US Hikers Freed from Iran Speak: Thank Penn And Chomsky, Blame Mutual US-Iran Hostility for Detention

--------“The only explanation for our prolonged detention is the 32 years of mutual hostility between America and Iran,” said Bauer. “The irony is Sarah Josh and I oppose U.S. policies towards Iran which perpetuate this hostility. We were convicted of espionage, because we are American.”

“We do not believe such human rights violations on the part of our government justify what has been done to us. Not for a moment. However, we do believe these actions on the part of the U.S. provide an excuse for other governments, including the government of Iran to act in kind.”

These idiots weren't smart enough to argue their own position? How can you equate hiking near a border (super stupid on their part) with bomb-throwing terrorists? I sure as hell hope my tax dollars weren't spent on freeing these two ungrateful idiots.

Well, it seems we’ve finally found a use for Sean Penn and Noam Chomsky. Is there some way that their public anti-American screeds could cut down to the minimum level which would allow them to continue functioning as hostage negotiators with lunatic anti-American regimes, and we could be spared hearing them otherwise?

Initially, I thought that these people were REALLY spies. Who the hell goes for a jaunt along the Iranian/Iraqi Border?

NOW, I think they are just a trio of perverted late blooming flower children. I think its a shame they were released. They needed a few more years in their to “re-educate” them about the REASONS we hate the Iranians. The course they got was apaprently too short.

These leftists were held because they were fool enough to go hiking on the Iran border and the Iranian government figured to score a lot of points politically and influence wise by taking and holding them.

My guess is that these two hoped from the start for some kind of contact with the Iranians that they could then use in an effort to push their own anti-American political agenda.

They found out that the Mullahs hate us all. Despite this, and the US Government working to get them freed, they are now continuing with their original script to blame it all on American foreign policy...basically another version of, "it's Bush's fault."

These embiciles do not even realize that they were lucky to avoid what happened to Daniel Pearl and Nick Berg, both of whom were beheaded.

Obama thanks Oman for helping free hikers

Saturday, 24 September 2011 01:47

WASHINGTON: President Barack Obama thanked Oman’s Sultan Qaboos on Friday for his role in getting Iran to free two US hikers jailed there for spying and illegal entry for over two years.

Josh Fattal and Shane Bauer, both 29, were flown into Muscat on an Omani Royal Air Force plane Wednesday after the Gulf sultanate of Oman paid their $1 million bail to get them released from Tehran’s notorious Evin prison. Their case had poisoned already tense ties between Tehran and Washington.

Of course, to liberals it's always US policies. The kidnapping and illegal imprisonment of dozens of US embassy employees under Carter, Iran's present drive for nuclear weapons, and its avowed aim to destroy Israel have nothing to do with it.

I suspect it was to spray paint some “peacelovedope” message up in the mountains of northern Iraq and spread it all over youtube.

It is nonsense that they got lost, at that location, a popular tourist grotto, they had to climb a very steep ridge to the east of a very well marked border to get to Iran.

They may have done so to meet others they were connected to. There is much more of the story to come out.

Why wasn’t Gore or any of the other “release” celebrities involved? Why was the ransom donor kept secret?

Even radical Iran was very angry at these three activists to keep them for 2 years, why? Normally they would be interrogated and thrown out of the country.

I was hoping there would be a posting by a FR on the background of these people.
