Mitt Romney turns formidable
Mlive.com ^ | Sept. 25, 2011 | Matt Miller

"But the real question is: Does Governor Perry continue to believe that Social Security should not be a federal program, that it's unconstitutional and it should be returned to the states, or is he going to retreat from that view?"

In other words: Is my opponent an extremist who'd lead the party to ruin or a weasel who can't stand by his guns?

On the Texas economy, Romney said, "I think Governor Perry would agree with me that if you’re dealt four aces, that doesn't make you necessarily a great poker player."

Earlier Romney had sounded the same note, saying that Perry surely wouldn't take credit for Texas for having (1) no income tax; (2) lax union protections; (3) oil and gas in the ground; and (4) a Republican legislature. That would be like Al Gore taking credit for inventing the Internet, he joked.

Go ahead, keep bashing Perry, go down in history that conservatives helped Romney be the nominee and helped re-elect Obama.

As I said before, if not Perry, it's Romney and if it's Romney, it's Obama. All the other candidates are just distractions, helping Romney get the nomination because conservatives are attacking Perry, instead of supporting him.

As I also said before, Perry got the "when did you stop beating your wife" gotcha questions from everyone.

Republican establishment trying to stampede conservatives by presenting a false choice between two RINOs, Romney and Perry.

We will see a lot of this in coming days.

He is clueless and without integrity of any form.

Maybe you missed something but Romney doesn't benefit from Perry's self-inflicted gunshot wound to the credability if Florida is any indication.

Go ahead, keep bashing Perry

When Perry stops bashing us conservatives, then maybe we will stop saying we don't agree with his stupid ideas.

I am on for Romney.

I’m not establishment GOP. I’m a conservative. I am from Texas and I do not get a rise from Perry. Perry is not the next Reagan or Jesus. He just isn’t. That’s all.

The best GOP candidate for POTUS with the money and system and anti-Obama machine is..........Romney. I want the anti-Obama with all it’s warts. The warts aren’t redirecting me right now. The cancers of the current Admin are.

I will trade the cancers of the current Obama admin for the warts of a Romney Admin ANY DAY. Realize this. It’s not about pure philosophies. It’s about getting the Titanic turning in the right direction to avoid a collision as opposed to having it sail in the opposite direction.

It is.

Unfortunately, I get the feeling some folks would rather see Obama finish the country off than see anyone but their savior win the presidency.

Sort of a “cut your nose off to spite your face” mentality, except 4 more years of Obama WILL finish us off, of that I have no doubt. So, it's really a “cut your nose off and die via blood loss and infection” mentality.

A true winning strategy.

Do I have to add “/s”?

As a Texan, I know well how to gauge Perry. Been dealing with him for a decade now.

What you saw (in the debates) is what you get. That’s ol’ Rick. In Texas if you don’t have a “D” next your name, you win. Rick’s managed to occupy the Mansion for a decade on that simple premise.

The funny part is Kinky. I don’t get his Perry connection. He’s done nothing but rail and run against him for the better part of the last decade only to now turn tail and endorse him.

ROTFLMAO!!! FairOpinion, is that you? It's the evening shift for the Party/consultant hacks and we're scraping at the bottom of the RINO barrell of memes here...

'A vote for McClintock is a vote for Bustamante...' ARNOLD for Governor!!!

Conservatives fell for it. How'd that work out?

'A vote for Reagan is a vote for Brown...' Christopher for Governor!!!

Conservatives didn't fall for it. How'd that work out?

You STILL have yet to explain Florida. Haven't you been given your talking points yet? It's incredibly unprofessional not to have your story straight by now. Where are these people in the Perry campaign? Simply trolling for fear is just not going to cut it here, as the memory of know how we got McCain is all too fresh while the "Perry is a conservative" pitch simply reeks of Bush's "reach-across-the-aisle compassionate conservatism" that sold us down the fiscal river and created a solid Democrat majority.

You're just not going to sell that here this time. Don't you get it?

As self-inflicted as it can be. But look at the moronic quote from the originator of this thread:

Perry held the gun and pulled the trigger but it's our fault?

You may be correct about that (which says less about McCain than it does about Bush), although IIRC, McCain's fiscal record has deteriorated somewhat over the years. His handling of Iraq (if we'd done it at all) would have probably been less profligate. I shudder to think of what his SCOTUS appointments might have been.

"We got into this economic mess because of misplaced government interference in the first place. The mortgage crisis that triggered the collapse of our financial markets was rooted in a well-meaning but wrongheaded desire to increase home ownership among people who could not yet afford to own a home.

Politicians on the right AND left wanted to take credit for an increase in middle-class home ownership. But the rules of the marketplace are just as constraining as human nature. Government cannot force financial institutions to give loans to people who can't afford to pay them back and then expect that somehow things will all magically work out. Sooner or later, reality catches up with us. "

Right on target.   Fire for effect.

Accept responsibility, learn from the mistake, and drive on.

In the meantime, a question for lurking "formidable" Romneybots ---    Who is T. Martin "Robo Signers R Us" Fiorentino Jr.?
