levels to the risk of autism or John Holdren, Obama's science adviser, writing about global warming: "Isn't the only hope for the planet that the industrialized civilizations collapse? Isn't it our responsibility to bring that about?" Or maybe he was thinking about how Centers for Disease Control and Prevention delayed the rollout of the swine flu program. CDC and the White House caved in to the anti-vaccine crazies and pulled multi-dose swine flu shots because they contained thimerasol.

[Snip]

Rick Perry supports science-based health prevention, stem cell research, and environmental regulations by balancing one set of estimates with the impact they can have on human well-being. If that approach meshes with his "theological and ideological worldview," I'm all for repeating early and often.

I should have known. It was my fault it was pulled. I had it all edited and ready to go but the CBS link allowed the full piece (it was AP but still didn’t register as it is so blatantly a propaganda piece).

I put back all the posts I still had in another window. Hope I got them all.

I’m looking for an article that your comments reminded me of. If I find it I’ll post it to the thread.

In Donald Gibson, Battling Wall Street: The Kennedy Presidency (1994), it's revealed modern Malthusians and extreme conservationists opposed Kennedy's call for technology to improve the standard of living.

Do we not recall Rachel Carson's Silent Spring (1962) thanks to which we now proudly kill a million children each year needlessly banning DDT.

Ice cores show us near the end of an inter-ice-age cycle, if anything, cooling back again.

When we ought to push for plentiful and cheap energy to provide clean water and sanitary living conditions for all, when our agricultural professionals (farmers and scientists together) can feed all of us better and better, why do the oppressors seek to demoralize us.

The drumbeat of climate change is nothing we didn't hear from Cotton Mather in Salem, Massachusetts in 1620, or in the star chamber of the Spanish Inquisition.

Climate propaganda coming from those who cannot reliably predict tomorrow's weather or next week's hurricane is nothing but a knife to our throat demanding our wallet and our watch.

We are ending the reign of the shrieking fairies and carping harpies of media and academe, of Hollywood and pop culture.

The Night of the Living Dead is ending.

When the sun comes up next November we'll all step over the striped leggings poking out from under the fallen house and move on down the road.

Rick Perry – “spiritual” or “anti-intellectual?” [snip "So how will Rick Perry’s faith be derided? For starters, he will be subjected to ridicule centered around the assumption that in his own mind, EVERYTHING he does is “God’s will”. That kind of mockery plays heavily on the assumption that religious individuals are either too stupid or too gullible or too arrogant to objectively use history, reason, or the counsel of others when making decisions. He will also be subjected to the same kind of “If Perry really was a TRUE Christian then he would …” second-guessing that liberals heaped on George W. Bush, especially after the US invasion of Iraq. This will be folded into another attack strategy that seems to be underway, namely that Perry’s record as Texas governor proves that he is callous and lacks compassion for the poor. The WaPo article quotes William Martin, a professor at Rice University: “I looked at his policies, and they didn’t seem to be something that would flow from a heart full of Christian love, so I was thinking he had found religion conveniently. But as best I can tell, it seems to be a long-standing conviction of his.” [snip]

AGW is a golden goose for the left, which now consist of hard core Marxist, and or, touchy-feely morons, aka, leftist Democrats.
Their victims are naive kids under the age of 30, and other assorted individuals that have no clue about weather, much less climate.

When you are in a discussion about AGW, you can pretty well shut the neo-AGW believers up when you ask about the “MWP”, followed by the “little ice age”.
Most of them, of course, have no clue as to what you are talking about.

Try it sometime.
It is lots of fun to flummox the idiots.

The world needs to prepare for a climate sceptic defeating Obama

Democrats Unveil the Weapon of the Future ".............This is an extraordinary series of events, of a type that we haven't witnessed before. Even more singular is the legacy media's insistence on covering the story (with the exception of the siege of Madison, which got the standard "unions unbound" treatment) as if it were commonplace to the point of boredom. It is no such thing; it is an ideological campaign of a magnitude and breadth that we have not seen in quite some time, if ever.

What all this amounts to is the baptism of fire of what I have taken to calling the "liberal superstructure." This superstructure is the vast constellation of advocacy groups, think tanks, single-issue outfits, unions, and various other flotsam constructed by the left over the past half-century or so. There are literally thousands of these groups, ranging from the ACLU and the Sierra Club with their hundreds of thousands of members to the local "Friends of the People's Venezuela" outfit which amounts to a retired feminism professor and her six cats. These organizations are ubiquitous, universal, and networked to a fare-thee- well. They are also liberalism's last great hope of controlling politics in the United States.

It's scarcely arguable that, in the political sense, liberalism is on the ropes. Obama spent their last nickel. They have lost the House and will lose the Senate, with little chance of regaining them in the near future. The same is true of the White House once the messiah gets the bum's rush come 2012. Liberalism is on the skids, its programs uniform failures, its ideology barren, its slogans worn out, its long hold on the independents being relentlessly pared down by the Tea Parties……”

Keep bringing it up! The Left demonizes the Tea Party/conservatives because they DON'T WANT people to listen, to consider their opinions and words (they make too much sense) -- You must be ignored and shunned because you're stupid, "religious," racist and greedy. [And anyone who takes up with "them" will be similarly labeled, so don't go there]

Rick Perry Scares the Media & Democrats to Death GOP consultant Mark McKinnon says that the editor of a major newspaper told him, "We plan to declare war on Rick Perry and do all in our power to crush him."

Mr. McKinnon was outraged. "No pretense of integrity, professionalism or of unbiased news gathering," he wrote in Investors' Business Daily.

But I doubt he was surprised. This is what the "mainstream" media did to Sarah Palin in 2008, and what likely is in store for anyone Republicans nominate.

But liberals will go after the Texas governor with special venom because he is anti- intellectual, prays in public, takes the Constitution seriously and sometimes carries a handgun, Walter Shapiro wrote in The New Republic.

"It's almost as if Perry's political persona was constructed by bundling together all the fears and phantoms in the left-wing anxiety closet." he said. “…
